As for NPC relationships...male homosexual relationships are underrepresented in DA:O. At least somewhat, imo.

Ah yes, agreed.

I do hope if they have npc relationships, they won't all be easy jump-the-wagon sorts. Maybe a few out there that can go just as in-depth as a romance with a party member. Like an npc side-quest...maybe the handsome mHawke discovers a young woman down on her luck and helps her over the years, slowly developing a thing for each other. You know...a side storyline like that. Basic, it would be nice if not all of the npc available relationships are shallow. (not saying they will be, or that all of them should have complex storylines. that's asking to much, i know. xD)

I admit, I would like to see all bi LI's. Note: not an all bi cast, just LI's.

If you can obtain a maximum of 8 characters, 4 of whom are love interests (2 male, 2 female) then I fail to see the harm. I know some people have stated it's 'unrealistic', I just disagree.

After all, it's not like you're sampling from a group of people who were all born and raised in the same place.

Hawke, his/her family, and Aveline are from Ferelden. Isebela is from Rivain, but made her home on the open sea. Merrill is from a Dalish Clan. Verric is from Kirkwall. Fenris is from Tevinter.

They all come from very different places, different backgrounds, different social groups. Taking this into account, having 4 party members who happen to bat for both teams really doesn't strike me as reality shattering.

Regardless, this has probably all been debated before, and there are obviously pros and cons to both sides of the debate. I just think for a video game, it would be nice to have the LI's available to all. ;D

It's probably asking too much. For now anyway. They'll focus on party member romances.

It would be nice to see an obviously gay male couple in DA2. And none of that typical caricature "look - it's funny because they're gay!" stuff.

I agree. 'Camp gay couples are so lol' is pretty lame.

I always disliked the overly-done Hollywood stereotype. I have several gay friends who never act like that. (sorry to those that do. I mean no offense, just stating a personal opinion. -.-)

MorningBird, I agree. Let's huddle in a corner and shield ourselves from the horde of anti-bi Li for all armies. xD While we're at it, I'm taking Fenris and Alistair hostage. >8)

It's not something I care that much about. I would just prefer to have a mix of gay, bisexual, and heterosexual love interests.

Anyway, I expect to see lesbian couples in DA2, but not any gay male ones.

please don't jinx it! I'll never forgive bioware. not a second time, at least. specially when they did it for the first game. (in that case, I'll denounce DA2 as a sequal and brainwash myself to believe there was only ever DAO, and that Alistair will realize his feelings for my grey warden whilst they travel rebuilding the wardens after leaving Ferelden in Anora's hands. *hey, no one ever said I couldn't make up my own story after the credits finished rolling. Alistair never actually officially rejected my mage. He just avoided the topic for the time being. xD*)

Let's just hope they don't do that, ugh. I've been worrying about it because DA2 is clearly going in a Mass Effect direction with some things and I hope the writers don't get too heavily influenced by the "how can we market this to douchey 19 year old boys playing xbox in the basement" factor.

On the other hand, as much as it sickens me to say it, the game is taking a slightly anime influence and as much as I dislike anime, it might mean they'll be more likely to add in m/m romance because a great deal of anime is already marketed at girls who like shiny spikey haired guys hooking up. Not all, obviously, but enough.

We have such little information on the game compared to most releases (by this point in development, Fallout New Vegas was practically mapped out for me!) so it's hard to tell. I'll cross my fingers and hope for the best.

lol, to be honest, I don't think there's a horde to hide from. xD  People disagree, but they're not exactly armed with the usual variety of pitchforks and flaming torches.  ;D

Regarding the possibility of the M/M romance being eliminated from future DA installments (such as DA:2)... I personally don't think it will happen, but--being the cautious pessimist that I am--believe it's a valid fear.

I liked Origins, and have a great amount of faith in the development team as a result, but disappointment happens.

I probably wouldn't pick up DA:3 (assuming it's even in the cards) if an M/M romance was excluded in DA:2.  I know 'romance' isn't the whole of Dragon Age, but for me, it is that little something extra that separates it from every other fantasy game out there.  Dragon Age would feel like a whole new game to me, and not one I'd be interested in.

