I wonder just how different to rivalry romances are from the friendship ones.

rivalry romance = competitive, fiery, pin him to the wall or floor and go wild, then throw shots at each others bed-talents afterward all the while smirking and laughing together

The whole rivalry/friendship romance dynamic could potentially make for some really interesting replay options. If you want to play the game multiple times to experience all the romances, perhaps you'll have to replay it twice as many times because there are 2 ways each romance can go. I really hope it works that way.

Same can be said for the companion quests in general. I haven't been reading everything about the game (like to keep a little mystery alive for when I first play it), but it seems like you can go down the friendship or rivalry path with regard to the choices you make during the companion quests, and so the results of those quests will be different, and end up with a world that looks different later on. Again, if that's the case there's masses of replay potential there ... and that's very welcome.

The realistic arguemet doesn't make much sense considering how much stuff in the games are unrealistic. 

Granted I used to use that arguement myself but the only times its used for is if someone does like something. Might as well out and out say you don't like it. 

Cultural attitudes have a HUGE effect on bisexuality numbers; a lot of people repress bisexual feelings based on cultural taboo, in Thedas if it is openly accepted and practiced by the hierarchy same sex sexual relationships will likely be very common (near 50% of all physical relationships) though by no means would permanent relationships be. Marriage in yonder times was more about property and heirs than love.

Remember, sexual orientation is a spectrum not a toggle.

I think the writers touched on the that same subject a bit already by noting the differences in how sexuality is viewed in places like Orlais and Antiva compared to Ferelden. It'll be interesting to see what attitudes are like in Kirkwall or even if attitudes change over time as the refugees become assimilated into a new culture.

Man...I love Fenris, but googling for artwork became a very scary treck through hetero fandom. Ok...I'm all for a romance with Fen, but the whole cuddling with big smiles and hearts around their head is a bit much. Maybe its just cause its b/g and not m/m. xD Ah well...found a few good ones. Now I'm scared to google the other characters like Varric, though. <_<

Hey, we don't know! As much as it pains me, Oghren's slight homophobia was pretty amusing. Maybe we'll see more of it. And I will laugh extra hard if it comes from Bethany or Carver.

Oh, I absolutely agree. If it's an issue at all, it'll be limited to party banter. But even that much will be amusing to me.

*snerk* Brilliant, good ser! I really doubt that bystanders will react to Hawke's romances at all, but it's amusing nonetheless. (And, hey, ME2 bystanders always knew who I was walking around with. Maybe we'll see something similar in DA2?)

It's stuff like that that makes me hope that the male same-sex love interest is reserved about his sexuality. See, Zevran would have been all over those bystanders, trying to get them to join M!Warden and himself. In DA2, I want to see something different, like the bisexual LI becoming protective of manHawke, or growing embarassed.
