I honestly thought Aveline was supposed to look plain. I imagined her as DAs answer to Brienne of Tarth from A Song of Ice and Fire (possibly with a little Jaheira, BGs tomboyish druidess, mixed in for that sweet, sweet widow-taste).

Elves are inferior to humans, why do you think they let humans rule them? Because they cannot rule themselves.
That is why they are shorter. Dwarves too.
The order of superiority goes:
Qunari > Dwarves >> >Humans >>>>>>>>elves.

And, you know that this was long after hobbits were turned into halflings in the DnD setting and long after the Tolkien estate threatened to sue them?drahelvete wrote...

Well, yes. Halfling also became athletic rather than overweight. It's a "brand identifying" thing.

Female dwarves worked for me in DA and I haven't actually noticed any difference in the way Varric looks from a DA:O dwarf or Fenris from a DA:O elf. Other than the general graphical upgrade.Atakuma wrote...

Male dwarves - in the concept art - look at least a little more gruff if you ask me.

There are definitely some comparisons that could be drawn, though Brienne is very much all about her unrequited love and her lack of self-esteem-- Aveline's very different from that, even if she is an equally no-nonsense sort of female warrior. I think Luke's done a great job with her.PatDaRat wrote...
I get the feeing Aveline will be somewhat of a 'Brienne of Tarth' like character. Which is cool.

In order to have armors fit all the body models, the proportions on dwarfettes are slightly off. It might pass unnoticed a long time, but once your attention is called to it, it becomes obvious: The arm's length is disproportionately long, and the shoulder-to-hip ratio is also a bit off.Follow Me on Twitter wrote...
