In games specifically perhaps not.

But I wasnt talking about just games or just bioware games. I am talking about as a trope that has come from literature in general. Its very over done.

I'm guessing because elves are stereotypically portrayed as being more lithe and graceful than rugged and muscular. If Fenris is the option, I'll be disappointed as well. Elves just don't strike me as being attractive. Bioware can easily give us a gay character that breaks away from stereotypes. I mean, in the Ultimate Marvel universe, they had no problem making someone like Colossus gay.







If they can have a big rugged guy like Colossus be gay in Marvel, I'm pretty sure a company like Bioware can do it as well...

I's be interested in knowing about the preponderance of gay elves in literature because I've seen... zero. The closest is 'elf in a relationship with a human woman who is also dating a human man.'

Laurel Hamilton has a bunch of bisexual male elves in her works but she also has bisexual male humans, werewolves, vampires, other things. She writes erotica.

I never heard about any bisexual or homsexual in any shape or form of literature, either. Zevran was the first, in fact. Except if you're counting fanfics of Lord of the Rings, and I don't read the ones with Legolas because elves bores me. God knows why.

There are same-sex couples in fantasy literature though they're much more rare than science fiction. However, outside of DnD, elves and dwarves are infrequent, especially when you get to works written after the 1980s.

In any case, "elves are gay", as a trope, does not exist. Rather, people are correlating the popular conception of effeminate elves as being a likelier candidate for being gay.

When I said I'd rather not another elf bi M/M, that was working under the assumption he would be kind of Zevran or Cammen like, and be rather effeminate. I shouldn't...species profile(?) like that, but I did. I figured, just so we had something different.

Honestly, though, nothing I've seen nor heard about Fenris suggests he's an effeminate girly-man. If we're objecting to elves on the sole reason "they are an elf", that's silly. It's been done once, so I don't see a pattern. I do, however, see a "shady rogue" pattern when it comes to bisexual LIs. Sky, Silk Fox, Leliana, Zevran, Isabela...

But, as the other male companion has not been revealed, I reserve judgment on which I'd rather be the bi LI.

It's not my fault, what I read about Fenris just don't... what's the word? endear me. Also, if Fenris is the S/S LI, Varric won't be, and that's not cool :<
