Ahh sorry, I chose the wrong words. of course you can flirt with straight NPC's but not when you're the same gender. That was my point. @saibh
But only when they reciprocated. You could flirt with Dairren or Iona, because because, if you did, they were interested in you, too. In DAII, we know for a fact you'll be able to flirt with people who aren't going to.
My point being, just because DAO didn't let you, doesn't mean DAII won't either. For a long time people have asked for the ability to flirt with whomever you want, even if they're not interested. In DAII, we know we'll be able to do that. That could be what we're seeing with Fenris.
It's not cruel. After all, you can flirt with Aveline. And, no, that's not any different than being able to flirt with a straight LI. It's not like too many people outside these forums will know who the LIs are before they play. By your logic, it's cruel to let you flirt with Aveline (or Varric) if they don't feel the same because you can't be in a relationship with them.
I just wouldn't think that way. Instead, there will be times when you can flirt with someone and be turned down, just like in real life. A bigger roleplaying angle.
It's okay, if they let you know that they aren't interested in the same gender. There are many straight guys on earth who "flirt" with each other without having serious attentions. But at least, they should make it obvious for the player I think.
