I think that was more of a proposal for a commited relationship than for marriage... that's how  I got it at least.

It is a purely pragmatical act, concerning estates and specifically offspring, and has no particular connection to love. It is just not something that even exists as a term for partnership between same-gender couples, in Thedas.

that info from the wiki doesn't address same sex marriges... it only says that opposite sex marriages are incouraged.  THat would mean same sex marriage is just less common and a very small percentage...

Zevran proposed to my m!warden... was no problem there

Like I said, there was an official response, from monsieur Gaider if I recall. And from Zevran, it was an offer of commitement, not one of marriage per se.

Did you check the previous posts at all? It is here and I am trying to find the old discussion that got an official response saying this. Although with my absent-mindedness, I might be wrong, but I am more or less still certain.

If you can find us a developer quote that says "there is no gay marriage in Thedas" then I'm sure everyone would quiet down. As it is, I think the developers have specifically avoided saying this, which seems prudent.

The section on homosexuality says:

"There is pressure to marry an opposite-gendered partner in certain circles, such as the nobility and the City Elves"

which implies that it's possible to marry a same-gendered partner.

If that's what it meant, it would be worded differently. If they specify "marry an opposite-gendered partner," the tacit acknowledgment is that they could alternately marry a same-gendered partner. Otherwise, "marry" wouldn't be important enough to say, because you can have children without being married. Legitimacy is an issue for nobles, but not for elves.

No. Not to get political on the subject, but regardless of my support for the idea of gay marriage in our society I think it would feel pretty anachronistic to include such a concept in our setting. I doubt it's something that would even occur to people in Thedas, regardless of their orientation.

That said, I think it's not something that universally, 100%, under no circumstances ever happened. In the same post, Mr. Gaider points out how Dalish and Dwarven traditions are very different from the Andrastean view on marriage, without going into specifics.
