I don't know if someone already mentioned this, but could Orsino be Fenris' former master?

If he is indeed
an elf from the art (which is very possible considering stave to be pretty the
same as XBoX avatar’s one) than he cant be a magister in Tewinter Imperium because
of his race.;)

question: isn't being a mage in tevinter imperium sort of a free card for prestige regardless of race in current thedas?

i think orsino is the head of the movement wanting mages to seperate themselves from chantry control. (cool he's an elf).

As for companions in origins we got 3 warriors(not including shale) 2 mages 2 rogues. If da 2 is similar we should get 2 mage companions. Im guessing anders and merril.

I really
doubt it. Because they, the Imperium, still actively practice race-based slavery.  Bringing one of the slave races to the leading
role in the society because of his talent didn’t look wise.
I think that the
most elf with the talent to magic could get in Tewinter is a role of the guinea
pig in some deadly experiments.

If there's a conflict between mages and templars in this game (I think it likely), I think Orsino is one of the higher-up mages encouraging the clash. I do not think he will be a companion, but an important NPC. I suspect he's either the First Enchanter, or a powerful mage in the Circle that leads a coup against the current First Enchanter so he can incite a rebellion. It could be an interesting conflict for Hawke: if Orsino is morally ambiguous and cares about nothing but his goals and therefore commits crimes and atrocities, he may be a bad guy fighting for what could be seen as a good cause (the mage's freedom). On the other hand, Hawke may be able to help the templars suppress the rebellion, even though his own sister is/was an apostate.

The drama!

Didn't someone  in Dragon Age Awakening mention desire demons possessing mabari hounds? No wait, maybe it was in a book in the Circle Tower when you visit in Witch Hunt.

Clearly the developers know where all this romance business is headed.

A quick wikipedia search of The Morrígan, makes me think they are similar in some ways (and before I always had though that Morrigan's name derived from Morgan...who might have dervied from The Morrígan). Both The Morrígan and Morgan have some association with powerful magic and shapechanging.

Alistair's name has to do with "Defending" something.

That being said, I think it's silly to guess that because the First Enchanter is named after a romantic Shakespearian Duke that he must have some romantic role to play.

So, it's the caution we have to take in our silly little "Let's guess things we have no way of knowing" game, sometimes names do actually mean something...mostly they don't.

I am now assuming that with in the tower there will be a really hilarious beef-eating idiot named Andrew.

It's uncanny how well some of the names fit. But the writers have said, time and again, they just pick names they like. Morrigan, I believe, comes from the name of Darth Gaider's friend. Fenris is the only one I remember that has a specific meaning to his name.

Well, I guess that disproves my "Correlation implies causation" theory. Dammnit, I was going to be famous.

I just liked the name. Nothing more.

And that's all you need.

I got Sylvius from As You Like It (though Shakespeare spelled it differently, but I didn't know that at the time - I'd never read the play, nor seen it, but I was invited to play the part of Silvius in a small production and I just really liked the name).

That explains the Sylvius, but why "the Mad"?

For whatever reason, I expect Orsino to be a villainous or at least aggressive character who commits disagreeable acts or even crimes.

Like stealing pic-a-nic baskets?!

I think that Orsino is a fine name. Hopefully he will be also known as "Orsino the Great".

Edit: ^ or Orsino the Mad would also be cool.

Orsino: If music be the food of love, play on....

I remember auditioning for that part. But on a side note, if there was also a character named Malvolio to add another often cited quote and a transgendered character primarily named Viola, imagine how the forums could now explode with threads on transgendered romances. Would it make Evil Chris smile?

I think Orsino is a horse. Orsino sounds like a horse name.

My xbox 360 avatar is wearing Orsino's robes and his staff (because they look cool), and I wondered just who Orsino is.

It will be interesting to learn more about this character, especially if they have anything to do with blood magic.

I'm pretty sure Orsino is the duke of Illyria. That or a place in Florida.

Hah, my baby son's name is Orsino! *giggles uncontrollably*
Is it okay from me to like him and I don't even know anything about him excluding his name?

Orsino, the Lord in on the islands of Venetia in Twelfth Night, a comedy. Please tell me he has a line that reads:

"If music be the food of love...Play on!" lol
