There hasn't been a gay side for earrings since the late 70's early 80's... just fyi.Dhiro wrote...
I don't think he ever was specific about this. In fact, when he said things like how he loves robes because he can make sex so fast without the templars noticing, this can be using in any sex. However, when Oghren said things like "Uh, Templar big and meanie, what you gonna do with that big sword?" he expressed disgust. He could be pretending it, meaning a "I NEED HELP TO ACCEPT MY GAYNESS" LI.
He also has a earring on the gay side, but Ducan had too, so that means little.
And if it does end up being Anders (one brief shot in a video is not enough to convince me) and if he is s/s romancable, I really hope it's not as an "i need help accepting my gayness" LI.
It's just... such a yaoi-ish concept. The reality is much less romantic than people make it out to be...
LIES! It was in Two and a Half Men, IT MUST BE TRUTH!
Anyway, accepting my own sexuality was already tiring enough, I don't think I have the energy to help "Anders" too. Of course, maybe I could relate to him and like him more? Who knows. I'm almost sure it's Anders, but until a confirmation I'll stick with the " ".

I don't know. If we can be allowed to help the character through their issues of their sexuality, I think it might be interesting - playing Hawke as the experienced 'always known and been accepted for it' guy who helps the other guy through these things and a relationship blossoms. That was one of my disappointments about romancing Sky in Jade Empire, that all of his coming to terms with it happened offscreen so we don't get to see him go from apprehensive about it to accepting. To me, that'd be interesting story-telling, and, because of the game's timeframe, it would be an interesting way to show the passage of time for the character, comparing who he was at the beginning to who he became at the end.
Given that the romances aren't really a core element, being optional and all, it would probably be closer to what was in JE than what you're describing though. Remember there are going to be time leaps in order to tell the story over a decade. Some stuff will end up happening off screen just due to the structure of the story.
That's one of the reasons I'd personally just prefer an uncomplicated LI. Someone who manages to be interesting yet not so overly complicated that we feel like we don't really know them... does that make sense?

And a significant chunk of my disappointment in Sky's romance was that I was always left with the impression that the game up to the arrival at the palace took place over the course of a week AT MOST, which means that Sky goes from uncertain to ready to deliver a declaration of love in the space of twelve to twenty-four hours. I don't feel that there really was time for the internalizing, and, as that's an important aspect of the characterization, I feel that it shouldn't be at least entirely internalized. It's like how you can discuss matters of Marjolaine's reappearance in Leiliana's life in a couple of conversations - for her, this is a moment that could redefine her life, and she shouldn't have her thoughts and feelings about it happen entirely in the background when, at the same time, you've developed a friendship/romance with her, because it's something that she should discuss.

I'd be perfectly happy with Varric, Fenris, or (if m-mage is Finn) Finn. Sebastian less so, at least what we've seen of him so far.

Your character has the same nose as Sebastian!
Right, having just one nose between the pair of us would be way too confusing. We'd have to trade it back and forth at need, and then when we were making out we wouldn't be able to tell whose face it was supposed to be from moment to moment, and it would gradually become detached and fall to the ground at our feet with a soft plop, and we'd both be left noseless like twin Voldemorts.
Not hot.

All companions seem promising to me. But I do wonder if Varric being a bisexual love interest could be interpreted as offensive.

If Varric looked anything like Scott Caan in the facial region it would be another story entirely.... a tasty tasty story not suitable for children....HopHazzard wrote...
I think it would be awesome. But then I'm attracted to short, broad, and hairy in real life. *wanders off to look at pictures of Scott Caan*
I don't get the offended thing either.

Oh I get what you`re getting it at here.
Guys she`s saying that the gay community could be offended and re act to a dwarf male LI as not as good as a human gay LI. Personally I don`t agree with this logic, but that`s what she was getting it.

Varric is hinted to be a hedonist. Dwarven romances have not been explored much, they are generally not considered conventional, appearance-wise. The threads that have suggested dwarves as love interests have been bombarded by people thinking they look child-like or too unattractive. And I do mean the unreasonable people, there are plenty of those who politely expressed their preferences.
Merill's introduction was a mild inferno, because she looked different. The alien love interests in Mass Effect went through that as well, especially Garrus and Thane.
But yes, people could even get offended, next to a loud chorus of disappointment. This is still a tender subject.
