Reel it in, people, reel it in....! This is a place to discuss man-lovin', not people-eatin'! (Unless it's that special, ESRB-Approved style of man-eatin', if ya know what I mean, wink-wink, nudge-nudge.)

ANYWAY, I really loved it when Zevran proposed to my male Warden, so here's a conversation starter!

Engagments and marriages were definitely a part of DA:O. Do you think we'll see more of that in DA2, because the story spans ten years? Or will we have a decade-long courtship, with no vows enxchanged? Do you think we'll see same-sex proposals?

@Progressive_Stupidity1: Yeah sorry if Vodka took control that's because you drank it. So no I feel no empathy for your jerk self.

And said demon only took control because you took a noble just spirit and *corrupted* it. Willingingly or no. And yeah you have empathy. Just enough for me to make your death quick and painless. Not enough for me to let you keep running around killing people while that demon is still inside of you.

@ Ryzaki,

If we're talking about people from Awakenings, before all this info came out I was sort of hoping we'd get a chance to explore Nate in depth in DA2.

But if Anders has become the kind of cannibal I think he is then he's crossed the moral event Horizon for me and the only "redemption" I can envision for him in game lies in him being delivered into the hands of the Maker by way of my sword.

Really I was hoping for Nate too. Anders struck me as shallow and annoying in DAA.

Well while I think he's a cannibal I'm pretty sure its not concious on his part (if it is urgh that'll be my MEH) but I'll still kill him. He's very dangerous. Chantry or no chantry.

I'd like to think if a demon took control of my body and made me dismember and eat a bunch of people I'd get a little empathy. Or if Vodka took control of my body and made me verbally abuse 60% of a house party's attendants...

I never really got the Nathaniel crushiness.  Nor Anders, to be fair. I just thought he was a fairly humorous Alistair 2.0.

I'm no fan of the Twinkie defence IRL either and while I will never support any kind of state administered death penalty I do think that you should be locked up and kept sedated and straightjacketed in a padded cell to ensure the safety of the rest of us in the first case. In the second case it hinges on whether you imbibed the Vodka voluntarily or if it was force fed to you. If it is the former the former you should be senteced to mandatory drug rehab/ aa meetings in the latter the people who did it to you should be sentenced to whatever the court thinks is appropriate in light of the circumstances.

As far as I know Anders voluntarily agreed to let the demon possess him thus making him fully a fully culpable party to any and all actions the "demon" may have performed whilst in possession of his body.
Even if its not voluntary well lets just say I think dear Anders has proven why the rite of tranquility may be justified in some cases.

Please, please take the Anders-specific talk to the Anders Thread..... I really don't want to see the M/M Romance thread closed down again....

What will you do if we get a male same-sex romance option, and one-off male romances? (Like Dairren in DA:O.) Will you make a manHawke who is a total horndog, or stay true to your lover?

My Hawkes are the faithful types. <3

If they're sleeping around they don't have an LI.

I wouldn´t call Dairren a Romance, you could just have a one-night-stand with him and then he died horribly ;)

I don´t care about romances outside of the group much. I´d rather have someone you could take anywhere with you, who is really part of the story.

Well seeing as I'm not really interested in either of the possible in party options for m/m love I'll take what I can get. If there's any Npc guy who's as cute as Dairren was you can bet I'll claim him and provided he's not a one off tumble the hay and stays true to me you can bet I'll stay true to him.

Sadly I've got this nagging suspicion any NPC Li's that go beyond casual flirtation or one off tumbles, if there even are any, are going to be strictly straight only.

My male Human Noble would have gladly rescued Dairren and proposed to him after the landsmeet/during the epilogue if that had been possible. As I've said my mage had already claimed Zevran and having a second gay male Li (Origin specific) Npc or no would have given me the possibility of two gay playthroughs. Plus it helped I had a major crush on Dairren from the start, he was just so cute and adorable.

Dairren is an Origin fling, something that, had Howe not have gotten ambitious, could have gone further.

Anyway, I'm a faithful player - I pick someone who I'm going to romance over the course of the game and stick to them. Hell, when it comes to the ME2 romances, I play through ME1 single just to pick one of them out and not be cheating. So when I know who my m/m romance option is, I'm sticking to them. Okay, maybe before getting onto the romance path, I'll hit up the ****house, but overall, I pick one romance and stay with them.

I tend to just try and hit everything I'm baited with just to see what's possible.... so I always get a "talking to." Please tell me there's a jealousy face-off between Fenris and Anders. I can't even imagine how hilarious that would be. But, once I've poked around the game a bit, I tend to develop characters based on what I know is possible... like my mage with a Templar fetish (Cullen and Alistair ftw). Whatever character I make that completes the Fenris romance is likely to stay true, but my Anders romance character will probably be a bit... colourful.

I get the impression Fenris would just glare a lot, or throw a strop and storm off.

I saw a theory but I frankly think it's nonsense.

The theory is that revealing the s/s male LI would result in certain players not giving that character a chance before writing him off.

