I thought only certain characters can be romanced in a certain direction. I'm sure when they talked about rivlary/friendship with romance, they said some can only be romanced in a certain way.

I read forward from there for a page, then got scared and closed the tab. Considering the comment, there may be more information about what the exact flags are further back in the thread, rather than forward ... but still.

Perhaps someone could post in that thread and ask for someone in the know to let us know what they know, about what they know, if they know anything. *feels dizzy*

We need information on what the exact flags are, what they mean, and who they relate to and in what circumstances, I guess.

I don't think it means much. As I recall, you could access Alistair's romance plot flags as a male Warden.

I didn't get that at all. As I understood it, romances would merely be different depending on whether you were rivalry/friendship with them. Like Isabela throwing you against a wall, or being all sweet and stuff. I certainly heard various forumites saying they thought it might be the case, and watched that get confirmed as forum!fact, but actual fact and forum!fact are 2 distinct things (as well we know ).

It's speculation at this point. Some people say the romances are available for both paths and other people say there's a certain character who can only be romanced if you're a rival. There's nothing concrete at the moment to suggest either group is right.

I hope it's just a 'forum fact' and not true fact. I had come to understand it as one (or some) characters has to be rivalmanced to be romanced, but I don't know where I got that understanding from - from a forumite or from some more legit source...

I really, really, reeeally hope there isn't just one character that can only be romanced as a rival, because that cuts down on options for the people who like that character the best. And that would be a real shame.

(Unless it's Seb ... then that would be cool. But only if mHawke can do it too.)

sit down, friend, and have a sip of water. Those burns look bad. Now, even though I'm a mage, instead of healing you with my magic which would make perfect sense, instead I'm just going to use these bandages and patch you up best I can.

(seriously, they better not pull those moments in DA2. xD a mage should be able to heal, not resort to Alistair patching the wounded scout up!)

Noo... I want to experience romance with Seb as both a friend and a rival, if I can romance him only one way that means less replayability for me, then again I still maintain my position that Seb is too pretty not to be romance able but also that he can unfortunately only be romanced by FemHawke.
I just hope his romance dialogue is very  much non gender specific, so that when a kind soul creates the equal love mod for DA2 he won't constantly refer to femHawke's rack.

Somehow I can't imagine Seb talking about anyone's rack... I don't think he is a rack person. And if he is, I think he keeps it to himself.

It just hit me what a humungous mass of work it must have been for the writers writing TWO paths for romance for every romancable character, PLUS making them all bi as well (-- that's like four types of romance for every romancable character!). If that is the case...
