Yes, I can't find it after searching for it right now, but I'm telling you 100% I read that. One of the guys at Bioware, it was either Ray Muzyka or Greg Zeschuk said it. They said the script for ME3 was already completed, and I'm not 100% sure when they said this, but I remember it was shortly after ME2 came out.

Jaw-dropping gameplay? Sick.

My biggest fear with ME3 is that the Bioware will take the lazy route and the gameplay will be the same as Mass Effect 2. Thats not a "bad" thing, but I really want ME3 to be as big of a leap in the series as ME2 was to ME1.

They will flat out deny even true rumors. I don't think it will help if they drop by now

Just reassure us that there will be returning squad members, if not then tell us that too.

They will neither deny nor confirm rumours. Unless the rumour is untrue, damaging, credible and widely enough believed to cause problems. Then they might deny it. I highly doubt we will get any comment on this.

Well I really do hope the game is finished as they said. That'll leave loads of time for polishing. I want them to polish it so much i go blind from the awesomeness.

As evidence of this, like 3 posts in this thread have already been edited by moderators.  So this thread has their attention.

...But to be honest, what is there to confirm or deny?  The supposed employee backed down from the returning squad members really quickly, so in a way no new information there.

"Playable," and "Finished," are completely different things.  "Playable," means that it might be buggy, unbalanced, unpolished, poorly rendered, etc, but you could technically sit down and play a mass effect game already.  I am not suprised that the game is already "playable," if it's supposed to come out in a few months.  I don't think there's much to confirm or deny there either.

Yea, well Bioware's always met their release dates, so I'm fairly positive it will come out this year.

I could have sworn mass effect 1 was delayed.

So was ME2 right? Wasn't it originally slated for a December release?

I concur with the above statement. It is in fact true. I believe it was December when they had said the writers were drafting the script, and not long after that they said it was done.

PR people are masters of hyperbole :points@self:

I wouldn't doubt things such as script, engine, prelimary/mid-stage level design being complete, as many of these things need to be laid out long, long in advance of a game's release... we also know BW's been working on the ME trilogy non-stop, in some form or another, since the beginning of ME1's development, which means the rate of production/development should be at its highest now, if you look at the thing as a single, multi-stage project.

I would doubt any comments relating to the actual polish and gameplay of the finished product. I'm sure developers (esp. BW) will take as much time as possible to tweak and refine the basic product, which would include beta testing and so forth. I would highly doubt ME3, in whatever form it may or may not be in now, will have much bearing on what we see in the end.

Anyway, if ME3 is really coming along as well as this rumor says it is, then I hope it means we will see a steady flow of high quality dlc to come, both for ME2 and ME3 to come - hopefully for free too!

I'm divided on this, if it were true. On one hand if the gameplay side of things is mostly done, then it means there's almost a whole year to really polish it and give us a lot of choices and consequences and some real depth narrative/story/character wise. On the other hand, it means that it's more likely that the gameplay isn't terribly deep and we're pretty much gonna get ME2.5. Though it could be possibly that merely the basic combat gameplay over the main story is done because it's basically like ME2 and they're planning on adding more RPG features from here on in.

And just where do you want it to leap to? A Harvest Moon style farming simulation?

To those saying they would rather hear from a BioWare employee, I'm sure you guys know how they roll. They will just flat out deny everything as usual, which is understandable.

As far as I'm concerned, this hardly sounds like a rumor, in which case it's fantastic news. I wonder if that means they're also done with all the voice acting. To me, it sounds like ME3 is fundamentally finished at this point -- assuming this is all true and not rubbish, of course.

Hahahaa!  I needed that laugh.

I think the gameplay was pretty much fine and only needed a few tweaks so I hope that they have spent most of their time on an epic story.  Shepard's story.

As long as they improved the narrow corridor combat for ME3, i'm happy. The "take cover, shoot, run to next cover, shoot" mechanic becomes dull after a while. Just a bit more variety in combat situations would be perfect.

Also, if this is to be believed, how different can ME3 be from ME2 gameplay wise if it is already done? An ME2 clone is not ideal.

This is what I've been predicting all along based on what their mission statement was for ME 2 and what they've replied with in interviews with regards to what they want to add for ME 3. They got the core combat mechanics down in ME 2, now they're just going to RPG it up a bit.

I hope so, the missing RPG element of Mass Effect 2 were annoying.  If it was only me, I would say that Mass Effect 2 could not qualify as an RPG because it's like an action-adventure game.  And taking decision can be found in other games that are specifically not RPGs.  If we are thinking like that, then God Of War 3 is an RPG because you can upgrade your weapons and make some decisions.

The best for Mass Effect 3 is to mix the RPG elements of ME 1 with the gameplay of ME 2 and it will be much better.  We need stats to upgrade, a wider range of abilities to select.  And the return of interrupts in dialogs :-)  That was fun :)

The most importing thing they should work on is the story, ME 2's story was a little weak if we compare to ME 1, the concept was good, but they couldn't deliver it as good as they expected.  That's what happens when you take too much time to make your characters to look badass.  At least there weren't too much stupid one-liners as we hear in mediocre action movie.
