I must ask, does Isabela ever make a comment on the relationship between Hawke and Fenris? I've had everyone commenting but Isabela and Aveline.

Both their commenting happens in cutscenes. I believe Aveline comments during the questline for Ser Donnic, and Isabela is HILARIOUS. Refer to the following youtube vid.

Sadly, I could only find the straight one D: Can't find a vid of the Aveline comment though. I know she does reference it somehow, somewhere.

EDIT: I'm in the same boat with you when it comes to NUUUUUU must experience anders romance but dear god Fenris. I'm pushing through it with a snarky character. It's just so hard....

I completely forgot about the Isabela scene. *headdesk*

I'm trying so hard not to flirt with Fenris in my Anders run, but it's so hard. *whines* Before I could stop myself I clicked the little heart option and then Fenris giggled at me. Again. And my Hawke's heart melted. Again.

I was just thinking and this contains mild SPOILERS, but the final kissing scene happened right next to Carver. I wonder what he thought when he saw the two of them groping each other in front of everyone.

HAHA. Good point! I thought that was one of the most heartmelting things about the scene though... the usually reserved and private Fenris throws himself at Hawke for one of the hottest makeout sessions to occur in the Dragon Age all up in front of their companions and family. Awesome.

Yeah, I try to stop myself from flirting with him. It's just a little comment here or there, I tell myself. My silver tongued Hawke flirts with everyone. It's not like he has any special feelings... for Fenris... *tears up* maybe... in another lifetime.

Hawke's just being really nice... You know, making the escaped slave feel wanted and loved liked. It means everything nothing.

And curse you Gideon Emery for having such an awesome voice and for being so good at conveying his different emotions. Gah. I'm doomed.

Yeah, seriously BioWare. Take responsibility for me swearing off people -- I'm going to marry intellectual property. Okay so maybe I swore off people long before I met you BioWare, BUT STILL. You taught me how to love again ;_;

Ish, I think there's room to discuss the f/f romances in here. Did anyone rivalmance Merrill? I just about died when she came to my house for the romance cutscene and said "Don't try to save me, Hawke. You can't." "I won't give up." "Don't save me..." in that omg-please-save-me voice, culminating in passionate kiss. I may have squeed, privately, in my counting house, where I was supposed to be doing Kingly things.

Also Isabela's convo is better for Anders than Fenris. I won't spoil it for you. I lol'ed so hard.

I tried the Anders romance, but did anybody else notice the discrepancy between male and female version romancing him? Later, when Anders is all I TOLD YOU I WOULD BREAK YOU HEART, I was thinking... "uh, no, actually what you told me is that I had your undying love." Turns out, he only says that to a femHawke. When she hits on him, he says something like "No, don't go there, I'll only break your heart" versus the much sweeter romantic dialogue he has with M!Hawke. So, I was a bit blindsided by his switch from, what seemed to me to be ultimate committed love to tormented I'll hurt you but some things matter more than love persona. I kind of wish he had said the same thing to a man, just so we'd have the heads up D:

Yeah, the Garrett/Anders romance was tastefully well done. It felt like Anders was more receptive and tender with Garrett when you choose the first flirt line. Instead of "I'm going to break your heart", he smiles and says that most men aren't so "open", but that Garrett is a rare man. With him, he displayed vestiges of his personality from Awakening and knowing that was good enough.

@lilliful: rofl your signature is fabulous.

I thought the discrepancies between the two Anders romances were really interesting, and knowing that he's extra adorable for the m!Hawke version made me glad I went that way, haha.

I know want kind of M/M romance I dont want:

Zevran style

I want a character more Anders or Sebastian. The kiss scene with Anders just left me as "gay" male gamer totally breathless...I know from first hand experience that this CAN happen to you in exactly that way in real life...the script here comes definetly from someone who REALLY knows how love can develop in the real world as well. I would also like to see more Alistair types.

To sum up:

- A real Man, a hero with flaws, a hard shell on the outside with a heart of gold that is so well hidden you first have to really play deep into the romancing part. A rebel that can be criminal or a valiant knight. Some romance in which you first fight with the character and then slowly approach each other because they feel, they're not that different in some aspects after all.

