Hi guys, i am beneath the mountain, through the secret entrance to the temple after finding brother Genitivi,on the urn of sacred ashes quest and have fought through the ash wraiths,reavers,dragonlings,and drake and have met with this father Kolgrim think thats his name,anyway im stuck on the fight with him, he has two cultist reavers with him and also 2 cultist mages in support, my charater is a beserker specialisation,i have morrigan,alistair,and leilanna i have tried loads of different tactics but nothing seems to work and all my characters die really quickly please can someone suggest an easy way to beat this fight scenario? thanks a lot in advance,oh btw im on easy difficulty(----which i know may make some people scoff------)  :innocent:

Is this the first time you meet him? He is a lot easier to fight after you get the ashes.

Hi yes this is my first encounter with him, how do i get the ashes before i meet him? that would be good if i could do that please let me know and thanks for the reply.

If Lelianna has scattershot, then have her scattershot the nearest bad guy. Then she starts shooting the mages. Alistair buffs up before the fight then taunts, targeting Kolgrim. Morrigan hexes Kolgrim then cone of colds the fighters. If she is in melee range, mind blast will buy Alistair time. Your berserker should target the mages. They go down one after the other. Lelianna should be shooting the same mage you are fighting.

You need to let him think you are going to defile the ashes. Then when you come back, he realizes you double-crossed him, he will attack. This time he will have a much less formidable team with him.



As to tactics, have Morrigan cast misdirection and or death hex. Any CC works (war cry, holy smite, scattershot) well to keep his goons off you.

I'd tank Kolgrim, beserker the infantry, and double team the mages with Leliana and Morrigan. If you have enough poultices to keep your melee guys alive that should do it.

I beat him first-time as well. Take out the mages asap (Mana clash, I also like Petrify + Stonefist), use Leli with arrows of slaying she can easily one-shot minions.



After the mages are gonna, the rest of the fight with some decent crowd control and heal spells/pots should be Ok.



If you're having this much trouble with this fight, there's one coming up in a bit (optional) which will not be fun at all for you...

Yes, as with a lot of fights, taking out the mages quickly seems to be the key.

Irc last time I did this I had Wynne cast Crushing Prison on one mage immediately while my DW warrior stunned the other with riposte (a shield warrior could use shield bash, a 2H warrior pommel strike) - at the same time Leliana scattershotted Kolgrim's little group. Holy Smite is also very handy vs mages, but unfortunately didn't have that at the time.

Does Morrigan have Force Field? If so, have her FF Kolgrim and then kill the mages dead. After that you can clean up the mob until Kolgrim breaks out and it should be much easier to proceed from there.

I use the same strategy on other boss fights and revenants.
