lololol, yes, I thought you would appreciate that.

Merrill is really fun to draw.  >:  Cannot stop!

There's some twenty pages of really interesting discussion/speculation that happened while I was gone (I've spent the past two hours reading up). I'm sorry I missed it. :(

I'm glad we got that Sebastian snippet (since I'm a HUGE Seb fan - he's above Fenris on my WANT-list) even though it gave me very heterosexual vibes when it comes to his character. But at least it was some 'sex' in it... I think I will have to retract my comment of him not being a 'rack' man... :D

Also don't know what to think of the spoilers given in the XBOX Review thread... I had a feeling it would be that way, with those two characters backgrounds... I hope you'll at least be able to, if not get them to completely convert to your side, to at least see some of the finer points of it. I really hate characters leaving in a huff (or having to kill them unless they really, REALLY deserve it).

And @Blue_Shayde: I hadn't really thought of it until you said it. But I think you are right in that there is some serious recycling going on when it comes to characters, and that so many of the recyclees happen to be LI's is a bit 'funny' (for lack of a better word). It is a bit irksome, since I like new characters too and wasn't too fond of either Anders or Isabella in the previous game. But I like the new twist they have on the 'old' characters (Anders and Merrill in particular) so part of me is still excited to see them again, nevertheless.

No, it wasn't labelled as such, but talked about as such in this thread, so it took me some time and searching to find it. Search for "Official Xbox Magazine Review", instead and you'll find it. It contains some (even if small imo) SPOILERS though, so be warned.

I hadn't give the idea of 'recycled' characters much thought, but yes, it is interesting 3 of them have been in previous games. That said, it doesn't bother me at all. Their characters seem significantly developed from what we've seen before, so for me they are new characters (apart from Anders perhaps, but again I think there's going to be enough development that he feels new enough).

Either way, I'm excited to meet them all.

Oh! And I forgot to mention how I love the look of that new CC (thanks for talking about it in this thread or I would have missed it)! I'll probably spend the entire first day I get the game fiddling around with that making up characters (and many, many hours after).

It seems it will finally be possible to make good-looking men (I mean look at some of those smexy men in that thread!)! It wasn't fun running around with what looked like fugly trolls in DA:O, since there was so much time spent ogling your own character, so I ended up playing mostly females. Usually it is pretty 50/50 for me, but this time it might even be more males. Especially if we get two m/m romances to choose from, not to mention several ways in which to play each of them...

The replay value of this game is starting to look exceptional! :o

I've been watching all the headscratching about the character creator's greater flexibility and higher hotness ceiling for male characters with considerable amusement. It makes sense if you look at the available bits and pieces (more complexions that work for a male character in his twenties or thirties, beards and stubble add variation, we tend to pay less attention to men’s lips so the fact that they all kind of look the same around the mouth is not as major a factor), but given the tendency of female characters in Western games to look like teenaged melon-smugglers and male characters in Western games to look like someone’s taken a cheese grater to their faces, it is bizarre.

I prefer to play as male characters, and default!Hawke doesn't appeal to me (it's the beard). So I am very happy the cc is so much better this time. It was nearly impossible to make a good looking mShep in Mass Effect (good job I love Sheploo so much), but easy for femShep. This time I reckon I'll be sticking to default!fHawke but custom!mHawke, I'll have so much fun shaping him to my desires.

Yep, me too. I'm so happy with how default f!Hawke looks I'll probably never change her (or try and end up going back to the default). But my m!Hawke will go through several (and I mean SEVERAL) incarnations.

It is the same for me. LadyHawke looks pretty much how I would want her to look, though male Hawke is going to take a lot of tweaking to get juuust right (and then I will notice I don't like his eyebrows and scrap him because thats how I am). Even worse though will be the issue that, although my Hawke may look good, what if it makes my Hawke's mother and siblings look awkward.:?

I'm also in the camp of really liking f!Hawke and not caring for m!Hawke. I will fiddle around with his appearance... and hope that my choices do not screw up how Carver looks on my m!mage playthrough.

I think default m!hawke looks dreamy:wub:, but I do appreciate that the CC is better this time. And it's not even complete right now! Still, my main question come Tuesday will be: nutella or not on Beardy McDefaultGarrett? Hard to say. He can just keep walkin' around shirtless and we'll be cool. Also, if I mess around with the CC, it's important that I keep the default siblings, because the other two sets it's possible to activate in the demo aren't that appealing.

If we don't get a leak, I  hope we get some more highly inconclusive evidence about m/m romance to freak out about soon. Come on internet. Don't fail me now.

Is the nutella optional? I thought that was caused by some scripted event sometime in the game, and then we would just have to stick with it (unless we mod it away)...

Yes, I'm waiting for that too. Seems like the day isn't quite complete without it. And I missed yesterday's so I'm ready and eager to analyze anything that comes our way to pieces. I'm hoping it has something to do with Fenris or Sebastian as possible m/m options since it seems Anders is pretty much settled as one at this point.

We could always speculate about what sort of vague, contradictory information we'll receive next. Maybe we'll get a screenshot in which m!Hawke is clearly engaged in romantic dialogue, but both Fenris and Merrill are present and it's not clear which one he's speaking to. That would be exciting!

Worry not, disciples of smexy mansex - I shall go hunting for more information to squee/sob over. After I've finished playing the demo again. Cause, y'know, 5 times isn't enough, and I haven't played it since the day after it came out.

It is in the modded demo, but it might not be in the final release.

It's entirely optional. There are two versions of the default Hawke, one with the smear, one without.

Do we know that that's not some sort of not-ready-for-public-consumption content issue? The fact that the unmodded demo has us first play as legendary Hawke with smear and then as real default Hawke without smear at the start of his or her journey suggests it's something he or she acquires during the story.

I'd be surprised if the game didn't let you turn it off, though. It's going to look weird with some tattoos.

Well, there's the fact that they've been saying (since the one trailer, in fact!) over and over and over and over again that it's completely optional and you can choose in the character creator.

edit: hm...that reads snarkier than I'd meant it to. No harm intended, sorry that it came off that way. :(

It's a shame custom Hawke can't have his nutella smear too. I'd love that option. (I'm just going to have to suck it up and buy the mac version as well for the mods, I know it. *sigh*)

Just did the demo with first s&b warrior. I think I preferred it to 2h-warrior. Still, rogue all the way for me. Apart from the odd Mage game.

After taking a look into the "show off your custom hawke" thread, i think it will take me forever to make my mhawke when the game launches. I have to consider what goes best with the elf.
