Shale was the dl for DA:O and didn't even have a romance option. So far the devs have already issued the names of the romance characters and sadly Sebastian isn't in the group but who knows for sure. Ugh, ,Anders, the mental patient, would be even worse than Fenris, imho, though I don't fancy either choice which is why I'm really, really hoping Sebastian is another viable m/m option.
I didn't like Anders all that much in Awakenings to begin with but from what I've seen so far they've managed to make him far,far worse in DA2.
Otherwise the one of the other options I"ve mentioned before will have to do until DA3.
If there is at least some m/m flirtation with NPCs included my MHawke can at least openly identify as gay even if he has to be celibate otherwise.

There are many sorts of rivalry. But I imagine trying to put some sense into Anders through it could end up with a few rough moments.

I doubt with Anders overwhelming sense of justice...aka a demon that flips out and rends flesh from bone, that it would be smart to take a rivalry path with Anders. Seeing as the rivalry path is where the two of you disagree on views, but the other still needs your help.........Anders might flip if you refuse to let him rip apart a few templar or priests cause you don't agree with him that its right. In fact, I'm pretty sure rivalry with Anders would be suicidal...or at some point at least end in someone's death.............probably Anders.

Ms. Hepler hinted that rivalry with Anders might just be the thing that puts him back to sanity. It could be that agreeing and the friendship path would just encourage Vengeance.

Sebastian is really fine. Not digging the elf though unless he has Zeveran's witty personality however more than likely the elf will win.

I'm surprised to. I figured they'd want a beauty soothes the beast story with Anders. Love and friendship will conquer the evil inside and make everybody warm and fuzzy!!!!!!!!!! *hugs for all*

I'm not neccessarily sure the rivalry system means hate!sex, though. Mostly you disagree with the character about one big thing, and over time (if you max out the rivalry meter and complete all their personal quests) you can change their mind. It sounds more like the "hardening" system in place for Alistair or Leliana, only more developed. But tha doesn't mean hate. The devs have made it clear the characters will still be friends with Hawke in a rivalry system. There just might be a little more tension there.

i think i read that if you take the rivalry to far though, it will become hate and lead to the party member turning on you. note...i think I read that somewhere. don't remember when or where. xD

But.... but Fenris has amnesia! He shouldn'ty remember any ex-lovers! Not even Rinna! I mean-

I'm still pulling for the "Do I like men? Let's find out~" route with Fenris. No ex-lovers to muck up. Even if he suddenly has a flashback and recalls an ex-lover, I'll enjoy the few hours we had where manHawke was the only one on his mind. *le sigh*


EDIT:  @umwhatyousay, I'm pretty sure that was about Varric. No ex-wife to speak of, and his past isn't "dark" so much as it's "shady." As in.... Varric is pretty much exactly what we think he is!

no reason to be so negative, ser trophonius... complaints after complaints, bioware is still the only western RPGs creator brave enough to write a fleshed out man-on-man romance... that's something, and despite many people's negativity, it is evident that the company tries to offer what gay-mers want...

I have to agree with Ryzaki that there might not be a m/m option.  I mean if Fenris isn't, and Sebastion isn't that only leaves Anders...and I don't believe he would be an option.  Looks like long, cold and lonely nights at the camp fire.

True but they didn't confirm s/s romances in the confirmation thread either if you look at it.

The Sebastian thing, to be honest, was just reminded me of the Mass Effect 2 rumors of a bi male. They went so far, that I believed them and even played through the first one again with a male, just to find out that it wasn't going to happen. Would like to help ppl not feel that sense of disappointment.
