I have to admit, all previous debates aside, that the Fenris obsession is fascinating to me. We know nothing about him. His description so far could apply just as easily to a complete sociopath as it does to the "guarded stoic" people have taken it as... All we know is that he was tortured for years, turned into a killing machine, and escaped.

Yet so many people are already so certain that he's this gentle shy romantic... It's just so weird to me.

Yeah, I'm definitely pulling for Team Fenris now. Though, if Anders is the bisexual male love-interest, his personality-makeover should give us more of the "sizzle" we were looking for. Though I'm sure Anders still has traces of that lighthearted, flirtatious Zevran-esque charm, he should definitely be more serious and grounded. I'm highly intrigued at the thought of a same-sex Anders romance.... but at the same time, I'm not sure that I want it.

Aye. I don't want overly brooding and dark, but the exact opposite is just as bad. Anders just sounded rediculous in DOA, but now he just sounds outright insane or unstable.
Banter and character developement? Awesome and potentially side grabbing.
Romance material? Neeeaaaoooo. I like eccentricism but not when it can kill me :wizard:

Fan personification rules. xD I don't care...I just think he looks awesome and his background intrigues. I'm hoping more for the fiery rival romance then the gentle and shy. I want passion and heat!!

He gives off the vibes I got from Jack in ME2. They draw pretty telling parallels.
Both have telling skin-art, both have a history of torture, both we're bended and melded into killing machines, both have no knowledge of their lives before their transformation and both are dead-set on revenge.
I loved Jack in ME and if you romance her a sweeter side does come out, but thats only with the proper choices and dailogue. You mess up and she gets very antagonastic very quick. I guess people like the troubled and stoic pretty boy archetype? I do want to know his backstory, that much is true.

I thought I'd hate Jack to, but she was my sister from another mother. She was dead awesome. Specially in the dlc outfit with the black and the sunglasses. I would so travel outspace with her on my team. xD

But yeah...Fenris looks like a promising character to interact with. ^_^

Really?  Most people I've talked to don't have that impression.

Fan speculated personality:

- Stoic (what kind of stoic is currently up in the air)
- Possibly very 'zen' (due to him lacking a battlecry)
- Short temper/low patience/easily irritated
- Adverse to physical contact

Not shy or romantic, unless I've missed something (which happens more frequently than I like to admit. =( *not observant*)

As far as his 'romantic' personality goes, aren't most people hoping he's the 'shove-up against a wall' type?

In regards to the 'Fenris' fascination... not really all that different from the Anders or Varric fascination.  Characters are revealed, people squee, sides for 'most awesome' are drawn based on little to no information because we're all excited for the game release and have too much time on our hands.

It's all harmless.

Definitly. Those marks on him have a story(and hopefully some kickass combat moves.) though I think he wont have much of a sense of humor Jack does.
There's a very, very, VERY good reason what whenever I'm taking Miranda out on a mission, Jack comes with.

Looks prevail over personality. Eventually, the character flaws are ignored and an illusion of perfection is created.

Bishop is an interesting example of that. Even though he is from Neverwinter Nights 2, from a different developer, the roleplaying environment is similar. He was basically the only, almost universally attractive male character in the game. Never mind the guyliner.
But he was irredeemably evil, he broke just a bit in the ending, but that was it. He mentioned horrible violence and it seemed like he would also do all that to the player character.

But, he has a huge fandom. A murderer and basically nihilist, but nevermind that, he is hot!

Yes! This is exactly what I want from a Fenris romance! Like Jack, I want Fenris to be completely clueless when it comes to dealing with a decent human being.

Hawke: C'mere Fenris.
Fenris: I- what? What are you doing?!
Hawke: It's called a "hug."

I'll be excited to see if same-sex romance with Fenris is.... shall we say... "more difficult"... as a male Hawke? Like, maybe Fenris is used to being used and discarded, so it's hard to convince him that you're serious about your intentions, or something to that effect...? I'm not sure what I'm trying to say.

agreed. I think the gentle romantic lover thing was mostly a joke. Katie loves to pull that line on me when I talk about pinning Fenris to a wall for some hot rivalry sexing. xD

Fenn wrote...

Sadly...that's my type of stoic! xD *wants to give the guy in the picture a hug* I apologize for my weakness. :pinched:

And not all people takes looks over personality. Yes, there will be fandom no matter what. Marry-sues and happy stories where the character reveals a soft side and becomes all loving and fluffy.

Bleh. No matter how hot the character, if I can't stand the personality, its gone. >_< Out the window. There was this guy in real life I crushed on, but the moment he opened his mouth to reveal he was the biased sort against women and thinks women should stay in the kitchen and make babies...he was off my list forever.

He's difficult in trusting people or their intentions, much less his feelings. Think if he was a robot in a way. :)
Years of abuse, slavery and experimentation made him cold to all emotional contact. He was built to be a killing machine, there's no room for pretty emotions like "love" in his purpose when he was turning. Maybe Hawke can make him see otherwise?

THAT'S WHAT I WANT FROM FENRIS. He needs comfort, and Hawke should be the one to give it to him! I'll Friendship-Romance him tenderly and have nice cuddleparties, and you, Shayde, can Rival-Romance him up against a wall! Either way, it'll be GLORIOUS!

I just want to know, are people really serious when they say they want Fenris as the gay male love interest? I mean, I know everyone's tastes are different, but there already was an elf as the gay love interest in DAO, and I have a hard time understanding why so many people seem to rejoice at the idea that Fenris will be the gay love interest.

I admit that I'm disappointed with the potential male love interests, so I'm really surprised that not only are people not disappointed but they seem to really like certain possibilities. I'm just questioning why there aren't more posts expressing disappointment and why there seems to be primarily approval messages.

But me, I really hope it won't be any of the annouced party members because they just don't go well with male Hawke. I hope for a non party member love interest....

Meh, I don't like challange. Easing and tugging them from their comfort zone is fun, but I can't wait for anyone. This game does take over the course of ten years. I'd probably be done with it by attempt two.<_<
