If Bioware gives us only a bisexual cannibal as a m/m love interest after giving us a character who states explicitly he prefers women, I am going to be bitter far out of proportion to how much it should actually matter to me.

Especially when the article that mentioned "unconstrained romances" was a male PC mentioned Anders in not so many words.
amalgamation of human and spirit indeed.

DA2's romantic options are unconstrained. You meet a party member chances are you can bone them
(your sibling is an fortunate exception) Male, female, amalgamation of human and spirutal manifestation of justice, all are fair game....

Anders is 98% likely to be the bi option.

The reviewer played a male character.

This usually wouldn't be compelling evidence (bone them? Really?) but coupled with the kiss files, Hepler's aggression interrupt and it seems more and more likely.

A bisexual option, yes. I'm slowly coming around to the idea that this coul dbe true (though I refuse to believe it until it's confirmed!) and I'm still attached to the idea that all of the Love Interests will be bisexual. Because hey, it has not yet been debunked!

Unf.... Anders.... bisexual... WANT....! But Fenris is also a big pile of bisexual DOWANT, too.... *sigh*

I doubt all LIs would be bi for sheer resource reasons. That said he is technically bisexual option. The male one.

But I'll leave you to it.

Though lulz. I'll just stick with modding my M!Hawke and Fenris smexiness.

Anders was turned bi by a demonic spirit. Yay.

Anders let a male spirit inside him. He was bi before.

"Possess me, Justice!".

Heh.

I almost died laughing.

Interesting. I never thought about that preview in that context before. If I had, I would've been far more optimistic about Anders even back then. Good find!

Are we really calling that canon? If I were Jennifer Hepler, I would be rather wishing I hadn't gone "what the hell, it's only for the forum nuts" and given that extra little bit of oomph to the horror imagery in a few tossed off paragraphs.

No, Anders isn't really a cannibal. It definitely isn't canon. And, no, I'm not afraid of unleashing his mouth on my manHawke's.... man parts.

What's this about an "aggression interrupt?"  I'm just curious.

We were having a conversation about how the bi options are never the first character you meet and you meet the straight options first. She was quick to tell us not to generalize by pointing out Varric and Cassandra.  But...that didn't disprove the point. Even if you included everyone you still meet the straight LIs before the bi options.

Anders being bi however would break that pattern completely. You have him in the party when you pick up Fenris. Bi option available and met before the straight option.^_^

That said I'm drawing this out of my ass so she's free to come here and correct me.

That is,  assuming,  that you have to get Anders before Fenris.   In these games there's some freedom about who you can pick up and when.  I don't think her comment means more than it says.

On this subject I feel like the only *real* evidence we've got so far are the file names....
But even those may be A. unused or redundant,  or B. Just named differently,  considering the other love interests are actually strangely labelled.

I say wait for confirmation,  or at least until more reviews come out.  It'll be revealed and there's no reason to act like facts have occured, yeah?

Not canon... as in.... I don't think it'll come up in the game. I really, really doubt that Anders will be feasting on human flesh. But, then again, the game isn't out yet. *sigh*

And by "feasting on human flesh," I excluded... well, you can guess. This is the M/M thread, after all.

I don't know. That whole expedition thing looked pretty definite. That said I don't know that you pick up Anders before Fenris. Though while there is some freedom (like the order you pick up Sten and Leliana in) others not so much (Morrigan and Alistair). I guess we could take her comment at face value which would be reasonable but ruins all the fun of speculation! :D

I think the file names are right though. There would be little meaningin falsifying them.

Ah but a review has already come out highlighting Anders as a "unconstrained" romance option. ;)

Written by the person who wrote his character. I say that counts plenty.

I think I remember a dev reacting to that comment when it first appeared with some puzzlement, and suggesting that the reviewer may have concluded that you can romance everybody because flirtatiousdialogue choices are available with many characters, including those without full-fledged romance stories.

Heck, you could semi-flirt with Anders in Awakening. That didn't mean nothin'.

The puzzlement was over people suggesting that everyone was an option and mentioning Aveline. Despite her being debunked. The whole constrained and chances are you can bone them leading to people speculating that everyone was romanceable. Though I wish another review would come out so I can use that instead of this shakey one. (and who the hell uses "bone" in a review? What a twit.)

And we were told way ahead of time that there was no romances in Awakening. And male Warden couldn't hit on Anders. And saying "pretty girl. Right here." is something you could've said to Oghren for pete's sake. "Mad Dwarven stallion indeed."

Not to mention it's just plain inappropriate to romance your subordinates. I'm looking at you Mass Effect. <_<
The Warden didn't have time to romance anyone. (Plus there was a chance he/she was already in a relationship. And let's no get into the fact that Awakenings was an expansion pack (that felt more like DLC but whatever).

Yeah, I would think Bioware would want to avoid sowing confusion by creating a story they actually didn't want people to accept as part of the story? I could see them not utilizing it later since it's only on the forums, but why make a story that departs from canon? I'm not saying you're wrong; it just seems odd given how much thought and planning Bioware usually invests in these things.

Gaider often posts joking mini-dialogues for his characters -- are they canon too?

I wouldn't say the story was as tossed-off as a line about Flemeth's "appointment" to get her hair did, but it lies along the same continuum.

No? My only Awakening playthorugh was as queen of Ferelden, but I remember one Anders line ("I love you! ... but, er, not in that way") or some variation thereof, that appeared to me to have been written as a gay joke but then kept for female warden's too.

Uh..no that wasn't romantic. At all.

And the love thing was a bug. No matter how much I wised it was true. *looks longingly at Nate* :crying:

But the short stories were presented as a way to get to know the characters. This isn't the same as a joke about characters posted in conversations.
