In regards to the likelihood of all four LIs being bisexual, I admit this is not realistic. On the other hand, nor is it realistic that Hawke can (assumedly) only form a relationship with four (five if you download DLC ) people in an entire city. Were we not limited by game mechanics and Bioware had an infinite budget and created tons and tons of fleshed out characters that could be romanced, it could certainly be argued that it makes sense to apply real world demographics to them in regards to gender, ethnicity (at least the Thedas equivalent) and sexual orientation. As it is, I'm fine with a bit of hand-waving to justify that all of the four, attractive people Hawke can have a relationship with are bi and people that play gay characters have just as much choice as those that play straight characters. And hey, if it makes you feel better, imagine that literally everyone else in Kirkwall is straight - and lo, these four happen to make up that n% of gay/bi people found in the real world. And they're potential love interests? What a fortuitous happenstance!

Bear in mind that out of 7 (one being your sibling and making it 8 if you download the DLC, who is also a romance option) only 4 are available for romance, and while yes, they fact that they just-so happen to be bisexual can be considered somewhat unbelievable, thats still quite the odds, especially if you think of everyone else as straight, which they will likely be. I believe, however, that it is a great and wonderful coincidence ~

I'm babbling here a bit, but my point is, without DLC, out of possibly 7 companions, only 4 are romancable, leaving 3 straight characters on your team. Sure, you cant romance them, but if the fact that there are bi LI's avalable offends some people, again, 3 straight characters to have your team. Not romancable, but straight nonetheless. Besides, you can romance them regardless, if you want Merrill straight for example, romance her as a M!Hawke and then its likely she'll be straight in your stories cannon, if what I believe interviews have stated to be true.

So...er...EVERYONE'S HAPPY?

I am a human being. My only "agenda" is to live my life with as much happiness and joy as I can and with as little unhappiness and pain as possible without hurting anyone else in the process.

I am treated as a second class citizen in the united states.

I am not protected by the law in the same way you are.

I am not given the same freedoms as you are.

I am not allowed to enjoy my life as much as you are.

When I ask to be given the same opportunities as others I am told I am asking for "special rights" or I have some sort of "agenda"

So you think about all that when you go get married and you aren't denied a marriage liscence.

You think about all that the next time you kiss whoever you're in a relationship with in public and don't have to worry that someone might try to hurt because of it

You think about that and imagine living in a world where every book, every magazine, every tv show, every movie was telling you that you should be homosexual. You know you're not. You know you can't "make" yourself be homosexual.

So after thinking about all that I'd like to believe that ANY decent human being with any kind of compassion for their fellow humans in this world wouldn't begrudge us "different" folk some inclusion into the mainstream. it's taken us DECADES... hell CENTURIES even... to get to this point. I won't even see full equality in my lifetime so you'll forgive me if I think your problems with the love interests being bi is very petty and selfish and talking about anyone having an agenda, if Mr. Gaider has an agenda at all it's make sure as many people as possible are included in the enjoyment of Dragon Age 2. If you want to talk agenda you go talk to the religious right... the people who claim to be all holy and good who spend millions of dollars and hours of manpower working hard to make sure I go as many days as possible feeling less than human, being treated less than other citizens of the united states. THAT'S an agenda.

WHY is 4 bisexual people in your immediate circle unlikely though? I know nine bisexual people (those who I am close enough with to have the orientation conversation, so it might be actually more), that is not counting people from my city's LGBT activists and homosexual people of either gender (know a lot of those too). And I'm not the hero of anything, I don't go around chatting people up on the street to help them and I don't recruit them to my cause. Moreover, I'm pretty shy in real life, I don't have that many close acquaintances, I never ask people directly about their sexual orientation...

It's not that rare, people. Open your eyes.

Also, regarding the gay-only LIs... It is probably any gay person's big dream to have a gay-only romance, but Gaider said multiple times that it's not efficient from the resources standpoint. I believe him, and I think calling Bioware cheap for going above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to including gay people in their games is... well, ungrateful. They deserve mad props for what they did, mad props, and I seriously consider it to be one of the biggest steps to break from heteronormativity in the current media. It is amazing. I have no words for how amazing it is (I hope I will find them because I will probably write them a long-winded letter of thanks on this account). Given the cost of game development nowdays I think at this point all-bi is the best gay people are going to get in the mainstream media, and Bioware being the first developer to do their best in this direction is seriously awesome.

But holy crap! I just have express my joy over BioWare spreading the gay love! I'm smiling all over right now! :D:D

I don't know maybe I'm weird. While I can get immersed in a game at the end of the day I know all the characters are merely actors for the PCs enjoyment.

If a game isn't an enjoyment to play (regardless of ripping my heart out like Gaider likes to do) then to me it's failed in its designated purpose.

So Saibh I think a lot of our differences comes from how we approach BW games. I have the feeling you feel like you're being placed in a story while I have the feeling I'm directing it (sorry if I'm completely off base).

So, plenty of us saw both Fenris and Anders romanced in the livestream. Did it change your mind about who you want to romance? I saw a lot people switching hardcore to Team Anders.

There will always be haters. The only thing to do is to ignore them (that's what I do, actually )
Nothing will EVER change me from romancing Fenris. That's what i wanted from the start, it stays that way forever.<3<3 <3:wub: :wub:

Well there's Juhani in Kotor The romance isn't full-fledged though and it's incredibly buggy, but she does finally admit her feelings for female Revan in the end (you can romance her as male in the console version, but only because it's bugged, in the pc version she is female only).

I always wanted to romance Anders but was worried Fenris would be the only option... this made me resent Fenris a great deal and I probably wouldn't have romanced him at all and just waited for a mod to romance Anders... but now that all the LI's are accessible I resent Fenris less. I still plan to romance Anders first and foremost but now I may give Fenris a chance in a later playthrough.

Unfortunately, since no one thought to fly to the UK and wake me up to tell me the livestream was happening *glares* *forgives* *cuddles* I only saw the ass-end of the Fenris bit. I feel like I know a bit more about him now though, what he will be like, and I'm even more excited to get to know him. That said, I've been on Team Anders for some time, so I'm sticking that way for my first play through (and if I screw that run up, then for my 2nd as well).

I'm just giddy with happy right now. I literally jumped up and down on the spot while I told someone earlier. He just kind of looked at me in a bemused way. That happens sometimes. I'm, er, excitable.
