So yes, I agree the M-rating should be re-evaluated. But ultimately the system has failed as it is just seen as a "guide" to be viewed or ignored.

the notion that it's entertainment.
They say games should be for kids, but games should be called entertainment, games second.
If we don't change the way we look at entertainment as a whole.
It's still going to be a Game for kids.
I have alot of respect for Visceral, that's for sure.

They say video games are for kids.
And i say why do you watch movies then if it's just fantasy.
Then they say,well it's because i like the action,romance,drama.
Then i laugh telling them that there is no problem solving in a movie.

Yes and no,because it was entertainment back then too, when my parent had porn on there Atari.lolArt3mShepard wrote...
But modern games evolved from games for kids, right? And they have been evolving through this time and parent have seen them as kid's entertainment. So they still understand videogames that way.
I'm talking about parents that never played a game in there life, other than a board game.

As for nudity... I think it says a lot about our culture where we can show blood and gore in video games, excessive violence on television, but people will freak out over a brief topless scene in an RPG game rated for adults? Basically what I'm saying is people subconsciously place murder and killing people as something more acceptable in video games than brief nudity.

Last time I checked corporations use games like WoW to initiate workplace cohesion. SC2 professional gamers in Korea are basically rock stars and have fangirls and are recognized on sight as easily as any Hollywood actor here would be. Professional gamers make it a point to stay in shape, moreso than most of the rest of the population.

I agree 100%
I have big nude statues in my house.
What are people going to say when they enter my home?

It's entertainment, and if they just add sex in just to look bad, then that's their choice.
That's the whole point of my posts, because i was making fun of it.
And not because i want more boobies and this and that.
It's because they did it rong.

On-topic: The key to a good romance scene is it's meaning. There has to be a connection between the two in order for it to be good. That's what happened in ME1. In ME2, some of the scenes, especially Miranda's, had no meaning, no conversation, just sex.
In the Mass Effect series, romance is best used to strenghen the emotional bond between two people, to give it better taste. The fact that Mass Effect is based on conversation makes it important that the player feel a meaning, a reason for why you are having a romance scene with a particular character.
In ME3, I hope that the romance scenes are a hybrid between ME1 emotional side ME2 uniquness.

So when you have scenes that suddenly fade to black that cheapens that whole immersion experience and it reminds me that for all of BW's claims of listening to the players... well the general consensus is we want tasteful romance scenes in ME3. I mean that is across the board. We'll see who BW really listens to in that regard when ME3 is released.

Too many kids are playing M-rated games because their parents either don't know what's in the game or don't care. The ones that do care blow up when they see their child playing something and then see a love scene like in ME1 and freak out. The parent buys the game for the child and because the parent is clearly over the suggested age the person behind the counter sells the product without question. The child likely knows what he/she is getting into and the parent clueless. Also, there is the language. Some m-rated games may not have much language in the game but they might be playing online and hear someone saying God-knows-what.
So yes, I agree the M-rating should be re-evaluated. But ultimately the system has failed as it is just seen as a "guide" to be viewed or ignored.
The problem is they never use the T rating. Half of the games that are M should be T.

Issue stories on games are to scare parents to not buy said game for their child they're not issued to scare away adults from buying the game themselves for their own enjoyment. So these drama reports should be ignored if you are the latter. Parents need to know what games their child is into and research it themselves they can even use youtube to see actual gameplay so they have no excuse to not know what their kid wants them to buy. They also need to play the game themselves and see if cutting people in half might be too gruesome for their 8 year old to witness. They also need to be their own rating system (ESRB) all that panel is are randomly picked people who are shown the game, play it a bit, and then decide does it get an E or M? You as parents of little gamers can do the same. Play the game in full sit down with your entire family or spouse and say here is what this game contains and do we feel our children are capable of understanding these concepts and should they be exposed to them? If the answer is no it gets locked away from them. In my house we also do red stickers that the children know is a do not play or touch unless they want punishment games. If we feel a game is acceptable then it is labeled green and placed in an easy to find space for them as they age these games will be reevaluated for them sure it's work but if you care about the kids in your home you will do it for them they get to play cool games and you get the piece of mind knowing just what exactly they're getting exposed to while playing. Ok my soapbox has been taken down wow I sounded like an ad there!
And i like aeetos21 post.

But really, you don't need any nudity at all to show a good romance scene. You should be focusing on the dialog and not BOOBIES! ASS! BOOBIES AND ASS!
Sex for the sake of it is not what people are calling for. Sex scenes are used to move the plot forward or show character connections and relations just like in books. If neither of these is why the sex is being shown then it is useless, meaningless, and should’ve been skipped. In ME the scene visually showed the emotional and physical connection between the two parties. In ME2 it was only emotional connection. I feel ME did a better job physically seeing a tasteful character connection scene is better then how 2 was nearly pure emotional. Let’s see a bad sex scene was used in Eyes Wide Shut going to the masquerade party that was pure porn in my opinion and should’ve been completely cut there was not showing character connection sense the main character was having nothing to do with it and there was no plot evolving moment for it either (As I was completely pinching the bridge of my nose and asking why in my mind) I think he just needed to find someone well the scene could’ve been written were he found so and so in the park not there that would be an example of unnecessary and meaningless sex.
EDIT: My soap box was a lie! Well now I mean it it's down down and taken apart for good measure! Also fflamingmoe thanks

Will hopefully be a beautiful cinematic of two people who love each other coming together like in the first game and not lame like the second game or Dragon Age: Origins.
What's everyone else hoping from the sex scene in ME3?
Sex dude, that's what everyone expects (nudity and 18+ content)----Well, at least sex without clothes on.
At least that's what i expect...how was that in God Of War you saw boobs everywhere?
Why in mass effect no? for what i know, ME is rated M (ESRB) and 18+ on PEGI ...
Everyone older than a 18 years old dude has already seen porn ...
What i say is true, for direct as it sounds and maybe perv
Everyone older than 14 has seen porn.
I'm 43, and I haven't even seen myself naked. Some things are just off-limits.
huh? it's a joke, isn't it?
because if is not, no mean to offend or something but...
W-T-F?
go watch some porn man, it's the best **** on this earth

Parents need to take responsibility for their little monsters. Their kids are undisciplined, ungrateful detriments to the human race because their parents let them be. And because those parents don't want to admit that they suck at parenting, they blame the games that they bought for their hellspawn. Those games are often not actually suitable for a child that can't grasp the difference between good and bad behavior, or can't handle complex "adult" situations (by adult, I mean something with actual consequence and depth), and now developers can't take as big of a risk as they could be taking. I'm not saying I want full frontal nudity (not that I would mind ;]) but I want the same tasteful sex scenes I saw in ME1 without parents freaking out about alien sideboob.
No one could have said it better.