- Show some flesh please and make it optional to watch. We are not all born in the Chantry and some of us are old enough to handle the heat of emotions. So don't hold back on these scenes. This doesnt have to be pornographic but clearly more erotic.

I disagree with homosexuality and would rather not see it present at all but if Bioware is dead set on catering to homosexuals then just stick to your mandatory 1 homosexual romance option per gender. Despite the whining from some that there needed to be more homosexul options to make things "fair" and "equal" despite it's limited appeal that's the best sollution. Origins was perfect in this regard and you also included homosexual side options including Isabella and prostitutes. I also thing Bioware should provide the option to set the option to establish your sexual prefference during character creation with the option to deactivate romance options that you're not comfortable with. This way you don't have to awkwardly turn durn down characters who make homosexual advances.  Making all romancable characters gay romance options is no sollution and hopefully Bioware will not make this misguided mistake again.

+1 read bioware read.

Agreed.

I agree too.

Most sense anyone has made in this thread  yet. I absolutely hated how they almost immediatly hit you with the painfully awkward  "sorry i don't swing that way" conversation which is indeed forced on the player.

I think gamedevellopers shouldnt put too much work in gay romances. Like 10% of the population is gay and unless gays play more games than heterosexuals it's not worth it to put too much resources towards 10% of the playerbase. It's a nice perk, but I think the bisexual option is the best one, it cathers to both sides and doesnt use up value time that could be used on improving other parts of the game.

And yet this is exactly what they did........

10% of the population is gay, yes, but I would bet much more than 10% of overall gamers are gay or lesbian or bi.

It was in response to the OP's question, what would you like to see? On that I commented that the bi-option is probably the best since it doesn't require a lot of extra work for a small part of the population. That energy is better reserved for improving the game. Speaking for myself I would rather have had more unique locations than 4 (gay)romances. As for your last statement, with out proof there is absolutely no reason to assume that the % of gay/bi gamers is higher than in the overall population.

So... I'm confused.
You want them to be bi but not romancable by the same sex?
Because what we got is 4 bi options. But then you say you'd rather they not be gay? I don't understand.

I lol'ed at the random troll/spammer burst we got in this thread.

@Ish, yep, that's my next playthrough. Right now I'm playing through an origins Amell game that will culminate in a mage M!Hawke that will rivalmance Fenris :3 I can't wait! Ugh, using DA:O as an elaborate background creator for DA2 is really distracting me from more DA2 playthroughs... This is the exact same thing that happened to me with ME2. I am incapable of learning!

@solution_nine, why thank you! As your self-appointed King Ferdinand, I aim to be as fabulous as possible at all times.

Loving the game so far. ^^ I'm playing my Male Rogue again because of the stupid save import bug, tons of things weren't taken into account.
But hey, more Fenris heaven then haha! :D I'm trying Friendmance this time, since it was Rivalry on my first game.

I was planning on doing a Anders romance after the first play with my mage, but what happened (and the fact that we can't do anything about it) horrified me so much, I'm hesitating a hell lot. :S I'll probably try it out anyway, but when, I've no idea...

My characters are very particular about the company they keep, so it sometimes seems like everyone's bisexual.

What he said. It's pretty much you, the four main LI's, and the prostitutes. Do you guys know if there are any m/m flirtable NPC's aside from the prostitutes? Somehow I must have missed them all, if they existed.

*tackles lilli* How are you, my love?

*regains composure*

No. I haven't seen a single flirtable NPC (apart from Zev). I was wondering about this yesterday, when I remembered we assumed there would be. Where did this come from? Was there official word or something? I thought there was. Oh well.

So you guys, how is Hawke supposed to choose between Fenders? Cian Hawke (Hawke #) was a mage who fell hard for Anders. Aden Hawke is a rogue who's likely to be even more fanatical about mage freedom than Cian was, and I was planning on having him fall for Fenris, but a few hours in and Aden's having a hard time not flirting with them both. He wants in on dat voice and dat brooding, but omg if I don't just feel so super protective of Anders. It's going to be difficult.

It doesn't help that I think Anders' story works so much better if Hawke is in love with him. But maybe that's just me.

Dammit BW, with your damned bisexual love interest CHOICE. XD

All I regret (am I the only one?) is the lack of, er.... nudity. Quite some in DAO and none in DA2, ahem.
