Am I the only one here who hopes the LI wont be human?
I just think non-human Li are very different and a lot more interesting, more so than bland human relationships. (Okay, well I did romance Morrigan in one playthrough...but she's far from a "normal" human)
I like romancing the humans as a non-human (culture clash is fun!), but not as a human. When I played male Cousland, I romanced Zevran, which seemed far more interesting than Leliana, Morrigan, or (had I the option to mod) Alistair.
So I rather hope that the Merrill, Fenris and Varric are LI in one way or another.
I'd love it if Sebastian was a bi LI though. I really want him to get together with my maleHawke!

I love Bioware for including that. I think they believe they're cartering mostly to straight guys with the f/f options and gay guys with the m/m options but it's really nice that we girls get something this way too
As for who's possible as a LI,I'd say Anders is ruled out (he falls in love with a female warden, but not with a male one in Awakening) and while I'm hoping for Sebastian (for him...and every other male chara) I think it's probably not him due to him only being part of a DLC. Which would leave Fenris and Varric.
I agree with people saying that Bioware might want to avoid having similar characters be the m/m option in two games,but...which one of them would that rule out then? Fenris and Zevran are similar in that they're both elfs...but Varric and Zevran seem more alike personality wise...
While I would love for Hawke to romance Fenris,I think it might actually be better if Varric was the m/m option, going away from the gay-elf-stereotyp. Also, the Fenris being an ex-slave and his master not letting him be thing kinda made be think that Fenris treatment included rape (although those connection probably just sprung up from my sick, twisted mind...) which could lead to some negative implications...
But I wouldn'd mind any of the charas be the m/m option so I'm just gonna wait and see
One last thing,
I have yet to meet a woman that thinks letting her female character flirt with a woman will turn her into a real-life lesbian or make people question her womanhood or whatever....
Damn that was a long post

I was sooooo glad to know that there would be m/m options (or at least an m/m option). In fact, I'm such a big slashfangirl that I considered that in DA:O one of my main reasons to like the game

I hold no particular interested in f/f but I already know that both my Hawke(s) will hook up with everyone they will be able too, male or female. Only having m/f romances gets so boring IMO....

One last thing, peopleguys saying it weirds them out when a gay character hits on them makes me laugh so hard. Not only because it's usually the same guys that think f/f is the best thing ever. But also it's just really ridiculous, how pathetic do you have to be to feel threatend in your manliness by a bunch of pixels!?????

I know what you mean about m/f relationships getting dull. Tbh, I find myself watching TV or films and thinking 'oh look, the guy and the girl ended up together, how very novel'. It's like watching a variant of the same story over and over. That's part of why I love DA too, and I don't think the devs would pull a ME2 and only offer straight options.
I don't think 'Anders' can be ruled out as the m/m option yet, until we get some more proof that it is actually Anders. I agree with you about Fenris though, because I'm not sure he'll turn out to be a LI at all, not with the heaps of issues he must have. Varric would be interesting... though I'd rather him not be the only m/m LI.
Some guys are so ridiculous about m/m options. I posted something before about ME2, that it should have had male romance options from the start, instead of having to rely on mods for the PC version. So of course some guys start saying that they don't like even the potential for their character to be gay, because it will automatically lead to handbag swinging and swapping make-up tips. Aside from being homophobic, it's also sexist, because part of what they seem to fear is being seen as a woman instead of a man. Anyway, um, rant over.

Zevran and Fenris seem pretty different to me. Only similarities being male elven pretty boys.
Agreed. Their characters seem to be at complete opposite ends of the spectrum.
Skinny flaxen haired emo elf boys who were forced into a life of servitude against their wills and subsiquently turned into unrepentent killing machines on the run from their former masters?
There's even the striking resemblance to Zevran's concept art...
I'm not saying they're exactly alike. I'm not even saying the similarities should necessarily bar Fenris from being a s/s LI. Their personalities will probably be miles apart.
But to claim they're opposites with nothing at all in common just strikes me as a bit silly if not a complete exaggeration.
But I'll stop there to avoid this turning into another Fenris thread.
Personally, if we're going on just wishes and not liklihood, I'd prefer Sebastian to anyone else that has been confirmed. Although if the mystery Mage is Anders (which I'm still not convinced) then he wins just because my MageHawke and Anders would be a force to reckon with.

