firends, let us not forget our friend the taco, as for without it, we would truly have more to argue about.
and since we have our good friend the taco, all we really have to worry about is the type of shell we use.
corn or soft yellow or blue..... ground beef, turkey, shredded steak
nothing wrong with conent not compattible with Kaedrin's hak, nothing wrong with it either

Incidentally, Kaldor has a good point that we could all learn from NWN2 as an example, expectations count. The point I, and practically everyone else, was trying to make is that what you communicate works to make an expectation in the audiences mind.
You've found your niche, EE, animae nudity conniseurs. Hmm, so is Islander like this?

Maybe this?

No but seriously if it takes 10 votes to get on the top 15 sidebar, I strongly encourage some fellow forum regulars to try my game and and vote as you see fit (im 4 short).
People arent kidding... 6 votes in like 400 downloads. My 3 person test group only resulted in 1 vote even. Some people even commented but didnt vote.
As for the boob issue.... all the women in Islander have them. Can you see the top of the mountains though? Downloading answers that

Unless you do better (some do), or my math is wrong, expect around 2.5% of dowmloads to become votes. IIRC serene got to around 6% as is Maimed god at the moment but most mods hit on around 2 - 3%.
Sheep and stone - d/l = 1301 33 votes = 2.54%
Caravan Club - d/l = 850 26 votes = 3%
Maimed god - d/l = 1500 94 votes = 6.3%
Trinity - d/l = 3900 74 votes = 1.9%
Risen hero - d/l 830 22 votes = 2.6%
TWA1 d/l - 1074 18 votes = 1.7%
Live forever d/l - 3250 55 votes = 1.7%
White plume d/l - 750 19 votes = 2.53%
Edinmoor d/l - 582 13 votes = 2.2%
Perhaps if you use more mods the numbers will look different but I expect votes to be around 2.5% for my mods, and that seems to be what you have. Did you get a reply from BTP, that time spent in the new 5 is important. As I said before, and you yourself note you are at risk of entering a limbo between 10 votes and leaving the new mods list. I don't know for sure but I suspect that will slow things down.
I would like to see the rules change on this, perhaps reducing the number of votes needed to get on the main listing to reflect the smaller download community we have? Perhaps also reducing the number for hall of fame? I personally feel less strongly about that. Right now mods are still passing to HOF so it is possible to get to 5000 but its a loooong haul. The main advantage I can see to lowering it, is that it would get some more movement in the top 15 if HOF was lowered to say 3000, that might showcase and help some of the 8+ mods.

The one person corrected their entry but they cant delete it. How stupid is that you cant delete your own entries even though you can empty them?
So ya thinks are gonna get a little tense when you need 100 downloads to get 2 votes and you got all of 3 weeks before some erroneous upload bumps you off a 5 item list. I gotta admit not feeling a lot of amour-ay as a builder these days.
What happens if u leave the new (5 entry list) without 10 votes, but then get 10? do you join the 15 if your mark is higher?

I don't agree with the other two comments, they're a bit stupid, but this one:Kaldor Silverwand wrote...
I understand that means I will continuously get comments from people like "I would play this if only it were compatible with Kaedrin's", "Is this compatible with Kaedrin's?", and the most recent "I'm rating this 1.0 because it isn't compatible with Kaedrin's".
"Is this compatible with Kaedrin's?"
Doesn't necessarily mean that people won't download the module if the answer is negative. I've asked that sometimes, and I did because I didn't know which files were the conflicting ones, or what was needed for modules to be compatible. I'm talking about me of course, I don't know about others' motivations.
In other news, after all this talking, I've decided to download Islander once and for all.

EE, I have been an advicate for creating a game that the modder wants to make. Compared to players there is only a small number of builders. The games we are creating should be unique and each offer something different. If we all followed the same recipie demanded by a small, but often vocal (and occasionally hostile) minority this game would die out. It is each builders unique ideas, tweaks and changes that make NWN2 what it is.
I am also going to repeat what was said about the counter. Don't watch it. It doesn't make any sense. When you said I had 1000 download, that was news to me. But that 1000 is for a single file. The music, tlk and override. I have no clue why that number is almost 400 downloads higher than the module file. Instead look at your votes and more importantly your comments. Those will tell you how the game is recieved. Looking through you stats, those who did vote gave you positive comments, so congratuations to you. Though it may be fustrating looking at the timeline, just keep pushing your module.
I can't speak for anyone one else but with building it was more the creation of the story that interest me. My goal was to create a game that I liked and hopefully other people would enjoy it.

What I think we should make more publicised, though, is this thing someone was saying a while back about having a second NWN2 directory. It's kinda like making a second install of BG was, only easier and cleaner. Basically you make a new NWN2 directory like the one in My Documents, or wherever it is, then you can run the game using the custom content in there. So, you could have a new directory for each campaign you download. Of course, you probably don't want to do this, but you could have a Kaedrin's and a non-Kaedrin's directory. Then, non-Kaedrin mods can be installed without you having to remove Kaedrin's and without you worrying about them not playing nice with each other. I haven't actually tried this myself yet, however.

No, EE, you don't understand. POE was approved. It was posted on the vault. People were able to view the page. But the files were not available for download until days later.
Which is exactly what happened with Islander as well.

The easier solution is to have a shortcut to the override and override BAK so the folders can be easily moved in and out opposed to having to having multiple directories.

One is for Islander, so when anyone has an issue, i rename that to nwn2 (not nwn2 - isl) and play and find the bug.
And one is for any new campaign I play.
You know something I haven't mentioned regarding my release. Remember I had to redo my whole launch 2 days in because I had to create a new submission for it to show in top 5 (original I just edited the demo file). So there were perhaps a group who had checked either one for a few days saw it was empty and skipped on.
Anyway I don't watch the counter; I'm not an obsessive type like that. What i DO do is as has been said, check for any distress calls in the comments a couple times a day. Most people have been emailing which is ideal but there were a couple early ones posting in comments. When you check comments you go past the downloads. So far it is +5 since the boobies.

Don't Let Your Children (or Lonely Husbands) Download Islander!
Yes, that's right, I said DON'T download it! It's got nearly nekkid wimmin and it's going to tease and titillate your menfolk, ladies. Don't let 'em do it!
The latest editorial from the Vocal Minority of Moral Rightness agrees:
This module will excite men to a level of lustful wistfulness not seen since Laura Croft raided her first Tomb! So, please, don't download or even LOOK at this module!
It worked for movies like:
Apocalypse Now (for graphic violence)
The Last Temptation of Christ
The Passion of the Christ
The Pope Must Die (which got changed to Diet, how silly is that?)
and it seems that when someone starts screaming too much violence and sexual gratuitous-ness, the sales just BAM! went right through the roof! Everyone now was sure there was something to see that they shouldn't. Nothing says, Watch Me! like forbidden fruit.

dunniteowl

I haven't downloaded and played Islander because the name is terrible and doesn't evoke any measure of heroic fantasy. I recommend including the subtitle in the entry name. That would have peaked my interest more than just "Islander".
Given limited time and the choice between the three campaigns you mentioned, the other two simply sound more appealing. I'm sure I'll eventually get to your creation. Anyway, just a suggestion.

A few have mentioned it starts out slow. It's supposed to. It's 15 to 30 minutes of adjusting to your surroundings. Then you get to do some interesting quests. You gain some small power and magic items. The next thing you know, you are strapped into a ride you cannot and will not get off.
You've never seen variety like this.
You've never seen a party roster like this.
You've never seen a final encounter like this.
You've never been so wrong about your own character's true nature.
