I hate to be a raincloud guys, because I really want squadmates back.
But even if this guy did see an internal reel [which isn't out of the question], even if he SAW a character in the trailer...it could have just been a placeholder for a non-modeled character. For instance. Lets say in ME3 we get a turian squadmember. They're not going to wait to model the character before they work on gameplay- they'd just use Garrus's model for convenience until the new model is ready. If he doesn't work on ME3, I just wouldn't hold "squadmates returning" with any salt. Especially from internal demo reels which are notorious for using placeholders.

Yes, that's a possibility.

I remember one of the early ME2 vids of Illium had an early Ash model used in place of Miranda.

I hope ME3 involves new species like Raloi.

I'm quite sure they will be suprised in the game when they find out the whole galaxy unites to take back Earth.

Back to the topic, I don't believe that Antitype guy. As we know people like to create some informations, legends to be in the centre of interest or to mislead others(why? to have fun). I'm waiting for official BioWare statement on this or at least a leaked gameplay.

How early? When the game was revealed better during E3 '09, Miranda just used a slightly different model.

Regardless of the credibility of the NFS employee's words, one thing I'd like to bring up - he mentioned the in-game rendered reapers... it will be interesting to see if they take any technical inspiration from God of War 3's titan moments - the astonishing scale of that first 45-minute event is something I could see Bioware including - naturally keeping it far, far under wraps. Of course, this is complete speculation... just like the majority of the last 175+ posts. :-P

It was contradicted. Read them again andthan try and tell me that the rumour bringer didn't contradict themselves. Which is why this Topics Title is miss leading.

The Antitype wrote...

Yeah, combat and in-engine cinematics mostly. Some conversations,

nothing that could really be used to establish context. No HUD though,

so I don't know about any mechanical changes.

As for returning squad mates...yes. But I'm not going to say who, cause that's probably off limits.

The Antitype wrote...

Ok, I just want to clarify that no characters were ever addressed by NAME in the trailer.

And since I can't tell one member of an alien race from another member of the same race (see how I don't say which one? ) in the middle of fast-moving action sequences, I'll just say I THOUGHT I recognized some returning characters.

So, sorry if I break hearts or destroy my credibility. I just wanted to make sure I was as honest as possible.

If you held a gun to my head and asked if I thought characters are coming back, based on what I saw, yes.

As you can see the person 'thought' they saw what they 'wanted' to see. Te person even mentions that they can't tell the aliens from each other(I question this choice of words) and than contradictstat by saying that even so the peson still thinks they the characters are coming back.

Pick a side if you're going to spew rumours! The person contradicted themselves for times in just a those two quotes. Where's the back bone on this person? Stick to one story, will'ya? All the person is doing is providing nothing of interest that confirms nothings and only goes to throug more unconfirmed fuel into the fire.

You seem to have an interesting definition of contradiction.

He says that he can't be 100% sure, since the squaddies weren't refered to by names, but he thinks that (the models that were used) were the ones of the ME2 squaddies. This is not contradiction.

Bioware showed some gameplay from ME2 during GDC.  One character in the squad was a blonde lady in Ash's red and white armor. A lot of people even thought it was Ash.

Miranda's model was initially blonde. When they designed the Cerberus uniform, they just changed the hair colour.

This rumor seems plausible because it doesn't really have any info. Christina Norman tweeted about playing " a mass effect game" which was probably ME3. It's good to hear that a mostly playable game is out there - we might get ME3 in November!

Another example of a placeholder is Kasumi. Before she was released, the game used Matsuo from Noveria security.

So it would appear. But the fact remains, no one outside BioWare is a reliable source.

As Fiery said, yes it probably is, but it's only reliable if you don't assume anything further than "The gameplay has been improved, some of the ME2 models that were used for the squaddies have a high probability of having been used for the character models".

No, the source isn't reliable.

Read all of the quotes in the first post and you'll easily lean that the one spreading the rumours has no idea 'what' they really saw. Take it with a grain of salt and move along because this changes nothing. Especially since the rumour monger can't even keep their story straight.

Yeah, the poster is all over the place with what he saw....I'm not totally buying it. Just look at the foundation of his "facts," all...."well, I might have seen this and that....it's finished already...playable....some conversations...blah blah blah, don't know who the characters were....but they might have been returning squadmates...but idk, I can't tell one alien from the other....uhhhh....but hold a gun to my head and YES, in fact, squadmates ARE returning!"

Honestly....the dude is probably making it up to gain more cred....and since it's so ambiguous from start to finish, I doubt it's real. Anyone can make up anything..., or hype people up....just remember that.

I remember it too....it's a scene where Shep, Miranda, and Jacob I believe are approaching the merc in Nassana Dantius' tower.....I think. I know that they were on Illium, and I'm pretty sure it was that mission. But, yeah her character model was different. Same hair and stuff...just different face.

You can see the woman in the heavy red and white armor (Miranda) in the back of the car in the first video. There was another version of the first video that didn't cut the end off which showed Shepard, Tali and Miranda get out of the car.  Miranda had short blonde hair.

There was nothing contradictory at all.

I won't explain again, since I've posted it numerous times in this thread alone, but in summary when it comes to forums like NeoGAF and GameFAQS, if you're an official worker in the games industry, the admins will register you as such when credentials are proven.

Thanks. Knew Miranda was originally blonde, but could never find any footage either. And I wish they'd kept the armor as well, though obviously more unique,

Regarding voice acting, Mark Meer more or less confirmed that they HAVEN'T done any for ME3 yet.

In particular:

Mark Meer (Commander Shepard):  I’m currently home in Canada finishing up recording the latest season of The Irrelevant Show, CBC Radio’s national sketch comedy show, which I write for and perform in. If I may be so bold as to shamelessly plug, The Irrelevant Show is now available as a podcast from CBC and is hilarious. I’ll also be returning for my second season on Caution: May Contain Nuts, a TV sketch show that airs on APTN (we just got the official green light from the network on that this week, actually). I’ll be doing more recording for Bioware on the new Dragon Age game, with the bulk of my Mass Effect 3 voice work waiting in the not-too-distant future. Plus, plenty of improv… I’m currently developing a Dungeons & Dragons-inspired improv show with Rapid Fire Theatre, and continuing to tour with “The Harold of Galactus” (no, that’s not a typo), a superhero comic book-based improv show I created with my friend Chris Craddock. If you know both improv and comics, that title is achingly funny, trust me. I’ll also be in England in January for the annual London Improvathon, a 50-hour long show at Hoxton Hall (January 21-23, 2011), produced by The Sticking Place in co-operation with Ken Campbell’s School of Night and my one of my improv troupes from Edmonton, Die-Nasty. Many of the performers (including me) do the entire weekend without sleep -- it’s quite an experience!

Heh, I have been looking for these footage forever, I didn't know that they were from GDC.

This is interesting, and look at the GDC footage. This is not final voice acting material, hell, this is not even proper voice acting material. It's possible that a text to speech program voiced the cutscenes that the NFS PR saw.

That would mean that Bioware is already at stage 3/5, with 5/5 being the released version. Well, that was quick.

EDIT: Consider that 2/5 doesn't have animations, though this guy said that there are.
