I tried TW2, but quickly got frustrated with my inane flailing. The same with Jade Empire. In the the ME series I didn't have that problem, so I guess it's just real-time melee combat that I severely suck at.
So for me, there isn't much out there in the fantasy genre.

It has as specialized builds as DA:O,
the game is RPG/RTS, tho i play it 90% RPG, using armies only as last resort.
The game does have dialogs mind you, and even your own dialogs are voiced,
but it is more to the point.

I loved at this game that light romance... the freedom of choice... I fell in love with Merrill from the beggining (who played will understand) because of her pure character. From the moment I finished the Dragon Age 2, I couldnt stop thinking about it. I just have to find a classic action RPG with adjustable relationships. Do anybody know about THAT sort of game? I know about DA:O, Mass Effect, but there must be more! Will I just have to wait until december for Dragon Age 3 to come out?
Well, if you don't mind going to older games, Baldur's Gate II, with it's expansion Throne of Bhaal, is one of the all time best RPGs; and it has romance and all sorts of possible drama with your companions.
The storyline is awesome. The writing is top notch, and the amount of content in the game is amazing. I don't dare to think of how many hours I spent on that game.
If that is too old for you - if you can't get over the graphics - then little younger oldie that might be worth trying is Neverwinter Nights 2. It has party interaction, a couple of romance options, and pretty interesting gameplay.

Any other game will lack something.

The entire series plays on Windows 7.
@CDR
Baldur's Gate says hello? It was the spiritual predecessor to Dragon Age so it's not startling when you see the similarities. At least when you compare Baldur's Gate to Origins. Both are party-based, feature random encounters, feature a world-map and have companion interaction (which BGII expands on over the first game by introducing more dialogue and romances).
If you're talking about consoles though then you're probably right. I can't think of a game on console which matches Dragon Age: Origins and unfortunately I don't think DA3 will match it although I hope it will be a good game nonetheless...

The original Baldurs Gate is also fantastic. Especially if you add character mods to it to enrich your party experience. Some great people wrote some truly fantastic ones. At no time have I ever been so involved with a fantasy character. They are so well developed that they just seem real and get right into your head. So find those character/relationship mod expansions and play the ****er. Same gfx/ui drawbacks, but these are beautiful games.
It's too bad that story gets sacraficed for flash these days. I hate that. DAO did alright, though. Another wonderful story is the MOTB expansion for NWN2. The OC kind of sucked, but wow, that expansion was fantastic. And another... but this one is dirty, is "A dance with Rogues". It's a fan made mod for NWN1. It's hot, and it will seriously make you blush. Great storyline and hard-as-hell fighting in that, too. It's deeply engrossing, and lots of choices and outcomes. Much more than DOA, in fact.

But srsly. Planescape:Torment. Most neglected RPG ever. Someone has got to remake that game with todays flashy pretty stuff because the story is beyond wonderful. What a loss that so few people know it and are able play it. We feed our brains on pablum, these days... mushy and soft with no chewing required. I am kinda glad my family was too poor for computers and that I grew up on books ;p

Dragon Age: Origins is just perfect in almost any way, even though it lacks a bit in character development. I can't honestly say I can think of any game matching it.
SW:KOTOR is a bit oldschool but almost as great as DA:O, however KOTOR lacks in character interaction instead of development.
The only other titles that spring my mind when talking great RPG's are:
Mass Effect (Not SRPG, but still decent)
Jade Empire (Rubbish compared to DA:O, but still decent. IT HAS KUNG-FU)
Elder Scrolls series (Mostly the newest, Skyrim. Be aware, these are open-world RPG's where every action influences the world. Skyrim argueably has the most character customization of all RPG's but lacks a good story)
Dungeon Siege (A bit plain, with no character progression whatsoever, but still funny)
Fable 2 (Pretty good, but more Hack'n'Slash than strategy, and it's a lot of the same throughout the game.)
I haven't played some of the older RPG's as mentioned in this thread, but from the descriptions they sound funny. Bauldur's Gate sounds a lot like Dungeon Siege, as does Neverwinter Nights.
Just my opinion, please don't brand me too much because of it.

The sparcity of games with gameplay similar to DA:O is depressing.
Yep, all I can think of has been mentioned already.
NWN2 (obviously)
Drakesang. More in depth mechanics than DA. Equivalent visuals (very pretty games). Inferior (but not poor) voice acting & writing.
One other that does suggest itself, if you have a ps2 or emulator, is Final Fantasy XII.
The closest thing to a japanese 'bioware rpg'... why the fans hated it... and I loved it...
