Hi.
I'm in the middle of a quest called 'The Dead Caste'.
I have found some artifact and now the quest journal tells me:

"..It must be entered into the Memories in the Shaperate if the validity of the claim is to be tested."

I figured the Lord Shaper in The Shaperate in Orzammar would know something about this, but apparently he doesn't.

What to do?

Use one of the books (I think it's called memories) in the shaperate, that does the trick, though I don't remember it actually doing anything. (Not that I noticed anyway, there was a legionaire leader outside the assembly chamber, but I think he probably would have been there anyway).
