I don't understand either, but I'm a lover, not a fighter. *checks watch* If you wait like, four hours though, the thread will probably have reverted back to the occasional posting of fanart. And then another several hours after that, Saibh will come back and scold the thread. I'd like to think of it as the circle of life.

So, did anybody catch any of the good flirt lines? Not all of us were watching the livestream and would like to hear some of the undoubtedly lulzy innunedo and awkward affection. It'd be awesome if you could put the lines in the dark grey color (top righthand color in the pallette) in case anyone doesn't want to see them.

I'm actually not big on fanart - I wanted to do a one, however, because someone farther back requested more andersxhawke fanarts. But I'll join to look at the pretty fanarts myself. Thanks.

...yeah.  Not so much.  Your reception at Ostagar when meeting the other Wardens/Warden-hopefuls and the conversation with Sten, when you're playing a woman, comes to mind.  The City Elf origin, and what threat your character faces therein.  Exactly what sort of emotional impact learning about the Broodmothers has for someone who's fairly immersed in their character.  Most of it, with Sten as the exception, isn't overt, but there are definite differences playing male and female characters, much of them in ways that there are definite differences being male or female.  It's not just about which romances are available to you; it's a part of the characterization, and ultimately has the potential to shape your experience of the game just as much as whether your PC is interested in men, women, both, or neither.   And that's not even getting into how very much more important the different backgrounds you create are.

As an example, say you're playing a female Cousland as contrasted with a male one in DAO and everyone there was bi; if having little Cousland heirs is something your character is concerned about when they believe Fergus to be dead, a female might avoid a relationship with Zevran since an illegitimate elf child solves nothing, or break things off with Alistair when the whole two Wardens procreating problem comes to light.  A male?  They certainly can't risk impregnating the Orlesian bard when their loyalty is already being called into question, since that suggests a deeper connection than just sleeping with them.  But, say, Zevran would be no problem at all, and indeed most likely be simply following the fine Fereldan tradition of sleeping with one's elven employees.

Point being, you're the one building this character and giving most of the depth to their interactions with companions and the romances.  It's mostly in your mind anyway; the developers and how they've written the NPCs help with the direction and broad shape of things, certainly, but ultimately, you get out what you put in.  If you've created a shallow, ill-defined character, the best written romance in the world won't make up for that, and if you're truly immersed in the game, the fact that you have more options available to you is only going to be beneficial for helping you fully realise what you want with your PC.

Also, apparently somebody thought my "99 Problems" sig was saying that I have a problem with straight people. Is it coming off like that? I mean, here I thought I was making a really ironic reference to "99 Problems" by Jay-Z (especially given the amount of homophobic content in rap), but I want to make sure I'm not accidentally offending people left and right.

Do we know if Krace is going to continue the livestream tonight, also?

No, I don't feel it came off as that. I understood the Jay-Z reference and found it appropriate. Being a champion, he's got a lot of problems! And gay love isn't a problem for him. What WILL be a problem is picking between Fenris, Anders, and Varric (I choose to live in a reality that Varric is a possibility).
