We already know that all the races have been redesigned. (Most) Qunari have horns, etc.
What I'm wondering is: will elves be as tall as humans in DA2, or does it just look that way in the concept art?

I'm referring to this picture:

wow, the average human male is like 190cm in Thedas, since Qunari are supposed to be over 2 meters tall. But yeah, the elves in this pic appear to be as tall as humans.

Concept art isn't necessarily to scale.

I think they not as hight as humans but higher than in DAO.

Something like elven male is couple of centimeters higher than human female but human male is still higher than elven one.

I like my elves tall, like in norse mythology or LotR.

DA:Os elves looked like they belonged at the North Pole assembling toys.

The scale is closer to D&D elves, actually.

I know. I blame TSR.
At least The Forgotten Realms got it right.

Well, yes. Halfling also became athletic rather than overweight. It's a "brand identifying" thing.

I thought that was because the Tolkien estate threatened to sue?

I always wondered why they were a little petite in Origins so I do hope that at least the elven males are taller than human females, cuz I've got like a 'thing' about that IRL.

No, the change in name took care of that. The changes to being more atheletic happened years later as they made changes with new editions.

A lot of people like the concept of a short, gaunt, repressed, uglier-than-humans elves of DAO in contrast with the immortal, wise, arrogant and beautiful elves of the traditional high fantasy.

I think that DA2 already offended them by making elves slightly more different from humans and slightly more attractive (all those anime elves with pig ears comments), so making elves as high as humans will only fuel the rage.

I like Warhammer High Elves the best considering lore, look, style-everything.

I am fine with elves in DA2 to be slightly smaller than humans but not as small as in DAO.

You know real elves?  :P

As already stated though, the concept art isn't drawn to scale across the board.  I think the scale is still there between genders of each race though.

Not in this setting. In this setting they are "a pointy eared lithe people that excel at poverty".

Gotta love Sten.

Ah, right. To make their appearance mirror the way people were playing them. And since TSR already owned the kender...

Still, that's not really the same thing. For copyright reasons, they weren't hobbits, they were halflings.
Elves are elves. I can live with short elves, but I'd much prefer them to be as tall as humans.

I kind of like my elves to be slighter shorter than humans.

Lol, the dalish still fit the characteristics of a elf from just about any other game tree hugging and good with a bow.

i think it's just the concept art though i do believe elven males are the same height or close to that of human females.

but really if you look at it - the human female's calf is the same size as her thigh (the right one) and I'm pretty sure her left leg shouldn't bend like that naturally. Males should also be taller for humans and elves, but the females seem to be on their tip toes?

Which is the reason as to why they are so boring and dull compared to City Elves.

Yeah bro, we go way back you should see my ears. My nickname was Keebler in highschool . Though seldom does anyone ever find out that I really do know where that magical tree is where they make all the cookies...

At least the Dalish has got that Romani-thing working for them. I think that's a pretty interesting twist.

I like them short tbh, it symbolises their current status in society, as if they are lesser than the ones before.
