In my printed magazine pics it looks more like the lightsaber effect, a very pale bright orange tinge and slightly more reddish on the fringes, but definately glowy. There's a small list with the symbols and what they mean and the other symbols have glowy effects as well. It looks a bit different, because they have more structure that a heart shape. the olive twig is black and the green comes from a green light source behind it. the theater mask is black and has a purple light source from the back which gives it its colour. the heart is its own loightsource, hence the paleness in its core and the color on the edges...like a lightsaber.

The theatre mask isn't black...

It is. it is a a black shape with holes for eyes and mouth which are coloured purple and it has more purple outside the black shape. Everyone assossiates this as a purple mask, like it's meant to be, but if you deconstruct the picture to its base elements, it's a black thing with purple light source from behind it. I was just describing the different glowing effects of the icons, because the heart is glowing too, which is important when determining it's color.

Yes, but as for Aveline she's not confirmed as one of the romance options...so it's a different matter.

hmmmm....but I still hope for Anders being the bi guy. <3 Maybe all of the 4 main romances are bisexual and aveline and sebastian are straight and no "full romances", so that there are still some straight people in the game.

Ah, yes, "straight people." We have dismissed that claim.

So, according to the image, Fenris is saying something like "Had I known Anso was such a capable man, I might have asked him to look earlier."

Your responses are:

<3 You flatterer.
I'll help you.
I'm not interested.

ETA: Alright, I just searched through the demo files, and Anso is indeed someone from Fenris' personal quest.

Okay, let's face it. Fenris seems to be a bisexual romance option as the heart is shown. It wouldn't make much sense if he wasn't a romance option and the heart is still available. When I just try to flirt with a straight guy it's not necessary to have a heart symbol for it. Plus, the text with "aufgestockt" can actually just mean there are more bi options now. Otherwise the magazine writers would have used the word in a rather wrong way. I'm German and it doesn't make much sense to use this sentence, especially this one word, in a way where only pseudo flirt possibilities are available.

We've already been told we'll be able to flirt with people we can't romance. The heart is there to let you know the tone of the response.

So let's say Fenris compliments your skill in battle. You're three available repsonses could be something like "Thanks", "It was nothing." "Who asked you?" Now the last response is clearly aggressive, but the other two are ambiguous. But if you have a heart icon next to "Thanks" then the player knows that if they select that option, they're going to get something more than just a thank you. If a line is meant to be flirty, it will have the heart icon whether the character you're speaking to can be romanced or not.

I know what you're talking about.

Also if all elves were gay my Dalish Elf and HN would like a word with Tamlen and Cammen. <_<

Well. I don't have nothing against the LI being a elf, I just find Fenris ugly.

yes, maybe. but than it's proven that the writer of the magazine did some mistakes or that he didn't go after the male romance possibility, because just to pseudo-flirt with other people doesn't mean there are expanded bisexual romance options.

Yes, but my point (and I'm sure the point of many others) is it would be pointless and cruel to have a person be able to flirt with Fenris, who IS a damn LI option, and not have it go anywhere. With Aveline and many other people we already know it won't go anywhere. Or not anywhere great, anyway.

EDIT: Anyway, I'm done arguing about this. The back and forth exchange is getting exhausting. =]

OMG not "another" gay elf! I want BOTH gay elves! B) ...at the same time. Carver could watch... he needs to grow up sooner or later.

I guess this is the next big question then:

We know you can flirt with non-LI companions (and, I assume, non-companion NPCs) and have them knock you back. This flirting is just for fun, and also I guess for those who don't know who the LIs are, to try their luck anyway.

However, can you flirt with romanceable LIs, but have them knock you back if you are the wrong gender? Or are these LI flirt lines restricted to the actual romances?

Sorry guys, I know I'm terribly late, but who should I ask to see the incriminated picture? If nothing, it's a new Fenris pic :D

@elirian I respect that you're done, but I'm just going to say: Do you think the people who wrote the Alistair romance so that he would dump you in the end unless you were human are now above writing pointless and cruel romance lines?

My thoughts exactly. we know it goes nowhere when flirting with aveline so that we don't assume something special when trying it. But as for the 4 confirmed romances we expect more than just pseudo-flirtlines. And it would be a bit too much effort to give all characters pseudo flirt answers when it leads nowhere, don't you think?

Why are you assuming that everyone knows who the LIs are? It's not pointless or cruel, it's to allow your Hawke to like whomever he or she likes.

Asking why this is allowed if it leads to no where is like asking why so many games have flavor dialogue that doesn't actually change the outcome.

Those two situations are so completely different it's not even funny. And Alistair only dumped you if you didn't harden him.

And no, I don't think they're above it but as someone below me stated having the option to flirt with everyone and have it lead nowhere would be a bit much. As we're often reminded, it's resource intensive and all that.
