Ahhh so cute
I never thought about that with Merill - she's a Dalish elf and one who is very aware of how much her people have lost. I bet it takes a lot of courage for her to fall in love with a human, because on some level it must feel almost like a betrayal of her people and maybe even her own principals. Oh the angst!

So now that I am certain I want to romance both Anders and Fenris, what I'm thinking is this; for my M!Hawke mage, I will go for Fenris, and for my M!Hawke warrior, I will go for Anders *Que reasoning!*
Although for Anders it would make more sense for my mage Hawke to go for him, and for my Warrior Hawke to go for Fenris, I am a firm believer that not everything should be labeled black and white. Case in point: When Hawke meets an old friend of his father who is a mage. When he describes to Hawke that his father was actually really close friends with a templar, I was overjoyed, for it meant that his father also believed in the possible idea that not everything can be defined as "This is evil, that is good". That is the ideal I want for my Hawke; that it is not the title that makes the man, but the person underneath it that defines who they are. Both Anders and Fenris seem to be the portrayal of a certain ideal; Anders believes that Templars are evil, while Fenris believes that all mages are evil (To a certain extent of course). I want my Hawke to be the one who changes that, to be the person that shows them that not everything is as it seems. There are two sides to every coin, and I will be the one to show them that (Fenris's ideals on one side, my mage who contradicts those ideals on the other and vise versa for Anders). Not only will this make my playthoughs more fufilling, but I think it will also help me understand why each individual thinks like they do, and thus fulfill my playthoughs even more. Plus, it would be kinda boring to be in a relationship where the other agrees on EVERYTHING you say. To truly love someone is to fully accept them; flaws and all.
I can think of no other quote to describe my stance more than that said by Assassins Creed:
"Nothing is true, everything is permitted"

I would like to hope that you are a minority as well.
Seriously, dude, you and the other guys with krogan avs should probably try to lighten up a little (Geez, Lizard, stop assuming it's going to be cheap when in fact romances are expensive, which is why you will NEVER see 2 Gay LIs no matter how you clamor for it; devs have already addressed this and you won't get it anymore than you'll get Christian Bale to retroactively voice Alistair.) For all you know, it's like this:
Isabela--Will sleep with anything that moves, actively lusts after both genders and she likes a change, but is resistant to romance.
Merrill--A bit timid, but very interested to explore her sexuality, which she hasn't really done before, certainly not with a human. Is maybe more "human-osexual" than anything else.
Anders--Leans a bit more towards men, but is more vocal about liking women because he's already ostracized for being a mage.
Fenris--Is so resistant and cautious about relationships in general that his sexuality is generally irrelevant; what he wants more than anything is to be treated kindly and to feel something positive after all the negative stuff he's been through. Sees the person, not the naughty bits.
Just because they're all available doesn't mean they don't have preferences. And if the player decides whether the specific characters (Hawke and this LI or that LI) feel attraction by either using or not using the flirt icons... what's wrong with that?
I feel you about the Oghren thing, Mash. So very, very much.
Also, as umwhatyousay said: "all bi-lis really isn't that much more
implausible than having an equal number of young, attractive
heterosexual party members AND all classes represented by interesting
people with somewhat equally developed character arcs. Deal with it!"
I'm not sure if it's even unrealistic. I agree on the coincidentalness, but not only is this a whole other planet, with the potential for different genetic makeups and so forth, it's also a completely different society. So many fine little differences compose a society. We simply don't know how many people would be bisexual if they'd grown up in a society where there was no niggling voice in the back of their mind saying, "being gay is wrong," or "people will look down on me and think I'm weird if I'm gay," or "my parents will hate me if I'm gay..." we don't know exactly how these societal pressures affect human development.Chris Readman wrote...
Sure it isn't realistic that four of the people in the party are bisexual, it is a pretty big coincidence. It annoys me slightly as well. But then again, it is offset by the sheer amount of options Bioware has given us.
In other words, in this context, there's no actual reason to assume this is all that coincidental. We have only the DAO LIs to compare it to, and half of them were bi!
Damn straight.Blue_Shayde wrote...
And the DA team works hard to make
every aspect of the game great. They don't hide behind lame reasoning
like 'Well, the Asari aren't technically female'. BS!!
I had a mage Warden (Gwendolyn) who would've been a kindred spirit to your Hawke. She lost her chance with Cullen, tried to connect with Alistair but felt that the kingdom was better off if Anora and he were together and thus pushed them away, and with Zevran... well, she tried to form a bond with him, but couldn't manage it. She didn't trust Morrigan, an apostate, so she ended up making the US. A very poignant playthrough. I can't wait to see how it imports, come to think of it.Tellervo wrote...
That one's
probably destined for the worst ending possible, since no one is going
to have a compelling reason to stay with him despite his being a
pleasant enough fellow. Not a very memorable champion, someone Varric did have to exaggerate about to make interesting.
I swear, I do have some happy-ish playthroughs stored away somwhere.

Because it's a discussion thread, not a fan thread. Fan threads are for fan work. Here is for discussion. People will love your work in the Anders or Fenris thread too.
