Who or what is Orsino?

In addition to the Hawke stuff, Cassandra's armor and shield are available, as well as the Arishok's (Badass Qunari Hawke scraps with) armor and helm (horns included)
But there is also an outfit and staff labeled 'Orsino's Robes' and 'Orisino's Staff'. Anyone have any info on who or what Orsino is?

People in that were saying it could be a random NPC or a guild or something though.
My guess is any of the three really.
Companion, Important NPC, Guild-type (like the Legion Of The Dead, for example)

It's just a name for the robes, probably with a nice history blurb about how they once belonged to Orsino.
I stongly doubt that Orsino will appear in DA2. I think Orsino is a historical character at best.

This is also highly possible.Tinxa wrote...
*Sigh* I think people are reading to much into it again.

Never thought of that before.

Slightly annoying but mitigated by the fact that my avatar looks awesome rocking out wearing Hawke's Mage gear in Guitar Hero:Warriors of Rock hehe

LOLNow that's a cynical way of looking at it.
You mean like most of the (unique) magical equipment in Origins?
How cynical to assume it to be the same.

Honestly, I rarely read descriptions. Never found much incentive to interact with that little pop-up menu. I hope they implement that better this time.
Also, saying equipment belonged to a powerful blood mage or a young fool who used to survive his own idiocy is different from 'random dude Orsino'. The description has to be better or it'll look silly.

Asturian's might
Havard's aegis
Dumat's spine
Olaf's cheese knife
...
None of these characters were in DAO.

I'm with this. I mean, come on, people, how many named items were there in Origins? (And don't we have the Staff of Parlathan special item already? Nobody's making threads speculating that Parlathan is a potential party member.)
It's not a spoiler. It's just a thematic thing. If they'd called it "Grey Warden Robes" would you be all "who's this Grey Warden? Is that a party member?!" No.

None of those items were made Avatar clothesClearly he's something important to the story. Or the robes are.
OR, those are just the most notably unique-looking and ossum robes/staff in the game, so they released them instead of Vanilla Staff #732.

I would actually like a Vanilla Staff #732. It could be one of those in-game jokes, like the 'Chewed and Moist Book'.

Orsino is a character in DA2. One assumes more information will be forthcoming regarding it, though I don't think that particularly affects the robes in any fashion.
Mr Gaider mixes humour with snark very well. I approve.
