But we got pseudo-Frogger in place of quasi-Simon Says!  And an extra paragraph of text snarking about Fox news in the BDtS radio station hut!  And a broken Garrus face texture....wait.

My only reaction to this is that the Terminus Armor and Blackstorm gun were not available for ALL 360/PC players at launch, whereas they are available for ALL PS3 players regardless of where they purchased the game.

On the other hand, the collector armor and rifle were available to all PC and Xbox 360 owners and PS3 users can't have it.

The fact is the PC version was not given preferencial treatment just because we got Mass Effect 1 late.  We didn't get exclusive content to "compensate" us and nor would I be happy if we had.  I firmly believe all platforms should be treated equally when it is a multi platform game.

Actually we did get the BDtS DLC for free. ;)

I don't think it's such a big
deal (at least to me) because I think that armor and weapon kinda sucks
compared to what downloadable weapons and armor I already have, like the
Kestrel armor and Arc Projector.

But hey, if it improves sales, that's great.

Yeah, I agree. The Terminus gear isn't bad, but I do find other DLC weapons and armour better/preferable, from a gameplay standpoint.

Still are if you buy the Digital Deluxe Edition.  You can still buy hard copy versions, but they've gone way up in price.

It was available to all 360/PC players who wanted to fork out an extra $10 for the CE. It's a bit of a different circumstance.

Are you trying to say that Garrus' super low resolution face right next to high resolution armor textures was not a stunning innovation?

Well, guess what, a lot of people did pay full price for Mass Effect 2 when it was released. That version had less content then the PS3 version at release. I don't care the DLC is included in the PS3 version, but don't make it out like I payed less when in fact I payed more.

There is a common argument made at this point about how you pay for games to play it now. I knew full well that Mass Effect 2 would drop in price if I waited long enough. I chose to pay full price for it anyway so that I could play it on the day it was released.

For Dragon Age: Origins, however, I waited for the Ultimate Edition which came with all the DLC bundled together. If I had bought the game new and purchased the DLC as they were released, I imagine the final price tag would have been over $100. Because I waited, I paid $49.95.

Now, I know Dragon Age fans were not happy about the bundled package either, but I don't understand why as there is a long history of games that get reduced prices and bundled with their expansions as the months roll by. I similarly do not understand the outrage focused on the PS3 users. Roll the dice and take your chances and wait for another edition to come out that's bundled with extras.

just hope ME2 comes with a bundle of sorts like FALLOUT 3 did. Witha  nice extra cd with all the dlc content. So you can choose how and where to download it. I want to pass some DLC's and not others. But not because they are there and I ignore em but because they were never available to see how ME3 picks that up.

Now Bioware shut the other thread without bothering to respond. They don't know how to handle a community at all...they could've tried sorting out the issue, but instead they try ignoring it.

There is nothing to "sort" You had the chance to get it. Now new customers on the PS3 have the same chance. Bioware has the right to do as they please with their property without the consent of a bunch of fans throwing a hissy fit.

I think you are missing the "chance" part. PS3 users will be able to get it forever. It will be on the PSN until the PSN shuts down. 360 and PC users had no option like that. It was a pre order bonus so people picked which one they liked. There were several versions of the game that were coming out. If you wanted every item you'd have to buy the game twice like I had to. Now there is no Collector's Edition for the PS3. They just get the Collector Weapon and Armor for just buying the game. Now they get this DLC that will be sitting in the PS3 store forever.

Sparda hit the nail on the head.  The Terminus armor and weapon was a preorder bonus for Gamestop and that's it.  Here with the PS3 it will be available as normal DLC (free until release date, then paid DLC).  I personally would not mind if this became a paid DLC for Xbox 360/PC users as well.  Then everybody's happy.

PS3 users had to pay by far the most for Awakening...at least £5-£10 more as it wasn't available on disk only via a PSN download. Xbox had it much cheaper. I paid full price for all of the DAO content.

I think it's time us PS3 guys were thrown a carrot.

I think it's cool and fair that the PS3 players have access to the armor+weapon.

I would buy a DLC containing these items for the PC though. So maybe it might be a good idea to consider doing that.

Not in the US.  I've got a copy not 10 feet away.

I want ps3 players to have access to all content... as long as they have to pay what I had to pay for them. 60 or the game without any dlc.

This is all so silly!!

Surely BioWare have stats on how many players actually use heavy weapons and/or how often they use them.

I'm assuming that once the average player has played ME2 enough, they will become proficient enough with the myriad other weapons and skills available to them, that heavy weapons (apart from maybe the Collector Particle Beam) will be all but useless.

I've played ME2 at least a dozen times through, and in that time I've fired the Cain about 4 times - mainly to see what it was like. As has been said before, heavy weapon ammo is very rare - as are the opportunities that players might actually need to use it.

I'd want the Terminus gear for completion's sake, but the benefits imparted by modular armour and the skillful use of other weapons and abilities, outweigh any practical use for it on a 'real man's' difficulty level. :P

As for 360/PC users being left out in the cold, well that's just the way it is. The company I work for regularly offers incentives to entice new customers into the fold. It's just the nature of the beast when you're in business. I've said one or two (or a few things) against BioWare in the past (even quite recently), but you have to cut them some slack - they're trying to push an old product into a new market. Not an easy feat for the best of companies.

Time and life move on, and eventually people relegate little blips like this to the 'I don't actually care' basket. Heck - I did about 10 minutes after reading the first news item on this. :P

Well, I tend to use the Cain. Once per playthrough. And that's it. I've the Blackstorm since release, and I used it two or three times, just to try it. Never found a use for it - or any heavy weapon for that matter, besides the mentioned Cain against the Colossus in Tali's mission. And that's it - I rather take the 100 credits for collecting heavy weapon ammo, that using them, they are all but pointless fluff.

The ps3 version needs an exclusive armor.

The PC and Xbox user had a chance at the collector armor and we didn't.

How about no? Mass Effect 2 is still a year old. PS3 users won't pay the same price for the same package you bought a year ago.

Wake up.

I have no problem with Bioware offering incentives, tell me has your company ever refused to sell your products to existing customers just to attract new ones ?  I don't have any issue with the Terminus gear and Blackstorm gun being offered to PS3 users for free.  I do have an issue with the fact Bioware are refusing to sell this product to existing customers.

Now I find that incredibly stupid business wise when you have existing customers offering you money for something but you are turning them down just to attract "new customers" that are going to get the content for free anyway.

No one is asking that they give PC/360 users the Terminus armour and gun away free.  They are just asking that Bioware makes this content available to existing customers so they can purchase it.

Oh and I don't see why we should cut Bioware any slack after all this is all of Bioware's doing.  It was Bioware that instigated a crappy exclusivity deal with Microsoft and it is Bioware now trying to wriggle out doing a pretty good job of screwing it all up in the process.

I hear you - 100%.  Unfortunately BioWare will also be under pressure to get a decent return on the investment that has been poured into bringing the game to PS3.   Giving the goodies to 360/PC players will create bad vibes in their new market.

Yeah. Actually that'd be EA, since they're the one publishing ME2 (and ME3, of course). Just saying...

True. However they do still have their own roles, whith the publisher doing the publishing, and the developer... But anyway, that was just me splitting hairs. :P