There would definately be no love lost between me and BioWare.  They're still a great company that makes great games, I just... honestly wouldn't be interested in this particular franchise any more. xD  Sad as that may be.

To clarify, I was referring to NPC relationships between NPCs. I don't expect see any gay NPC relationships. If there is, I wouldn't be surprised if it involved stereotypes and lisps.

Well there was the whole Herren and Wade thing from origins (Though due to some stuff from a certain dlc, I'm starting to think that their relationship didn't count) and then Branka and Hespith. :D

Herren and Wade weren't obviously a couple. Some people saw them that way, but others though they were just this blacksmith with a lisp and the shop keeper who was constantly getting annoyed at him.

That how it should be imo, no need to go around parading the standard camp stereotype. Most games(well most anything for that matter...), the gay couples are usually the comedic relief pulling off sassy one liners and being overly sexual.Herron and Wade pulled it off without being obvious and offensive.

ESRB confirmed same-sex romance.

Also, in an interview they said there will be LI's for all genders and orientations.

M/M and F/F have been confirmed... But which LI they are has yet to be seen.

are options for players of all genders and orientations."

Dear Maker, I know we're not on the best of terms since I ruined your prophet's ashes and all, but please let Fenris be a romance for male charactes. I also pray for clean sheets in the Alienage and those former werewolves seeking a new life. Please don't let the Reverend Mother preach too long tomorrow. Amen.

I myself do not really have any prefferences as i am not gay but i applaud the courage Bioware has shown to include them in the game. This decision could not have been easy which has so far been my experience with decisions in which the most difficult choices are usually the most correct, nothing is ever easy or free.

I just hope someone who has experience in that type of relationship was involved in the creation process as this should make the romances credible. I hope it is not just an after thought tossed at the community to shut them up, but as much effort as was expended on the "normal" romances was devoted to the gay romances.

Enjoy folks and kudos Bioware.

David Gaider will ensure that there are m/m Relationships. Of that I am 100% confident. I wouldn't rule out Sebastian just because he is dlc, nor would I rule out 3 male/3 female li ala mass effect 2. Maybe we can get some genuine gay people and not just the safe bi characters.

Leoroc, I agree that the Bi option is a 'safe' one and that I would like to see some pure 'gay' characters, but I can also see how it might be necessary one. Bioware get enough flak as it is when it uses Bisexuality in a M/M situation (and to a lesser extent in a F/F situation), perhaps they do need to pick their battles and maybe even stereotype characters at the expense of daring leaps for the LGBT gaming community for the sake of those fans such concepts do trouble.

I would also feel bad restricting a character to just 'gay' because, I know how much it sucks when the perfect LI for your character isn't interested in your gender.

I also think your avvie is rather good looking and THAT makes me feel like such a loser xD

Let the straights feel the pain of many lgbts when it comes to an LI not interested due to gender =p

And thank you, was so happy to find those mods for DAO character.

But I'm far too nice for that! There's a reason why my mage ALWAYS end up as part Spirit Healer, and it has very little to do with gameplay. x)

PC users get a lot of stuff the console users don't get, that really hit home when I saw a friend making a mage and noticed the 'expression' bar in the character creator. We don't get that, or the option to mod, really.

On another M/M related note. Not Varric, please Bioware NOT Varric. Fenris, ohmymaker yes, Sebastian would be good, but Varric.... NOOOOOO! /drama ceases.

As I know very little about the characters personalities, I'm going for the looks - so I want Varric or 'Anders'. I don't think Sebastian would be a LI, but if he is then I suppose he is okay. Fenris, no. If he is the M/M LI I don't think I will have motivation to do the M/M romance at all.

Am I the only one here who hopes the LI wont be human?

I just think non-human Li are very different and a lot more interesting, more so than bland human relationships. (Okay, well I did romance Morrigan in one playthrough...but she's far from a "normal" human)
