I just watched the entire segment with Anders. It's glaringly obvious that he's waiting to get some male Hawke affection because he's just asking for it with his overwhelming vulnerability.

I hope Garrett has a different flirt line though. The one Marian used was awkward as hell.

That's it. I'm making a chronic backstabbing character to! It'll be female, to. Blood Mage. Totally evil and loves to just use people. Goes to the chantry regularly on Sundays, though. <_<

Yup. 

I <3 chronic backstabbing disorder. 

Fenris will give the PC money (not decided on male or female) and Anders will give some freedom (hopefully) from the wrath of the templars.

I could barely resist in "Awakening," even though I was bedding the King of Fereldan at that point.  I flirted with him (as much as one can) whenever the opportunity arose.  I've been racking my brain over Anders or Fenris for literally minutes upon minutes (although, probably more).  If Anders can be romanced by a gentleman, it will determine whether I play as a man or a woman Hawke on my first playthrough.  The reason I started a lady in "DA:O" was to lick a lampost with Alistair.  Wait...

They showed a little of the inventory during a live playthrough demo of DA2 a few days ago. (just watch the recording of it.) It made me frown. (really? people can't figure out the best equipment withou pretty stars?)

Seeing and experiancing first hand are different to me though. xD

The two games have the same story constraints, all to ensure that the player eventually moves from Point A to Point B.

I don't know, from what I saw of the character customization it wasn't at all different from origins.  You get presets that you can tweak and tailor to your preference, though I'm pretty sure the default head is locked and can't be changed.  At least, I thought that was said somwhere, so you may be out of luck there (I could be wrong though.)

Well, I gotta disagree with you here.  I really don't think any of the characters are 'rehashed'.  There are definitely similarities, but you can find similarities between any two characters if you look hard enough.  Saying Anders and Zevran are the same because they love woman makes about as much sense to me as the people who say Zevran and Fenris are carbon copies of each other because they're both elves.  You're zeroing in on some of the traits they share whilst ignoring all of the ones that make them different.

But I'm not really going to get into that here.  I just think you're selling the characters a little short.

This has never really bothered me.  When I read the dialogue choices, I tend to read them in the character's voice, so hearing the same lines repeated creates a bit of a weird disconnect for me.

I heard a bit. Just enough underneath that loud gum popping and their obnoxious and screechy voices.

And I"m wearing goddamn headphones. *shudders* But Anders sounded like such an adorable Woobie at FemHawke's flirtation. I hope DudeHawke can flirt with him in a similar way.

Hehe, I think woobie Anders just pulled the rug out from under Fenris' bare feet.

Though now the true waiting game begins (aka whose romance is gonna have the most heartbreaking and mouse/controller-through-the-screen-inducing conclusion).

I just feel that outside of cameo appearances and boons, the origins weren't that important. xD  They certainly set the groundwork for character development... but so does Hawke's origin story.

Hawke's development point: YOU'RE FLEEING FOR YOUR LIFE!

I think in the context of the story of DA2, we're not losing anything.  The city elf's origin influences the plot, but so does Hawke's.

Also, you could look at it this way: less time and money spent on creating 6 different origins means more resources to be spent elsewhere! ;D  It's like a trade off, losing an element of DAO that wasn't necessary for DA2 in exchange for improvements in another area of the game.

but so far I've seen mostly loss and less gain in what i've seen. i still suspect ME team hijacked the DA team and assumed their identities... <_< bleh...i'm tired of arguing. i have my thoughts, and I'll see how it goes once the game is out. But so far looking at Anders as the m/m LI...I feel a severe loss of enthusiasm.

I hope to get a lot out of DA2, but I'm...dare I say it?...Pessimistic of that happening from what I've seen.

nah, i've just got a headache trying to figure all these things out with the doubt starting to creep in. wahh!!! I refuse to be pessimistic! *waves all bi flag with desperate determination* (can't help it...its Fable's fault. the constant joy and yet overwhelming disappointment brought on by those games haunt me in other games. xD they'd promise one thing, then epicly fail to deliver it or do so in a poor way...and yet still we play in hopes of it getting better...)

Yeeaah. His woobie face is cute 'an all, but ultimately does nothing for me.

I will admit that I like where they're taking his character and I love his new VA. I'll enjoy romancing him as a Templar.

Though Fenris will always be my first choice.
