I'd want to adventure with the m/m LI and hear their comments about quests we're doing etc. As far as there being a character exclusive to m/m only, that would be cool but I don't mind and I'm really not sure why some people get worked up about having to 'share' a bisexual LI between genders.

It really sucks not knowing. One aspect of my Male Hawke's personality is totally dependent on who the m/m LI is. I want to know if I should go back to the drawing board or not.

*whines*

Definitely agree, especially since Isabela was pretty much a given from the get-go.

Someone in the romance confirmation thread suggested that the developers may be holding back who the m/m romance is so that players will give them a chance (instead of labeling them as 'the gay one' and killing them right off the bat.)

Do people actually do that? That is by far one of the most pathetic things I've ever heard.

Some people did that with Zevran, at least from what I have read.

I actually have straight guy friends who did that and laughingly talked about it.  In front of me.  A homosexual. :lol:  It just goes to show what some people are like, doesn't it?  It makes me sad that they have to hide it for such reasons if that's indeed the reason, but...I think the character deserves a chance not to get murdered for no reason. >_>;

Given the way this is going and the fact that I'm not really keen on both of these possibilities I suppose the best I can hope for is a Dairren like moment with a pretty npc for my gay mHawke or failing even that some flirtatious lines with male versions of minor npcs like Bella and Kaithlyn.

Of course the natural pessimist in me thinks none of the above will be included and that mHawke will either have to be straight with Isabella or resigned to an existence filled with stoic celibacy.

Not in the slithest. It would only make sense that there would be s/s only character when there is only hetero relationship options

Yes. Yes it would. Having non-party LI's in addition to at least one companion is fine but to have 3 hetero LI companions, one bi female companion, and then have any and all m/m relationships religated to inarguably less involved characters?
Yes that would be bad.

Yes, exactly.

But we're jumping to ridiculous conclusions based on absolutely nothing here folks. I have my fair share of tin-foil hat wearing moments, trust me ... but some of us are working ourselves into a right lather over absolutely nothing. It's like kids who make themselves ill on Christmas Eve because they're so excited and exhausted and wound up so tight they can't take it any more.

Come on ... we'll be okay :)

I was lobeying for all bi LI in DA:2 a few pages back in this very thread, but someone posted confirmation that there would only be one f/f LI and one m/m LI.  If you search the back pages, you could probably find it, but I'm turning in for the night now.

I confirmed nothing. If you wish to interpret my wording, then make sure you say you're doing that rather than "it was confirmed".

Yes, I did realize that... which is why I rectified my statement in the edited portion of my post...

"The wording seems like a strong indication that there will only be one m/m party member in DA:2."

The reason I didn't edit out the rest of my post was because--prior to hunting down and re-reading that quote--I really did think it had been confirmed, and I didn't see any reason to delete my mistake like a dirty internet secret when I could just edit in an update. ;)

I apologize for the confusion though.  It wouldn't be the first time that I've failed to word something appropriately/better, which makes one wonder why I'm on the forums at all.

Whoever is the M/M LI I hope it doesn't feel forced for the sake of it.  Which I fear based on what we've seen so far with Anders and Fenris.

Anders makes me feel that his normal romance might be forced let alone the m/m version of it.

Guy has far more important things to worry about than falling in love.

And yes I agree with you I'm not overly fond of forced and awkward romances.

I assumed this was all hypothetical. When the romances were officially announced, I pretty much took that to mean either Anders or Fenris is definately the m/m option.

He does seem to have a lot of **** going on. He's juggling ju-vengeance spirit demon thing AND looking after Ser Pounce-a-lot and a lot of people seemed to want to romance him in Awakenings so I hope its not as forced as Garrus' romance.

Urgh. The romance for Garrus... DO NOT WANT.

Loved him, but his "romance" was so bad. :(

So, I agree. I would rather not have a romantic relationship at all than a forced one.

I will be happy with either of them being the option. I will be even happier if both of them are.

It was how a relationship between an alien and a human should be, they would not be biologically compatible and Garrus had a really difficult time letting his guard down. It was perfect, in my opinion.

I agree, the romance with Garrus was not so good :( though I'll keep him in ME3, I've been loving thi turian for too long^^

We'll see for both Fenris and Anders, I hope to have it going slow and smooth over the years, and not rushed:)

*didn't mind Garrus' romance so much* Then again I used the whole "he's known her for a while now." excuse. Plus they were going on a suicide mission so he threw caution to the wind.
I don't think that'll work with Anders.

No, I agree with that. I meant the absolute lack of content to the romance. They could have explored the pros and cons to attempting a relationship a little more in my opinion.

I guess I'm just a little bitter after hearing, "Can it wait for a bit? I'm in the middle of some calibrations." for the upteenth time.

The only people I've heard complain about sharing bisexual LI are, surprisingly, straight. Maybe they are possessive and invest too much in the fantasy game. I don't know.

What I DO know is that this is, in fact, a fantasy game and suspension of belief is part of what makes up a fantasy game. Even if ALL the characters were capable of falling in love with a male or FEMALE Hawke, you playing your game would always be capable of simply PRETENDING that X & Y are straight and Z is gay, not bisexual. That's what Fantasy is. Pretending. Lord knows we already pretend our PCs are evil or good, even when both options are very available to us.

When I romanced Leliana, I CERTAINLY did NOT get the Bisexual vibe from her. Almost all her stories involved strong women, she hinted at a relationship with Marjolaine, and her interests involved cute and very feminine things that guys probably wouldn't dig (Shoes anyone)? To me, Leliana was straight up Lesbian with no questions about it. To others, Bi.

I just didn't like how 'suave' he suddenly was. I mean yes, I'm sure many people think he's cool and stylish and he kind of is but I don't recall him constantly talking about how cool and stylish he is in the first game. It felt like his personality was changed to accomodate a romance that a lot of fans wanted. Obviously I realize as he gets to know Shepard he's going to become less terse but the talk about things like his stretchy turian conquests and such seemed out of place.

Anyway Anders and Fenris and male lovin' and other on-topic things!

Calibration time!

I swear to god if any of the DA2 characters do something similar. I will scream. Garrus was always calibrating. That was just...irritating.

I dinno. Anders has also been very alone and neglected all of his life. Learning to receive support from someone who is human as opposed to a spirit could be a massive stepping stone for him.

It was probably due to having so many love interests, the game was shorter over all, than the first one. I guess from that viewpoint, it is good that Dragon Age 2 did not go for the quantity path. But they did well with what resources they had.

NOW IF ONLY THEY WOULD FREAKING FINALLY DO THE M/M ROMANCES

Oh...

I love you. *paws at Ryzaki*

EDIT: And...

Hawke: Fenris, do you have a moment?
Fenris: Can it wait for a bit? I'm busy phasing my hand through this man's chest.

or

Hawke: Anders, we need to talk.
Anders: Can it wait for a bit? I'm in the middle of trying to convince Vengeance not to eat those people over there.
