Can someone please explain the skill trees and specialisation thingymabobbies becuase the German article really confuzzled me. Does each character have a unique skill tree and are the specialisations only for Hawke. Like, could I make Bethany a blood mage for example??? I know each companion has their own skill tree name like Swashbuckler for Isabela or something, but could only Hawke be a blood mage or force mage or whatever?

I think only Hawke can pick the specialisations, but I'm not 100%. It makes sense that that is the case, considering having Isabela as a Duelist/Swashbuckler whatever and then training her as (for example) a Bard would be a little weird.

Rogues have the rogue, DW, and archery skill trees
Warriors have the TH and SB trees
Mages have the schools

Each companion has their own, unique specialization that only they can use

Each class has three specializations that only Hawke can use. For example, blood mage, force mage, and spirit healer for mage Hawke.

Also, some companions don't have some trees. Isabela, that uses only daggers, don't have the archery tree.

Right, right. Companions are more restricted than Hawke. In exchange, they get fixed clothing.

Of course, some people would say that's losing something good and wining something horrible. But who knows.

What I tell you three times is true.

the only thing i'd like the companions to have right now would be multiple outfits exclusive to their models like in rogue galaxy where we had 3 to 4 outfits per character but ah well...

i do like that they're more restricted to a specific fighting style though, it makes me choose a character for any given situation rather than calculating builds for all of them.

I can't agree that more and more restrictions on customization is good. Less customization is less. Less is not more. Less customization is bad. More customization is good.

Why aren't you grumpy? I think it's just trying to say this is the character, love him/her.

Fixed clothing doesn't mean they can't change them, it means they won't be able to wear what Hawke wears. We see Aveline in both armor and her unique leathery thing. They will be restricted to characters tho, like Morrigan's clothes.

Me thinks.

ive sort of viewed the companions unique specs as something similar to mass effect 2. Like how jacks spec was similar (not the same) to sheps vanguard for example.

I feel the same way about companions in DA2.I'm not disappointed at all with the new change about the outfits and specialities.

I like that companions have their own unique fighting styles and twists. I always found it strange that Sten fought exactly like Alistair, who fought exactly like Oghren, even though they're from vastly different backgrounds and training.

I guess that would make me 'some people.' :bandit:

By the end of Witch Hunt, the amount of specs you could have was getting quite ridiculous, but I'm not sure limiting them only to your main would do any good. But then again, every character is getting their own special tree...
