Best solution for elven height issue is having different elven races. As in high elves, wood elves, half-elves or whatever. So everyone can pick the type of elf they prefer. If there is only one elven race it should be same size as humans. It makes just everything easier.

Only if I also get to choose Fjord Humans, Praerie Humans, and Jungle Humans.
Oh, and Hill Dwarves, Mountain Dwarves, and Cliff Dwarves as well.

Why is it stupid? Do humans all look alike? We also have different races/cultures.

Well, the Dalish do have longer lifespans than city elves do... ever since they got back in touch with their roots.
Who's to say they weren't taller back in Elvhenan as well. Posted Image

Having a different culture is wonderful but i mean when it gets to the point that there is a race of elves that only live under water it just gets out of control.

Thats my opinion and i don't expect anyone to take it serious.

Well I never said I want underwater elves. Is there just all or nothing without some middle way? I wasn't advocating D&D either. There are just some people who prefer elves tall and stoic, other more small an agile and others maybe more human-like.

Also in DA we only have one elven race, and as I said in that case they should be same height as humans.

Why exactly? Why is them being shorter than humans such a bad thing?

Prefer to have a taller character it would be even better if they  gave us some height scale thing as we're creating the character. Not one that lets you completely make a dwarf bigger then a human but lets you make them somewhat taller so you can be tall by elf standards. if that makes any sense.

You people just argue for your preference which is ok, but why are you asking then why other people prefer other things?

I give you a couple of reasons though. For once, same size, same animation looks better and is less effort. Also for example for romances if I played an elf every human woman would be taller. Same if I played a human female every elf would be smaller. Same size is just unproblematic. Why would you make an effort to make things complicated? You were the one who said different elven races would just make them more stereotypical, and now you think it is better that elves are smaller? Because that's not stereotypical?

I don't think short elves are a bad thing, per se. I just prefer my elves tall.
Tall, stoic, definitely not frail or effeminate, and with ears that are only slightly leafshaped but otherwise indistinguishable from human ears. But mostly tall.

I'm not trying to force BioWare to cater to my personal tastes, I was just curious since the elves and the humans in the concept art looked to be about the same height.

Because they're different species and ough to have some distinguishing features?

Maybe elves should have only one eye then and two noses.

Pointy ears, catlike eyes (at least in DA2) and slighter frames aren't enough?

So why not make dwarves as tall as humans as well? They also have hairier males, more robust frames, and rounder faces.

DA:Os elves looked like they belonged at the North Pole assembling toys.

Agreed.  It's been a problem ever since NWN.  I didn't notice if there was a height difference in BG1 or 2.

Because dwarves are small people, elves are not. In myth elves look just like humans. You can read it up if you want. No pointy ears, they are not smaller, not thinner, not even more beautiful if I am not all wrong.

I don't know where the idea comes from that elves must look cute.
