With the color code the dialogue wheel is using, red = severe/aggressive intent. I assume all the flirt icons will be gold for that reason?

Because that was the difference. The heart was golden when M!Hawke kissed Isabela. Maybe a normal red heart is just for flirting and a golden one is for romance actions? Like a kiss or a touch?
I'm not sure. I've only seen one, and it was golden.
Hm...why can't more people have screenies with hearts in them?
Dang reviewers never giving us decent screencaps.

Pfft.
You know, perhaps we all just assumed the hearts would be red, because, you know, hearts are red. Perhaps we assumed it and now have made our brains think we've seen it somewhere.
Or, perhaps we have seen it somewhere. Perhaps a gold heart does mean the start of a romance, and red hearts are more flirtatious, less serious, or ones that build you up in the direction of romance before you've actually gotten to the point where it triggers.
Or maybe they're all just gold and we've got no more to go on than we did 24 hours ago.

Gah!
Where's Magnum PI (and his fantabulous moustache/chest hair) when you need him? He'd find the clues.

Ryz: I googled 'Dragon Age 2 heart icon' and the 2nd picture under images is your avatar. ^__^
LOL!
I am indeed love. <3
Though...can't we at least get a bone on the icons devs? T_T
Gah. That guide needs to leak already.
LEAK damn you!
Or at least have the page with the icons hackable!

That google image search also led me to this, so not a totally wasted search.

There's actually someone you should PM in this thread to get the pic, but I quickly sent it to you to save some time. Plus I think said person is asleep at the moment.
EDIT: Guys, PM me if you want the pic. Let's not turn this into a spam thread again.

You guys think Fenn (he was the original wielder of the fabulous HawkexFenris banner, right?) will mind if I steal the banner Ryzaki has in her sig?
Nah he doesn't care.
Or he didn't care when I did it so /shrugs.

Now google image searching 'dragon age 2 romance dialogue' (safe search off -- natch) and for the sake of Andraste's knickers if there's not some freaking awesome pictures in there.
Nothing about our heart situation, but boy ... saucy and lol-worthy manips a-plenty.

I noticed they didn't mention Bethany when introducing the party members, probably because they played mages and didn't realise she was a possibility. If they managed to miss her, I think they stayed on the surface, leaving me with the more obvious and easy interpretation that Fenris is a s/s Li. We still don't know if they are correct!
The heart is not gold, it glows red. Think of a red lightsaber, it's white-ish in the middle and the red is just on the edges. The pictures are just not te best quality.
The reason I personally think that they are all bi is unrelated to the screenshot though. The LIs in general seem to have a bigger impact on the story. Remember, it's not about the epic battles, it's now more about the decisions and interactions of the PC (according to the article). Bigger variety of LIs means more alternative stories, which seems to be the point of the game!
Here's my translation of the excerpt I'm reffering too again:
"Depending on what you decide in key situations, which business and sexual partners you choose and on how you react in the mass of throughout excellent written respectively spoken dialogs, Varric describes your Hawke ultimately as celebrated folk hero or feared "Wutbürger" (This can't be translated, it's a weird newly created German fashion word, it means basically an angry citizen who's getting eager to protest and rebel because the political system sucks, according to wikipedia. I assume the author just wanted to use an interesting word.)
This time the focus doesn't lie so much on description of epic battles, but the emotional believable tale of lusts and troubles of the playercharacters."

Compared to this:

It looks pretty similar.
HA! And it looks more like the diplomatic nice option! But it's still gold!
Not that it proves anything.

Here it is: http://dragonage.wik.../Dialogue_Wheel
As I said, I don't think it's very accurate.

The thing is, I haven't seen a non-golden heart. And, as someone else brought up, it makes sense for it to be golden, because red usually denotes aggression and negativity in this game.

How does a red heart express aggression and negativity?
The diplomatic branch is green. Why would the devs change the color of a common symbol to it's complete opposite?
I could see making a golden heart action related but changing the heart color to something like blue just seems...odd.
Not saying they didn't do do it (they have done stranger things) its just weird.

In this game, red denotes aggression and negativity. Like how the diamond and mask icons are both purple, you know they share something similar. They may have colored it golden so as not to confuse. I never said it would be blue.

Makes sense. I have a feeling though I'm going to be confused anyway. The guide has all the symbols right?