As for Anders, according to the epilogue he either dies or returns to the keep...and stays there. So I doubt it's Anders, then again maybe they have a logical reason for him to appear.

I really don't know. Probably is the height. If I'm being honest, that's why I find him so appealing. I have a thing for short, muscley dudes.
As far as the Anders thing goes, the writers are on record saying they're perfectly willing to ignore the epilogue cards if they think they've got a good story to tell. Personally, I'm agnostic about it. I acknowledge the possibility that it is Anders, but I've yet to see sufficient evidence to prove that it is. So I'm just waiting for more info.

I don't understand what part of Fenris is 'anime'. I myself happen to love anime, and thus as an anime person, i don't see what you see in him as anime. His hairstyle in his pictures is a normal hairstyle I've seen in real life and other games/movies. It simply stands out more because its silver. But mind you, the character creation system in DAO allowed us to make silver haired characters, and silver hair was not that uncommon in the DAO world despite the age relation to it. So what other part of him is anime?
Furthermore, what part about him makes him seem emo? Just the hair? That's a rather stereotyping judgement, just based on a little hair falling in front of the eyes. If anything, he seems more like Jack, pissed at what was done to him and ready to kick everyone's ass. (just curious)
I personally agree that whatever the situation is, the LI's shouldn't all be human. Because I happen to like the interracial dramas myself. Elf and human for me, personally. ^^'

For me with Varric, its not the height so much. He's to stogy (bulky), has almost no neck, and the nose... As an artsy type, the details bug me more then most, i guess. He's definately good looking among his fellow dwarves, but again not in my taste.

His short, stylized silver hair with darker skin tone covered in arcane markings, unconventiaonal armor, pretty face with sharp features, wields a huge sword, lithe and tall with a dark past and demenor makes me think of a typical Final Fantasy character instead of an anime protagenist. Which to be honest is something I don't find attractive at all. Granted you could make a character like that in DAO, but thing is that you'd be the only one like that.

I like bulky. He looks solid. And I find him quite handsome. Really the only thing I would do differently would be to soften his jaw a bit.
I don't get the anime thing with Fenris either. Probably just because he's pretty and people don't actually know what anime actually is.

I personally doubt that. there are tons like that. That's pretty stereotyping of you, though. xD The arcane markings are his story behind the lyrium. If done in anime, it wouldn't be so gritting, but far more appealing in their design or representation. The silver hair again was not uncommon, specially among elves. Elves themselves have a typicaly pretty face, that's part of their race design. The huge sword is available to all warriors types, and anyone in the game can weild a big sword if they pay for it. And the lithe factor, again, is an elven race thing...but I doubt he's taller then a human, considering again the racial design of elves.
But thank you for explaining to me your own point of view, that helps me better understand. Still, I myself like Fenris. xD

I like bulky and short. Though his overly chiseled jaw made me lol when I first saw it. He reminds me of the typical crime lord or mob boss, maybe even a DA Shadow Broker. Its not often that you get a chance to fall in love with a dwarf, and a dwarven "Godfather" no less.

I do admit that I am shamefully biased, but thats what I thought when when I saw Fenris for the first time. It maybe stereotyping, or just well be as such.
I don't want him as the only M/M LI though. I just don't find him attractive in the very least.

And what does a human male have to do in this game to not be an Alistair clone? It is rather silly to be annoyed about the heritage of Sebastian, when one has not seen the game yet. Compare the elves and human nobles in March.

Don't feel bad lol, there's nothing wrong when I admit personal guilt.
In DA there were 2 bi options and 4 het options, why not add 2 more to the bi group? Have Fenris and Varric be bi options for the guys and have Isabella and Merrill be bi options for the womenfolk. They're contrasting personalities offer many options to gamers who want to go over the border.
Isaballa would make a good FF character, and so would Merrill I think.

They don't have to say that, but there are other ways to make it more explicit and the in game stuff was still lost on many people.
