ON AN UNRELATED NOTE-

I CANNOT GET GAY!VARRIC OUT OF MY HEAD. You guys want a hot Rival Romance? Something with sizzle? I really think Varric could provide. Imagine it, manHawke arrives in Kirkwall and finds himself at the beck-and-call of the Merchant prince: "You're in my city, Ferelden. You do what I say."

ManHawke, of course, resents and resists... Varric and ManHawke "lock horns" so to speak... Until, at last, a mutual repsect is formed.....

"Well done, Champion...."

It would be so epic. Nothing can convince me otherwise.


EDIT: It would be like... the opposite of Zevran! Zevran enjoys the hunt, he enjoys chasing women (and men) while Varric likes it when people trail after him. He's probably used ot ordering people around. And, of course, both Ladyhawke and manHawke want nothing to do with this, eventually earning Varric's respect. Varric/ManHawke would make such a good "I don't take orders from men HALF MY SIZE" romance......

I don't see it either.  The thing with Fenris is that his backstory gives him a wide berth for bisexuality;  since he has had a relatively limited life experience,  it can be argued that his tastes have not been explored.  He also has the stoic trait and has hardly been shown at all,  in game or otherwise.   We've been shown little more than his appearance, which may or may not imply anything more than he just hates shoes.  

Many also attempt to disparage him as a LI in general stating being touched pains him.... Yet this is something misread by many,  since it's actually the fact that he finds it icky (or specifically, he has an "aversion to touch"), and not due to any sort of pain.

As for Varric,  I also get no vibes of sexuality from him either....  Perhaps if I read this thread more thoroughly, I'll get an idea of why others do.   At the moment,  I feel that his clothing style and laid-back personality don't necessarily lend him to any position other than our master-storyteller.  After all,  not all laid-back or sharply dressed people are open to sexual relations with all genders.  I get the impression he is either straight or not romanceable...which makes sense on several levels,  both practical for sales and in regards to the immense importance of the character in the main plotline.

Admitably, there was one other dwarf pairing I thought was cute enough to like (*cough*lotr de if you can figure that code out *cough*), and honestly...I would read that fanfic right there with that story, Katie. You make Varric sound like a bad boy, and bad boys are so much fun. xD Still, I'm rooting for Fenris... =P

Granted, your mileage might vary from that description alone, but I suppose a Merchant Prince/Spy Master doesn't get to be where he is without being socially flexible

As to some other comments regarding this,  I want to throw my bet on Sebastian or Fenris for M/M.   Partially because I'd be tickled half to death since their backstories are so....well, you know.  And even so,  there's no denying that the physical beauty of their renders really goes a long way on top of that,  at least for shallow me.  XD

Maybe he has a connection with the girl and a past. or maybe he's throwing out the sexy look to get a discount or turn the girl's attention away from the conversation that's being carried out at the table/bar? if he's a spy, then that would be a typical tactic when you want to distract from something you want no one to think to much about.

Collider remarked that a very sexual Varric is a fan projection. I provided a quote that may support that character trait's presence in the game itself...again YMMV.

I'm not sure what or how sexual deviancy applies to this

No problem, Neurotoxin I hope that whatever M/M LI that gamers end up with, his scenario will be a memorable one and well-written. I love romance tales of all kinds so I look forward to have my planned gay M!Hawke experience that love story

Well said Aimo. I would be fine with any m/m LI too, be it Varric/Fenris/Seb/Anders. I'm pretty much very content with what I see so far Not to mention all the guys we're getting this time round are pretty hot.

I wouldn't rule out sebastian just because he is DLC. We aren't talking about lelianas song or anything like that. I don't know anyone who didn't have Shale. I doubt the ones woulda skipped shale are the type to raise a storm if seb is the m/m.



I am hoping for him or Fenris. I think they would both make a good story for romance. Varric would just bgross and Anders out of character. I think we're still getting one more companion though so who knows.

Considering "Anders" isnt likely to be gay in DA2 (presuming it is him) given he is straight in Awakening, I am rather dissapointed.

It's a shame because I dont really like any of the other revealed and confirmed choices; Varric *shudder*, Fenris (yay another gay elf!), Seb (reminds me too much of catholic church priests).

So its looking more and more likely (though I hesitate to say for sure) that Fenris is going to be our Bisexual Elf Love Interest. Ya know cos its okay to be gay if youre not human.

Also, unlike Shale, Seb is *not* included in the standard game. So whereas almost everyone had Shale (due to Shale being free with a new copy of the game), Seb most decidedly will not be quite so prevalent, due to the necessity of paying $7 for anyoen who did not pre-order the Sig edition.

I think it would be interesting if Anders had two voices - his normal Greg Ellis one, and another for when he was possessed, or having the two voices overlaid on top of each other. Also, regardless of whether Anders is a LI, there will be a lot of slash fanart of him and his possessing spirit.

I would love Varric as a LI, though since I play fem!Hawkes mostly I am not terribly bothered which one he is. I just tend to think that if he is a LI it would be likely that he'd be the bi one due to his central role in the story, and thus either Hawke could have (had) that kind of relationship with him.

Though as much as I love Varric, Anders and Fenris are both super hot and I will be happy no matter which ones are romancable.

I don't care who it is (although, yeah, like I said, if you had to pay to get an M/M romance and all the other ones were included, that'd be kinda irksome to say the least. But 99% chance it's not Sebastian, so who cares). My concern is that it's well written, and whoever wrote it didn't feel the need to justify the character's bisexuality. "Oh I'm bi because I was raised by prostitutes." "Oh I'm bi because I'm a bard and love freedom." I don't remember Alistair's story about how he was straight because of the time he got his tongue stuck on a lamppost in winter and so he just thought that was what would happen any time he licked a pole.
