Already finished? Why would they wait a year from now to release it and not a a Spring or Fall release....I would be very skeptical about this.

Batman: Arkham City has been done for months now (meaning you can play it start to finish) but it is being released next fall.

so the idea doesn't seem farfetched.

I'm not sure if I believe this, but its better than hearing a rumor that its crap.

Considering the game is shipping in Q4 2011, the modified ME2 engine is already operational on all platforms and we already know that Bioware is happy with the core gameplay and mechanics of ME2, this should not be unbelievable or shocking to anybody. Having a playable game from start to finish doesn't mean nothing will change, almost certainly several things will change before it goes gold. But it does mean that the game is likely on track for its intended release.

I hesitate to believe that the gameplay would "drop jaws" but that's kind of subjective and I could believe that it might amaze some people, I just don't think it will amaze me.

Well, all we gotta do is wait for a BW employee to comment...

I wonder how ME3's gameplay could make my jaw drop.

True, for instance.... *spoilers*

Fighting outside the Citadel Tower with Sovereign in the background was freaking incredible to me :wizard:

Well, it's a figure of speech, but if it's true that there will be some gameplay sequences with enormous Reapers rendered in-engine battling in the background, that would be amazing, to me at least.

I guess you're right... I seriously hope the Reapers won't disappoint as villains in the final battle.

Wonder how we'll defeat them too. And I guess this almost guarantees a 2011 release which is great.

Yea, well Bioware's always met their release dates, so I'm fairly positive it will come out this year.

Frankly, I don't believe it at all. Like, not even remotely.

That's ok, you don't have to. Anybody who claims they work with a game company has to prove it in order to be given that title on forums like NeoGAF and Gamefaqs, etc, so I believe it.

NeoGAF users are notorious for ripping apart fakes. I'm almost positive he's for real.

Almost only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.

Personally, I believe him. I know how NeoGAF forums work.

I could have sworn mass effect 1 was delayed.

They usually are. KotOR was, Jade Empire was, ME1 was, DAO got a massive delay on the PC version, etc. ME2 was actually a rare case where it actually came out on time and was never delayed at all, and funnily enough it felt like it could have done with some more time in the oven too.

ME2 was perfect in my opinion.

Anyway, ME1 was Bioware's first foray into the 360, and it was a new engine for them to work with. They already said the engine and core gameplay mechanics are just where they want them for ME3. I think it was even Jesse Houston or another dev on here who himself said "You can expect by the third game in a trilogy, the developers have gotten better at making said game."

Casey also said they don't have to worry about continuity into a 4th Mass Effect, so all that frees up a ton of time. There's a very slim chance it'll be delayed.

Would be nice if it's true. I know nothing about the site, so I won't make any claims either way. I just hope that if it is true, it means we'll be getting a peep show sooner then I thought.

Forgive my cynicism Shinobi, but this is the internet after all. ;)

I'm sure ME3's gameplay will be awesome, but I think I'll wait until we get some official hands-on previews and gameplay footage, which we're likely to get for the E3 and/or Games Convention (Germany) at the latest.

That's ok, you guys are free to believe what you want :)

All I'm saying is, I know how VIPs work on forums like NeoGAF and GameFAQS, so if anyone asked me, I would say yes, this person is genuine.

I hope the guy doesn't get in trouble for revealing these informations.

Knowing GAF I think what he says can be trusted, obviously he's a PR so we'll have to wait and see about jaws dropped and the like.

For everyone that is worried about the whole time thing in regards to release date....think about this as well.

Engine=Done

No more loyalty missions/amount of squadmates (lets be real here...they won't copy themselves)

More than likely a story like the first game....less character variables and more plot arc variables = easier on a widescale basis. Character variables were really hard to keep track of I'm sure. Also too, the second game had to stay on track for the third and not spiral out of control. With a character driven story, and 12 characters at that, you can only imagine the length of time it would take to complete.

Plus, no worry of continuing the story....AND, their department had people working on the third while we were playing the second....

No worries guys.

Also, like a month after ME2 released, Bioware said the ME3 script was already completed.

And what about people who killed off the majority of their squad in ME2?  They're going to fight the Reapers with 2 people?  And people who saved everyone will have those two as well?

I have a feeling ME3 is going to be the RotJ of the ME franchise.  It's going to tie everything together and give you a good feeling when it's over but when the dust settles, it will be the worst of the bunch.

Yeah, I've seen/heard people claim, "I am this person" or "I know this person" or the usual, "I've heard this person say" so I take it with the biggest grain of salt in the history of salt.

I never believed it either, until a few months ago at another site when one of those people was completely right.

In the past year or so, a lot of these "rumors" have ended up true.

Are you serious? If this is true, then I think I am starting to believe your earlier claims a lot more, because truth be told i was pretty skeptical at first, but hey you made some pretty convincing arguments....now my anticipation for ME3 is even higher lol damn you:(
