Hello everyone,

I've been trying to create new backgrounds using the wiki tut here

I kept getting an error in one of the script despite having followed the instructions exactly - repeated attempts here.

Edit: the problem with the strings is finally resolved, sigh. But I still get that script error with sys_chargen :(

I was able to get it setup myself. Now I'm working on pairing it down to just one background for my particular story.



What error are you getting? What line number?

It's line 863 ><, it has to do with the gen00 plt file but I don't get why the script is still referring to it.

I would make sure that you've first, created your own plot file. You shouldn't be editing the single player one. Also be sure that if you're not following his naming structure (he adds bdm_ to all of his custom scripts), that you're keeping the same naming scheme throughout. Also, which script file of the four (I believe its that many) that he creates is having the problem?

Thanks for the reply. I created my own plot, and I replaced all his bdm prefix's with my own. I'll just recreate the process one more time exactly as he does it with my own naming scheme and I'll copy paste the scripts here and mark which one gives the error.

Here is the error:

When compiling my san_sys_chargen.nss I get this error:

E: 12:54:29 - sys_chargen_h.nss - sys_chargen_h.nss(863): Variable defined without type (while compiling plt_gen00pt_backgrounds.nss)

What's your full script? That error comes up if you don't specify the type of variable you're setting (i.e. string, object, int, etc).

Thanks for the help everyone, I've finally solved it. I just deleted all the files in my mod save for the script (had plenty of other scripts) and redid this and now it works. So now I have to find out which ot the other scripts caused the problem. I also reset the string range in my module. I don't know what caused it but at least it works now.
