Module released at a bad time?

My point was, and remains, that pessimism is best viewed when things are already truly dire, not as a mean to make them so. In seeing it when folks read, it doesn't matter if you think it says anything about them, because it's THEIR perception that matters during promotion of anything. If you unknowingly come across as pessimistic or down on yourself, you're inviting others to do the same. Not in a physical sense, but in a sense of avoidance.
Harsh words, critical comments, self disparaging statements (not always,) as methods to self examine are best left unpublished. What you present to the public is a shiny happy face full of enthusiasm and "Gee Whiz~! Ain't Life Great? Play my game and Life Will Be BETTER!"
That's all I was really getting at. And of course, you asked. It worked for my friend, Mel and I am sure it makes a difference, even if you (and others) don't see it.
Then again, I admit I could be wrong here. It's just that the effort of the change is so small that any gain is a win that comes of it.
As to my great grandfather x1000, I consider that my genetic forebears were those who were charged with making sure all the others could sleep undisturbed by staying awake at night and tending the fire. We kept ourselves awake by telling stories, making jokes and coming up with plans to deal with things while the rest of the tribe continued to snore, mate and scratch themselves in the dark of night.
And they call me strange. Sheesh.

Kaedrin is an override. Most of the 2da that you will have conflict with will be in the folder cmi_common.
To make it work you will need to manually merge the your custom 2da and kaedrin's 2da into a new one.
Once that is done use that new 2da in your hak. I haven't looked at your setup, but if you are using an Islander specific Hak place it there, if you are also using the original armor hak just make sure your's is above it in priority.

And what is in Kaedrin then that is so critical? The AI thing is all I really liked, that to me is a lot more critical than a bunch of fluff.

Won't be working with the next one like the default NWN2 campaign, but still got plenty of fixed spells/bugs and new feature everywhere.
That's how it's going to be for the BGR remake, the lastest kaedrin release will be a part of BGR, no need to download it or do anithing to the override folder, it will be a part of the mod.
When I need to alter some spell to have them working like it was in BG1, mainly beceause of harder rules, I am working from the kaedrin spell if it exist wich has many things fixed.

If it's just a baseitems.2da which is conflicting, and you are stripping items anyway, it might just work by itself (though if the player enters with items the game doesn't understand, it might get upset). Obviously you need to do things with module scripts to make it compatible, but there's no reason to integrate the whole thing unless you want NPCs to use the new classes and things - otherwise you are essentially forcing people to use Kaedrin's, and depending on how you work it, you're probably making people who do use it already download all the stuff twice. Not to mention compatibility with later updates Kaedrin releases.

AFAIK, haks always take priority over the override (at least, that's what the NWN2 wiki says). I think the override *may* take precedence over the campaign folder, though, I'm not sure.
I have always been under the impression that this is not how it is. The override folder take priority over anything else. It "overrides" stuff. This is what makes it useful for quick testing and shouldn't be used for regular playing. AFAIK the order is 1) override 2) campaign 3) hak.

If I as the developer want to be compatible with Kaedrin's then because he changes the same scripts I do I have to modify my scripts to merge in his modifications (the problem with this is that his code is a moving target, so each time he releases a new version I would have to recode and retest). But then the player will also need to uninstall Kaedrin's version when playing my mod and then reinstall when playing a different mod or the OC because otherwise Kaedrin's versions will still override mine. It is a no-win situation for the developers and the players both.

I dont even think it is what I thought anyway. Adding a bunch of classes is the last thing I want to do as it is I dont understand/ever use several of the so called "core" ones, so since there is no easy cure I will let this one slide on by. If people would rather have a nice addon and nowhere to use it they can be my guest. Eventually they will run out of modules and come back to the ones the passed up.
I do like that weapon switching stuff though I hope that is compatible.
Downloads seem to still be a steady trickle of 5 to 10 a day so I can't complain other than the lack of that first big splash which for me was a pathetic 30 or 40.

If people will eventually play your module, EE, then don't worry about initial download count. Maybe they will give you a dose of your own medicine and conclude that when module builders run out of downloads then module builders will include Kaedrin's.

I just finished running a test with a 2da in a hak and the same but missing stuff 2da in the override. HAK won.
So with kaedrin stuff as long as you include his content in your 2das and scripts you can place them into a HAK and still use kaedrin. With updates there will still could be issues.
This is also how I believe Wyrin made WPM compatible with kaedrin's content.

I have people in this thread telling me they passed over my module because its high magic, and I'm supposed to support 300 classes with enough magic items so they all get their share? Must be nice sitting there in the throne issuing demands.
And the next person wants it to have createable cohorts, and the next person wants developed companions.
I don't mind people saying I don't like this, I don't normally go for that. But if someone wants to write off an experience because it doesnt meet some haughty list of requirements, I'm not chasing them down. It's their lost. I played a lot of campaigns that went against some of my preferences, such as Live Forever, and it ended up being one of my favourite experiences.
I've said myself I don't like certain types of things in a game, but I've never stricken anything from a list for any such reason.

Download that to your override, then Install Islander and you are good to go.
You can ignore my warning about emptying override for this particular addon, as it is 100% approved and compatible. And like I said GOOD TO GO.

Personally, I prefer if a module is compatible with Kaedrin's or whatever other mods, obviously, and I'd like that every module was compatible, but if one isn't, that doesn't keep me from downloading it. Most of the modules I've played, I've played them without it anyway. It's nice, but not a necessity IMO. There are more important things for a module to be good or successful.
BTW, have you noticed that this thread have had, in one single day, more replies than your module thread in a month? Maybe this will increase the downloads, after all.

Bert your comment doesnt even make sense. I specifically dont support certain classes in Islander and I'm not rewriting the game based on some random (theoretical) person's insistence on 1 specific system, when the system opposes what I was trying to do with the game.

I don't remember mention of unsupported classes in Islander. What do you mean by unsupported? Your comment came across to me as a statement of preference as to how you like to play. It did not sound like a coherent design decision, which I wouldn't have a problem with per se. I wouldn't suggest adding Kaedrin's class Pack to a d20 modern project, for instance.
Incidentally, that nudty pack, she's too hard body for my tastes.

That said for those that are watching and deciding to download... there is a scene where one of the female leads is in the bath tub.
Not even joking. M Reider and anyone else who has played can vouch.

I completely agree that as the author it is your call on what features to include and what not to. The important things is to state them so that players know what to expect and don't go out of your way to prevent them from playing the way they want.
For example, my Makeover mod and King's Festival are not compatible with Kaedrin's stuff. In order to be compatible I would have to incorporate a version of his mod into mine. That might eliminate some complaints but it would create others, increase the testing required, and result in wasting time looking for bugs in my code that are caused by Kaedrin's or someone who has a different version of Kaedrin's in their override. I sympathize with those who only like to play some prestige class I've never heard of. But I don't think that is a good enough reason to go to all that trouble. If it was easy to to, I would do it, but it is not. So I won't. I understand that means I will continuously get comments from people like "I would play this if only it were compatible with Kaedrin's", "Is this compatible with Kaedrin's?", and the most recent "I'm rating this 1.0 because it isn't compatible with Kaedrin's". Well, too bad. Their loss. Am I bitter? Yeah, maybe. But you can't please everyone all the time. So my advice to you and me both is mod as you see fit and quit watching the download counter. And maybe even quit reading the comments. (I won't, but sometimes I'm really tempted.)
The thing is that the whiners don't seem to realize that whining to the people creating the content is only going to result in less content for all of us and fewer experts to direct questions to.
Chin up.
