I'm assuming Fenris' gold refers to that shiny new location in the DA2 map.

His...home base you mean?

How does that disprove or prove him being an LI? *is confused*

I had the same issues with Origins... I played female elf mages who romanced Leliana and did all the same things. They were all Arcane Warriors, and I always used Leliana, Wynne, and Morrigan where ever I went. It wasn't until my most recent (and "canon") playthrough that I branched out at all, and that was only to play the.... (continued)

I never had that problem. My first playthrough was an elf mage who was kind and softspoken and always did what was right. (in love with Alistair, but sadly could only play friend for now)
My second playthrough was an elf dalish archer who was impish and funloving, curious about the outside world and would stubbornly stand for what he believed in. (got along with alistair, irritated sten, flirted loosely with Zevran)
Then I played a city elf thief who had a problem bowing to authority and humans, and was extremely curious about the Dalish with dreams of running away to join them. (romanced Zevran fully)
Then I did a human noble...didn't last long cause I dislike how...bulky...the human build is. (I like lean, athletic bodies vs the overly muscled...probably why i like the elves over the humans. xD)

And now, replaying a mage on my pc, I'm inspired to start a playthrough as a dwarf noble who's proud, stern, and at times harsh.

With DA2, I don't see any of this. All I see is a human, either gender and any of three classes, with the same background story. I'll probably make the same decisions. I can only alter his voice through emotions now. (which only worked so much in ME) And then the system changes. The dumbed down inventory (really? You have to put star markings on things so people can figure out the best equipment now?). The implimentation of a lot of ME's features into DA...I'm growing worried after watching that playthrough video. :?

Yup, exact opposite of me.

Personally, I don't like to play stark characters who are either 'all good' or 'all bad'.  I Like to play characters that react differently depending on their situation, company, and general temperment, which was REALLY hard for me to do in Origins.  It was difficult for me to play different characters when I couldn't select the tone of my Warden's voice. Example: the last time I tried to be sarcastic in DA:O, I accidently flirted with Morrigan and began a romance. =/

I've done three run-throughs as a city elf, and that was ONLY because when my first city elf play-through was completed, I rolled a mage... and played them EXACTLY the same way I played my city elf.  Not being able to accurately pick up on the tone of the dialogue had a lot to do with that.

I don't really mind having to play as a human (and I only played as elves in Origins, so that's saying something, I guess.)  In DAO, your origin did have relevance to the plot.  Example, city elves, mages, and dwaves returning to their old 'homes' to find them in turmoil, the human noble revenge entanglement with Howe... I consider the Dalish origin to be the weakest simply because you see no familiar faces in it, but even that origin had relevance.  The boons at the end of the game also reflected back on the Warden's origin and experiances.

In DA2, however, the story depends upon the PC being a human refugee from Lothering, so as much as I liked the origin stories of DAO, I won't miss them in DA2.  You're playing as a human who had to take charge of their family when their father passed away, but whether or not they took to the task, resented it, or was completely indifferent is still open to player interpretation.  They can hate their family.  They can love their family.  They can hate and then love their family, etc... there's still plenty of thought the player can put into each Hawke they decide to role.  Plus, Hawke can still be fully customized (I WANT TO CUSTOMIZE A HAWKE SO BAD.)

I have no comment on the inventory, since it was disabled in the demo.  I can't really call it dumbed down if I haven't tried it out for myself.  That being said, I like that all of the party members have their own individual looks this time around.  Leliana, Zevran, and my PC always ended up looking exactly the same after a while (all studded leather armor, all the same quality), which spoiled their individuality for me a little, insofar as appearances go.

But more on-topic (and back to the conversation wheel) I really felt disconnected from the romance scenes in DAO (and I'm not talking about the 'sexy time' scenes, but the relationship building scenes.)  They felt very... unemotional, because the Warden would just stand around with the same wide-eyed vacant expression on their face.  They didn't move or express emotion, they didn't interact with their environment, they didn't... well, do anything of the things that one would normally incorporate into a romanctic scene.

The the game preview with Hawke and Isabela ("Wait, you're not thinking of bringing feelings into this, are you?") where they're actually sitting down, and talking and interacting with each other like a couple (or heck, even friends) instills nothing but confidence in me that the system is improved.  Everyone feels more... fleshed out and alive in DA2, and I haven't even played the game yet.

BUT... this is most likely a 'different strokes for different folks' thing. ;)

Ignore the goat. He hasn't been disproved, but Anders returning a male Hawke's interest has been confirmed and unless they're all bi (which they're NOT) it's unlikely that Fenris will be a bi option too.

So, your male Hawke can flirt with him but Fenris will most likely crush his heart and then lol in his face.

Yesterday. Well, yesterday for me...

The Editor of the magazine that showed Fenris and Hawke flirting said that while you could flirt with Fenris they weren't sure if he returned the interest. He also then went on to say that they knew for a fact that Anders returned m!Hawke's interest when flirting. BUT they said the only s/s romance that they persued fully was Isabela's.

So everything's still up in the air. And the hopefuls are still foolishly hopeful.

and i didn't have a problem with my conversations. (except with Sten. I can never get his approval without a guide. xD)

They showed a little of the inventory during a live playthrough demo of DA2 a few days ago. (just watch the recording of it.) It made me frown. (really? people can't figure out the best equipment withou pretty stars?) Still, no matter if your nice, a dick, or neutral...the story will always start the same. It will always lead to the same place...Kirkwall. It will lead to the same party companions and the same major quests. And there will be a good choice, a bad choice, and possibly maybe a neutral choice here and there.

I'm scared of character customization. It's similarity to ME brings back horrid nightmares of trying to customize my mc and failing epicly. I'd love to keep mHawke's default face and change eye color and type of beard. that's all. But if its anything like ME...the moment you go to customize it, you'll only be able to customize other presets and never the default one. (*curses ME for that*) The romances (though they're all BI) if they are just Anders and Isabela for bis, are rehashes with slight revamps. A sex-loving womanizer who will probably express more interest in woman. (twisted around - instead of making a new character, we're going to bring back an old character that had little relevance and claim that he is now bi, and make him a human mage. no way he's the same as the previous elf rogue. ) A rogue girl with a good heart that will sleep with either gender. (twisted around- now she's a pirate, no more chantry!) Which means I won't be romancing anyone..but once again chasing after a dream.

And joy, they're bringing back the deep roads. Since we all know how much we LOVED the deep road quests of DAO. (broodmother not included in that sarcasm)

Furthermore, it looks like, just like with ME, though your choices say one thing, the character says a completely different sentence upon you choosing. Thus...I'm sure the mc is going to say something I didn't want him to say sooner or later. <_< worries, worries...and I might not have Fenris to comfort my poor kick-ass unfortunately human mage.

No no you weren't.

And god that woobie way Anders reacted to Lady Hawke's flirting <3. I want him so badly now. I love angsty tormented guys.

Though really I hope he doesn't revert to his usual irritating jesterish self. I've had enough funny as shielding guys for a while. It's nice for something else once in a while.

Not that I want him to be all doom and gloom all the time either. A nice healthy medium would be appeciated. ^_^