Second theory is that everyone's bi. (While much more attractive than theory 1 it's also extremely less likely).

But for 3 wouldn't it have been more effective not to reveal any of the LIs?  And when we found those pics just to shrug and go "Maybe. You'll have to play to find out."

lol. Wynne. xD I don't like Anders cause the more I seem him in awakening, the more he appears to be a cheap remake of Alistair with a changed class and a given obsession with cats. And now, he...or Justice...is a cannibal. My mage is kind in that he pitied his friend Jowan and gave him over to be tranquil,  but I draw the line at cannibalism. I'm pretty sure Anders is going to have to die in one of my playthroughs. <_<

*has momentary memories of the cannibals in JE*  :crying: That part of the game so officially creeped me out more then any game at the time. xD

One again, I go back to adoring Fenris. His abuse was mostly being expiramented on with Lyrium, sufficiently erasing his childhood memories, and then being used as a weapon of war by the magister. There's nothing to say the Magister would beat him every night and such. Just keep him locked up. Plus, if he's bi I agree its more likely that he just doesn't know anything about and thus has no preference guided by society's standards. Thus...you can't claim him to be an abused gay elf. But that's just my look at it. xD

Aw, really?  I don't think Anders is like Alistair at all!  And even though he has that tendency to... eat people while possessed... I wouldn't completely write him off as the m/m romance just yet.  He's obviously very changed from Origins, and we don't know how that change has affected his character just yet.  We have to play the game.

I've only seen one speaking clip of Anders, but in it, he seemed... alright (okay, he seemed awesome, I admit it.)  The only thing that turns me off is the cannibalism, but that was only one glimpse into his character that I'm overanalyzing because we're all rather starved for info here. :P

I know we all have our first picks (I know I do.  MmMmm... accents!) but I don't think Fenris is any more likely to be the m/m LI than Anders at this point.

Because we've had Fenris for longer (Anders was only speculated to be in the game till very recently) I've developed more of an interest in his character and backstory than Anders', but I wouldn't be surprised if I had a completely 180 upon playing the game.

Apparently, I flip-flop a lot. :P

Out of curiousity, Blue, what would make you MORE interested in Anders?  And this question is open to anyone else who feels like answering.

Well that one goes without saying. It's implicit in any and all theories.

Though I must say, I'm hoping on theory number two, because both Fenris and Anders have some very interesting role-playing possibilities that I'd like to play out romancing them, and I'm having such trouble deciding between the two.

I'm going to have to stand up for Anders a bit here - we don't actually *know* he is a cannibal. Eaten flesh within the context of the story may more mean that he bit and clawed while fighting, not actually casually consumed meat for a meal.

Then why not use the word gnawed? Or shreaded? Why use eaten? The word eaten was used after describing the "honeyed wine" taste of blood, the comparison to a slaughterhouse....

It just makes little sense to use the word eaten for flesh that wasn't actually consumed.

I don't see myself when I change, only the reflection in their eyes and the sound of their screams. My arm lashes out and silverite doesn't so much break as explode in a shower of molten metal. The sword melts, running down the templar's chest, and I follow up with a wave of flames which scorch the flesh from his face, leaving only bone so hot it smolders. The trees are burning… the tent… everything around us.

Rolan is still standing, and I smell the lyrium he drank, which guarded him from the blast. But he's afraid. I see his shield jerk and know he barely resisted the urge to flee, and I have a sudden thought, "What am I?" for I've seen him face both broodmothers and abominations without fear.

And then his sword is level with my chest, and I let it come, because it is only steel and cannot hurt me, for I am not of mortal men. And when it sinks hilt-deep in my flesh with no reaction, that's when he gives up. He turns and runs, and from behind, I tear his head off at the neck, no magic, just me, whatever that is now. His blood splashes into my open mouth and it tastes like honeyed wine and the warmth spreads through me.

He hated me, and he is dead. He feared me, and he is dead. He hunted me, and he is dead.

They will all die. Every templar, every holy sister who stands in the way of our freedom will die in agony and their deaths will be our fuel. We will have justice. We will have vengeance.

And suddenly I'm alone, standing in a burning forest, with the bodies of templars and wardens at my feet. So many, and I didn't even know they were there. Didn't even know I had killed them, but the evidence is all around me. Not the aftermath of a battle as I've known it, but a bloody abattoir of rent limbs and torn and eaten flesh.

Plus this is the person who gave us broodmother.

I'm pretty sure he actually ate them.

Well a spirit of the fade is still a demon, whether good or bad. So Anders is possessed, by a demon. Him being a cannibal and murdering old women isn't out of the question for a demon. So I don't really see it as Anders doing it

Not so. All demons are spirits, not all spirits are demons.

Personally, even if I find it funny that you either have a blood mage or an abomination (or both) on your team, I wont write Anders off if he's a s/s LI (which means not killing him), by the end of the day, if he can control it, then he's useful.

As for not telling us the Li, I think they are just doing the whole "save the best for last" thing, since s/s romances bring in a whole lot of publicity.
