I think the fact that people can argue about a character, delve into the characters storyline and logically try to figure out the motives of a characters actions, proves that the character in fact was designed well. You can't go that deep with a flat character. So to see us argue for and against Zevran, Leliana, Jack, etc...would make the creators very happy. Cause it means they made us think about this character as a person. As a writer, I can see that and hope someday a character I were to write will be debated in this manner. =)
And whether I liked the character or not, I added them all to my party. xD You need some form of teams near the end of the game. If you don't like a character, you just don't have to talk to them. Heck, I couldn't hold a conversation with Sten without somehow making him mad at me, so I avoided talking with him the whole game and only gave him gifts so he wouldn't betray me. xD (I still need a conversation guide for that man. xD)
Honestly, looking at the three, Anders is more like Zevran to me then Fenris. The only similiarity with Fenris is slavery, being hunted, and elf. And in those words. Slavery, really can't be counted in to much, because most all elves are slaves in some way...whether through servitude brought on by poverty or straight out plain slavery. its part of the elven story in the DA world. Being hunted, is only similiar in the most basic form. Zev is being hunted cause he failed his mission and ran away from his high level assassin group. Fenris is being hunted by his crazy master who doesn't want his killing machine escaping his control. And finally...the elf thing. But really, we don't choose our parents. =P
I wish Shaun/Desmond was the real deal. <_<
