Gold? What are you guys talking about?
I'm assuming Fenris' gold refers to that shiny new location in the DA2 map.

His...home base you mean?
How does that disprove or prove him being an LI? *is confused*

I think I was talking about him getting rich and Blue was just responding to it.

I had the same issues with Origins... I played female elf mages who romanced Leliana and did all the same things. They were all Arcane Warriors, and I always used Leliana, Wynne, and Morrigan where ever I went. It wasn't until my most recent (and "canon") playthrough that I branched out at all, and that was only to play the.... (continued)MorningBird wrote...

I never had that problem. My first playthrough was an elf mage who was kind and softspoken and always did what was right.
My second playthrough was an elf dalish archer who was impish and funloving, curious about the outside world and would stubbornly stand for what he believed in.
Then I played a city elf thief who had a problem bowing to authority and humans, and was extremely curious about the Dalish with dreams of running away to join them.
Then I did a human noble...didn't last long cause I dislike how...bulky...the human build is. (I like lean, athletic bodies vs the overly muscled...probably why i like the elves over the humans. xD)
And now, replaying a mage on my pc, I'm inspired to start a playthrough as a dwarf noble who's proud, stern, and at times harsh.
With DA2, I don't see any of this. All I see is a human, either gender and any of three classes, with the same background story. I'll probably make the same decisions. I can only alter his voice through emotions now. (which only worked so much in ME) And then the system changes. The dumbed down inventory (really? You have to put star markings on things so people can figure out the best equipment now?). The implimentation of a lot of ME's features into DA...I'm growing worried after watching that playthrough video.

Ignore the goat. He hasn't been disproved, but Anders returning a male Hawke's interest has been confirmed and unless they're all bi (which they are) it's unlikely that Fenris will be a bi option too.
So, your male Hawke can flirt with him but Fenris will most likely crush his heart and then lol in his face.

Yesterday. Well, yesterday for me...
The Editor of the magazine that showed Fenris and Hawke flirting said that while you could flirt with Fenris they weren't sure if he returned the interest. He also then went on to say that they knew for a fact that Anders returned m!Hawke's interest when flirting. BUT they said the only s/s romance that they persued fully was Isabela's.
So everything's still up in the air. And the hopefuls are still foolishly hopeful.

Personally, I don't like to play stark characters who are either 'all good' or 'all bad'. I Like to play characters that react differently depending on their situation, company, and general temperment, which was REALLY hard for me to do in Origins. It was difficult for me to play different characters when I couldn't select the tone of my Warden's voice. Example: the last time I tried to be sarcastic in DA:O, I accidently flirted with Morrigan and began a romance. =/
I've done three run-throughs as a city elf, and that was ONLY because when my first city elf play-through was completed, I rolled a mage... and played them EXACTLY the same way I played my city elf. Not being able to accurately pick up on the tone of the dialogue had a lot to do with that.
In DA2, however, the story depends upon the PC being a human refugee from Lothering, so as much as I liked the origin stories of DAO, I won't miss them in DA2. You're playing as a human who had to take charge of their family when their father passed away, but whether or not they took to the task, resented it, or was completely indifferent is still open to player interpretation. They can hate their family. They can love their family. They can hate and then love their family, etc... there's still plenty of thought the player can put into each Hawke they decide to role. Plus, Hawke can still be fully customized (I WANT TO CUSTOMIZE A HAWKE SO BAD.)
But more on-topic (and back to the conversation wheel) I really felt disconnected from the romance scenes in DAO (and I'm not talking about the 'sexy time' scenes, but the relationship building scenes.) They felt very... unemotional, because the Warden would just stand around with the same wide-eyed vacant expression on their face. They didn't move or express emotion, they didn't interact with their environment, they didn't... well, do anything of the things that one would normally incorporate into a romanctic scene.
