It really annoys me when people talk about officially unconfirmed NPCs as not only confirmed companions but confirmed LIs.



Its one thing to wish and hope and something else to spread disinformation. Oh dear.



I am still squeeing over the impending arrival of the game at all that I really dont care about details at this point lol.

It's just... such a yaoi-ish concept. The reality is much less romantic than people make it out to be...

Anyway, accepting my own sexuality was already tiring enough, I don't think I have the energy to help "Anders" too. Of course, maybe I could relate to him and like him more? Who knows. I'm almost sure it's Anders, but until a confirmation I'll stick with the " ".

I don't know. If we can be allowed to help the character through their issues of their sexuality, I think it might be interesting - playing Hawke as the experienced 'always known and been accepted for it' guy who helps the other guy through these things and a relationship blossoms. That was one of my disappointments about romancing Sky in Jade Empire, that all of his coming to terms with it happened offscreen so we don't get to see him go from apprehensive about it to accepting. To me, that'd be interesting story-telling, and, because of the game's timeframe, it would be an interesting way to show the passage of time for the character, comparing who he was at the beginning to who he became at the end.

Given that the romances aren't really a core element, being optional and all, it would probably be closer to what was in JE than what you're describing though. Remember there are going to be time leaps in order to tell the story over a decade. Some stuff will end up happening off screen just due to the structure of the story.
That's one of the reasons I'd personally just prefer an uncomplicated LI. Someone who manages to be interesting yet not so overly complicated that we feel like we don't really know them... does that make sense?

Romances have always been optional in BioWare's games, but at the same time, they're also for some a draw. Given that DA2 is the first of their games to cover this expanse of time, I would expect them to want to take advantage of this new style and have these romances take time and happen over a period of time, rather than potentially being the characters just swept up in the emotional high of battle.

And a significant chunk of my disappointment in Sky's romance was that I was always left with the impression that the game up to the arrival at the palace took place over the course of a week AT MOST, which means that Sky goes from uncertain to ready to deliver a declaration of love in the space of twelve to twenty-four hours. I don't feel that there really was time for the internalizing, and, as that's an important aspect of the characterization, I feel that it shouldn't be at least entirely internalized. It's like how you can discuss matters of Marjolaine's reappearance in Leiliana's life in a couple of conversations - for her, this is a moment that could redefine her life, and she shouldn't have her thoughts and feelings about it happen entirely in the background when, at the same time, you've developed a friendship/romance with her, because it's something that she should discuss.

If Varric looked anything like Scott Caan in the facial region it would be another story entirely.... a tasty tasty story not suitable for children....

I don't get the offended thing either.

Oh I get what you`re getting it at here. 

Guys she`s saying that the gay community could be offended and re act to a dwarf male LI as not as good as a human gay LI. Personally I don`t agree with this logic, but that`s what she was getting it.

People disliked, and took offense to Zevran, for seemingly being a stereotypical bisexual.

Varric is hinted to be a hedonist. Dwarven romances have not been explored much, they are generally not considered conventional, appearance-wise. The threads that have suggested dwarves as love interests have been bombarded by people thinking they look child-like or too unattractive. And I do mean the unreasonable people, there are plenty of those who politely expressed their preferences.



Merill's introduction was a mild inferno, because she looked different. The alien love interests in Mass Effect went through that as well, especially Garrus and Thane.

But yes, people could even get offended, next to a loud chorus of disappointment.This is still a tender subject.
