Exactly my thoughts, Phaedon. Probably just "placeholder voices" purely for convenience reasons.

This reminds me of all those times Bioware denied that ME2 was coming the PS3. This isnt about if or why they havent responded.

Yeah, the poster is all over the place with what he saw....I'm not totally buying it. Just look at the foundation of his "facts," all...."well, I might have seen this and that....it's finished already...playable....some conversations...blah blah blah, don't know who the characters were....but they might have been returning squadmates...but idk, I can't tell one alien from the other....uhhhh....but hold a gun to my head and YES, in fact, squadmates ARE returning!"

Honestly....the dude is probably making it up to gain more cred....and since it's so ambiguous from start to finish, I doubt it's real. Anyone can make up anything..., or hype people up....just remember that.

I won't explain again, since I've posted it numerous times in this thread alone, but in summary when it comes to forums like NeoGAF and GameFAQS, if you're an official worker in the games industry, the admins will register you as such when credentials are proven.

Oh, I know this. I've read most of the posts in this thread...I was just saying how his posts were like....not what you'd expect from someone who actually played the game. Super general, vague, and it was almost like he was unsure and yet sure about who was returning. Sorry, but it has a contradictory nature to it. I'm not ruling it out entirely, cause there is always the possibility that it's true...but I won't hold my breath on it. Just because he is in the game industry doesn't mean his particular post was reliable. He pretty much said nothing in it. You can make inferences on all of the things he said. He said that he THOUGHT he saw some returning squadmates....but then said he couldnt tell one alien from the other.....uhhh?

Then he mentioned how amazing the game looks...yet it's unfinished....some conversations and all......but didn't he just say he saw gameplay footage????? Hmmm.....seems too all over the place to be 100% truth.

Welcome to PR. Give people this completely vague statement and let them go crazy about it.

Just because he's with EA PR doesn't mean he knows everything about all their games. Who says he's even a core gamer, hell let alone an actual gamer. He is just public relations after all. There's no reason to assume that just because he's with EA, he knows the details of Mass Effect.

Games can look amazing before being finished....Conversations are part of the gameplay too...

Frankly, I don't believe it at all. Like, not even remotely.

It's hard to say. I know this is an extreme example, but when I was at Countrywide (for those you who don't know, CW is one of the companies directly involved in bankrupting the USA), we had meetings for the sole purpose of patting ourselves on the back.

As true as that may be, for him not knowing all about Mass Effect....then tell me, how does he know about the squadmates????? He obviously does know about the returning squadmates...but treads SUPER carefully on how he delivers this info in his post. So, that whole excuse doesn't exactly fly with me. It's just....general talk to me....and yes, games could look amazing....but don't you think an unfinished ME3 would look subpar to a polished ME2. Unless they seriously updated the ME3 engine in some miraculous way. And yeah, conversations are....your right...but again, this dude is too vague to even tell if it's true. We'll find out soon though with time.

Well, general talk or not, we know that he is works as NFS PR.

He must have played ME2 before, or he wouldn't have noticed the squaddies. He's just not entirely sure.

Well, it's not a huge deal, but to me everything he said seemed perfectly plausible. He probably does know but isn't letting on. Based on my conclusions, that, 1.) He's been registered with NeoGAF as an EA employee with NFS, 2) If you know how a site like GAF works when it comes to that stuff, you'll know it's genuine, 3.) His explanations on why he along with other employees were shown the footage, and everything else he said, it's not hard to believe at all...

Remember, Bioware said the engine will stay relatively the same with upgrades here and there, tweaks and polishing. About the amazing part, he said part of what he saw was gameplay with multiple Reapers rendered in-engine in the background. Now to me...that would be epic to see would it not? So I can see where he's coming from there...

Exactly, he probably might not be a big RPG gamer or something and played a little of ME2 during his hours or along those lines, but not enough to remember their names and all their looks...

You know, if my theory is right, then they'd have to use the actual (unfinished) models of the characters. But then again, we can't be 100% that he didn't mistook another alien for a squadie.

I find it hard to believe ME 2 companions will return (as companions, cameos are always present). Bioware doesn't really bring back possibly dead companions. It's understandable as they take a TTTOOONNNN of work... and that work would go to waste to those who didn't have the companion in question survive.

In an attempt to not turn this thread into another squadmate-related debate, I suggest you take this here instead:

Sorry, it's nothing personal. Just don't want this thread to become another heated discussion and end up getting locked. ;)

Thats kind of silly. The title of the thread says squadmates will be returning... seems like it's fair game. Plus I can't post in the ME2 section being I don't own the game.

Besides I wouldn't say it's not possible, just that bioware hasn't done it yet, so I'm skeptical of it... nothing more.

I would caution people from believing unsubstantiated rumors they here on the Internet without proof.

Unless you're the sort of person who believes everything they read on the Internet. If so, please contact me as I currently own the Brooklyn bridge and am looking to sell.

@Wish: If you say so. I'm just kind of tired of seeing really informative and interesting threads getting locked because of some debate that's been repeated dozens of times already.

Should we meet on the Brooklyn side or the Manhattan side?

No, it's completely irrelevant, we are discussing the 'leak' itself.

What's the matter Priestly, are you saying that none of the squadmates will return in the third game and that the gameplay isn't really that good?

I don't need them to say anything else. Having already played ME1 and ME2, we know it will be epic.

We also know it will be streamlined to hell and back and barely resemble an RPG if at all.
