I was hoping Karpyshyn would do some of the writing in ME3.. But oh well.

So far no one knows who's part of the writing team for ME3, so Karpyshyn may have a part to play. I mean write. It's unlikely since he's working on tOR as well but it's not impossible.

I'm actually fairly certain I've read somewhere that Karpyshyn outlined the whole ME3 plot before ME2 even came out. Only the outline, though.

How long have they been writing swtor? I know the game is huge but I'm still hoping he finds the time to work on Mass Effect.

I've completely altered my original post and I reserve the right to alter it further. :P The more I read about how the writers developed the game, the more I understand the process is far too convoluted to give credit to any one person. So instead, I think I'll just seek out the various articles and posts they have made and leave their words to speak for themselves.

Reading this and some of the links about him just makes me want Chris L'Etoile back to work on ME3. He seems responsible for so much awesome stuff and seems to like the same style and aspects of ME1 that I did, as well as the same sci-fi I really enjoy.

Chris L'Etoile is my hero. He wrote the planetary descriptions in ME1 as well as my favorite characters. And Weekes with his work on LOTSB comes as a very worthy mention.

Thanks for this, Pac. Subscribed.

Seconded. BioWare overall has good writing but Chris L'Etoille's characters seem to be my favourites from the Mass Effect universe, plus I greatly enjoyed his two entries on his developer blog for the original ME. Too bad he quit...

Any info on who wrote Zaeed and Udina? :D

Thanks, Paci! I appreciate the time and effort taken to compile this information.

Is there no indication as to who wrote Kaidan, though? That's something I've always wanted to know.

So when I first wrote this thread, I'm not exactly sure what my intentions were. The writing of Mass Effect is a popular topic, particularly when comparing Mass Effect 1 and 2. But focusing on how one writer is the "main" writer for any given character probably gives people a skewed impression of who to praise or blame. I love Wrex. Maybe Mac Walters wrote Wrex but it was Lukas Kristjanson who wrote the line "Shepard! My friend!" that was given life by Steven Barr in a manner exceeding the writers' expectations. And maybe I only notice the voice work because of how the cinematic team structured the handshake. So I don't know, I feel like changing purposes now.

I'd like to compile anything I find that is from any person in the development team who sheds light on the process. I don't want to simply say "so-and-so did such-and-such," I want the articles that actually said who did what. I think that would be a good resource aside from the fans going "well, I think I heard one time that it was..." Yes? No? Who's with me? Find me articles!

Incidentally, +5 approval points to Dusty Everman. Updated the original post.

Not Patrick Weekes because all he wrote was side quests and elevator conversations: http://pats-quinade....com/125004.html

It wasn't Chris L'Etoile either. Look at the links that he lists what he wrote.

Doesn't seem to be Mac Walters who said he worked on Wrex and Garrus and several quests:

What are the other writers on the credits? Drew Karpyshyn and Lukas Kristjanson? Is that it? Drew had already written Liara and Tali, and also he was busy with being the lead writer. That would leave Lukas Kristjanson.

I'm going to try to imagine all of Grunt's lines as said by Raphael Sbarge, see if he turns into Kaidan. :P

This is interesting, thank you for writing this. We praise the voice actors a lot because they do great jobs, but it's their dialogue that lets them show their talents.

Heh-heh. It´s like this game - you write the name on the paper, fold it and pass on to the next person, who writes the action performed and passes on to the next, who describes....:innocent:

Got here from Zaeed´s thread and have to thank you for an interesting bit of info here. Hadn´t really conceived how large was the team of writers ´till now.

Better yet, imagine Kaidan with Grunt´s voice and posture "I. HAVE. A. HEADACHE!"

After Patrick Weekes replied to me on Twitter I didn't post here on purpose just to see how quickly you'd notice. Well done. It seems you've got your sources covered.

Heh. I have been tempted to make use of my Twitter and Facebook accounts to hunt down some ME developers who probably don't look at the forums much. I didn't actually find your Tweet on my own, someone on the Garrus thread mentioned Patrick Weekes being a writer for Garrus and I went "[citation needed]." :P

What, nobody took credits for writing Shepard?
