If some reviews are to be believed, the focus of the story in DA2 lies more on the interactions of the PC than "epic battles".
This makes it just logical to have more LI options and constellations than before. Additional LIs wouldn't be additional unessential contentor a waste of recourcess, but a crucial part of the game. Therefore all are bi.

I dunno what it is about them that's got me so eager to do some, given that I myself am completely straight, but I think it's just the general good-will I've seen from everyone regarding this issue, and how positive everyone's being.

Doesn't matter if you're straight or not ... I think we can all appreciate a little hot lovin' no matter who's doing the lovin'. Sexual confidence and fluffy romance are universally awesome.

Indeed. Given the work they put into the romances, it makes sense to get more out of it by opening them up.

I imagine there may be a few altered lines here and there, but given that in ME1, ME2 & DAO it was possible to hack the romances and still have them work properly (for the most part), I imagine the work required for BioWare to professionally open them up isn't that much.

Just trying to decide what characters I should do first. If it turns out there is only one m/m option, I'll do them and Default MaleHawke. If it's both Anders and Fenris......may have to put it down to a vote......or actually.....

So, I don't know how much control we'll have over the order of picking up companions (Varric will be first, I'm sure ... then I guess we'll get a choice of picking up Isabela, Fenris or Anders ... I'm not sure whether we'll be tied into picking up Merrill at a particular point, but I assumed we could more or less go to Sundermount to deliver Flemeth's amulet at a point of our choosing (as long as it's within a certain 'act' I guess).

But have you guys thought about who you want to pick up first, and why? And will it change depending on your Hawke?

I want to pick up Anders as soon as possible, then maybe Isabela, then Fenris, then Merrill. I could see switching up the order of Isabela and Fenris. I'll be playing a rogue first time (I think - I just prefer rogues), so I'll want Anders and Fen more than Isabela.

I will admit, my Hawke's attraction toward Anders and Fenris may have some bearing on wanting to pick them up first.

Actually, I think you can't decide the order in which you pick the companions. Not 100% sure though.

@silver-crescent - has this been confirmed or is it assumption (aka forum!fact)?

It makes sense picking up Varric would be compulsary, and perhaps Merrill as well, but the other three seem more flexible. This is supposition though, of course. Apart from Varric, I honestly don't see why they couldn't be picked up in any order as long as it's done within a certain time frame of the game (like before the first skip or before a particular mission). If you can't progress the story without one or more of them, that doesn't necessarily mean you'll have to pick them up first, just that you'll not be able to progress until you have. So if Anders and his map are important before progressing, you might still be able to pick up Isabela or Fenris first, but just not have access yet to moving on the story to the parts that require Anders.

I hope that's the case anyway, because I like flexibility and reach choice in those sorts of things. It adds to replayability, for one.

I will try not to refrain from metagaming as much as possible and do all the quests in the order I find them, but as soon as I stumble over something that I think will lead me to Fenris, Sebastian (what, I'm not giving up the hope ) or Anders, I will persue the lead. Preferably in that order.
I wasn't that interested in Merril, but Eve Myles :wub:...
But I will put off  the Flemmeth mission for as long as possible, so I have an excuse to leave kirkwall. Should I get a bit tired of the city, it will be my joker if it gets too much like the orzammar and deep roads part.

If there is a set order I'm afraid I'm not going to pay attention to much of the plot/happenings until I can get my hands on Fenris.

And Sebastian, though I will be playing an archer myself so I doubt I'll have much use of him in my party...

Guys I just realized something... Sweet, sweet David never denied catabuca's claim that he confirmed all are bi romances and usually he's quick to confirm or deny what he doesn't confirm or deny and OMG THERE'S HOPE!

Anyway, back to the topic:

I will try and keep the metagaming to a minimum as well, but you can bet your boots I'll be keeping an eye out for anything Fenris related. I can already see me chasing down every lead and in the end being incredibly disappointed because it has nothing to do with Fenris.

Yes IF Merrill is bi, surely Anders AND Fenris must be as well (cause she is the last one I would expect to be swinging both ways for some reason). But there is still doubt in my mind about wether that picture is real though..



EDIT: I just saw you mentioned 'screens' in plural, ladyofpayne. Are there more than one?

I'd like to believe that and it does sound compelling but I just can't.

If he turns out to be Bioware's long awaited experiment with DLC romance I'll definitely try to recruit Seb as soon as possible since I want to hear his comments on the quests I'm doing. On that note I hope the companions in DA2 remark on your actions as least as often as those in Origins did.

I <3 you, too. And Fenris and Anders both <3 m!Hawke (but it's a GOLDEN <3 which stands for GOLDEN LUURVE) and it's going to be epic.

True. He might not have seen it, but David seems to have epic lurking powers. Especially after he makes mysterious posts. Plus your response was in that thread and this thread and I know he definitely lurks in this thread.

Still, like everything else, we could be reading WAY too much into this. But the odds for all of them being bi are very good at the moment.

Well, if they don't all turn out to be bi then those of us who are part of the master race can at least mod it.

Ryzaki's totally gonna punch me for saying that.

On Topic: I wonder how exactly all the recruitment missions will be handled? Will this be the start of their later missions or will the recruitment mission and their companion mission be completely different? I have a feeling Isabela's companion mission with have something to do with her recruitment mission.

On the missions, there's certainly a link between Isabela's recruitment and what I expect will be her companion mission (against Castillion), and I expect they'll all be linked (Fenris too ... as his recruitment has something to do with the Magister). I believe it'll be a case that they say 'well, if I hear any more I'll let you know if I need your help', and then later in the game they'll ask you to come over and say they've found some super-secrit info and they'd like your help.

Wait ... I've just described ME2's loyalty missions. I don't even ...

I'm cautiously optimistic. :innocent: At this point it can really go either way. There's a lot of evidence supporting that they're all bi, but there's also a good chance that BioWare will stick with the DA:O recipe. Either way, it's going to be awesome.
