Hello there,
My friend Purchased Mass Effect 2 on Steam. He went to play it on his Acer Laptop but it will not work.
When I asked him why, he said that his video card is not supported yet I do not see this being mentioned on the system requirements for Mass Effect 2. The video card that is in his Acer is the Nvidia Geforce G210M.
I know it's not a powerful gaming laptop, but is runs games that are new such as Front Mission Evolved, on the low settings of course.
Is this Chipset simply not supported? My video card is a GTS 250 and it runs maxed out and it's not listed in the requirements.
Video Card not supported?

Laptop chipsets are not supported. The Geforce G210m is quite pathetic but it should at least run the game.

Maybe http://www.systemreq...tslab.com/cyri/ can give you some more info. But if the card is not included in the official system requirements I wouldn't keep too high hopes :-(

"Pathetic" is a perfect description for it. The latest onboard Chipset video chips outperform the 210 / 310 pair.

lol! so harsh on the video card. Is this card not even able to run Mass Effect 2 on the lowest settings? I am not sure what his CPU is

Everyone has his / her own individual sensorium, and value judgments on such things as animation smoothness and visual image quality vary all across the spectrum, but in this game, none of it matters if the FPS cannot be maintained at 20 or better. The environmental interaction is limited by the speed of the feedback that the game gets from the graphics, and a 210 is just too slow, same with a 310.
Here's an up to date version of the "no go" lists they started with for it:
Video Card = 256 MB (with Pixel Shader 3.0 support). Supported GPU Chips: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 or greater; ATI Radeon X1600 Pro or greater. Please note that NVIDIA GeForce G.210/310, 7100, 7200, 7300, 7400, 7500, 8100, 8200, 8300, 8400, 9100, 9200, and 9300; ATI Radeon X1300, X1550, HD 2400, 3100, 3200, HD 3450, HD 3470, HD 4200, HD 4250, HD 4350, and (probably) HD 5450 are below minimum system requirements. Updates to your video and sound card drivers may be required. Intel and S3 video devices are not officially supported in Mass Effect 2.

Thank you for that information.
And I agree with you actually, on my computer I can personally run Mass Effect 2 on maxed out, I have not bench marked my FPS for it, but the game itself runs beautifully smooth. I really admire the artistic elegance that is put into the game.
My friend on the other hand is more of a "if it runs, fine" His Acer Desktop can run it, but only on the lowest settings since he's using on board for that computer in specific
