1. Kill Cerberus logo.

2. Replace the Hammerhead with an improved version (i.e. more durable, has an actual HUD, has good weapons)

3. Put a super-heavy MG (i.e. larger than the revenant, the kind of thing someone would mount on a tank or gunship) on a turret, facing the airlock that leads in and out of the ship. So that the next time it gets boarded, a crew member hits the "high alert shoot on sight" button and the crew goes to hide. Then, the second idiots step on-board the ship, they get wasted by the gun. Also, it will be strapped to like, five avengers for extra firepower. And don't act like Cerberus can't fork out money for a machinegun. It can build the avengers on the SR2 itself!

i like these internal cannons for safety as long as they get hidden while deactivated. think emergency air masks in airplanes they show in case of emergencies they deploy

I'd really like a full-on Normandy modding system, where you basically have slots or bays in your ship and it's your choice what you put in there as you research, purchase and discover upgrades, but at the same time the gameplay would have to warrant it by having some form of space combat now and then.

That would be friggen awesome.

I want to see a ball turret of sorts that is hidden when not firing, i also want to see the Normandy feel more crowded, such as during or after missions you pick up important people or groups and take them to another location. seeing and being able to talk to NPCs who are only on your ship for certain missions would be cool.

There is still a lot of empty chairs in the Normandy, I want them fllled with the crew i have now, Asari, Turian, Quarian, Alliance, Geth, and Solarian with ambasadores to all my allies  in the confrence room or accessable through the comm room

O.T Whats up with Miri's room it's like double the size of any other place aside from the cargo deck and engine room.

on topic i want that shrunk in ME3 so we can add a training room or an interactive room with memorabilia from th past two games and ME3 or something like that

oh and i always forget this.  I want the ability to make Gerrus my second in commandImage IPB

I still don't think any sort of internal defense is necessary. External firepower/maneuverability/stealth is in much more need for improvement.

The chance of the Normandy being boarded is close to zero, because if you are able to board it, you will be able to blow it up from space. If you want the ship intact but kill all on board, you can use a radiation pulse like the ones used on the Heretic Station or the Collector Base (Renegade). Only for some completely unreasonable reasons like "abducting a few dozen humans just to advance the plot" would the Normandy be boarded. Even if it happens, Shepard on board = dead intruders.

Which is why the opening scene of ME2 felt realistic while the surprise attack after Reaper IFF installation looks like a giant hole in the plot.

The SSV Normandy SR2 is a frigate, not a space station. Who needs crappy security mechs when we have Legion around anyway?

training room....

In addition to the obvious (on board training room, better/more ground vehicles, etc.), I would fix my biggest pet peeve with the SR-2: Miranda’s room!

It’s just too big! This is all the more frustrating as the area in front of Miranda’s door (directly behind the galley) is just open dead space!

Now between Miranda, Tali, and Dr. Chakwas, the Normandy has three female senior officers whose rank and positions more than entitle them to at least semi-private sleeping quarters.

I say, expand Miranda’s room so that it’s of equal cubage with sick-bay on the other side of the ship.

Then subdivide that expanded area into three separate rooms.

One as Miranda’s office, one shared sleeping area for Miranda and Dr. Chakwas (they can be roomies!), and one room just for Tali. Tali gets her own room because it would also serve as a clean room, so she can take off her suit without risking her life.

I would rebuild it from the ground up so it does not waste so much space inside. I would pack it full of armor and additional weapons. It is inexcusable how much space is wasted on a warship. I would also install ladders, its dumb to have an elevator as the main mode of travel, you arent supposed to use them in an emergency, and you could be trapped otherwise.

Most important would be removing all the C4 from the control consoles throughout the ship. I really see no reason for Bioware to have installed that in the first place, dont they know exploding consoles are so cliche...

Word!

I think CIC is the worst offender in terms of open space I’ve ever seen! The space between the central holo-tank and the stations along the bulkheads is literally TWICE as wide as it needs to be!

That wasted space is damn near a crime, imo! Armor and weapons are just the start of what we’re missing out on just so the SR-2 can have an “open” feel. Additional sensors, shield capacitors, power systems (maybe panels wouldn’t blow up so much if they had room for a circuit breakerImage IPB) even crew accommodations are all sacrificed for no good reason!

And you hit the bull’s-eye on the elevator issue. On a warship, stairwells and ladderwells are how the crew moves about, elevators are just for cargo and convenience. I think the stairwell system (or one very much like it) that we find on the engineering decks should be extended to ALL decks.

All over the world there are various museum naval ships, from submarines to carriers, open to the public for tours. The designers of Mass Effect would do well to go on some of these tours and incorporate what they learn into future games.

5. Add backward facing cannons so that the Normandy can return fire when being chased.

Turrets!  Lots and lots of turrets.  So many turrets it looks like the Normandy has acne.  Then you can fire in any direction.

One gun facing forward and one gun facing back will be enough theoretically, as the Normandy is highly maneuverable, but not capable of flying backwards.

The backward facing cannons idea comes from the frustration I had watching ME2's opening scene (Collector surprise attack on SR1).

The Sukhoi Su-37 is capable of firing rockets backwards during dogfights to counter purusing fighters. The Normandy SR-2 should be able to do the same.

Not true, the normandy can fly backwards. The forward thrusters is what helps it undock.

Starships can rotate on their axis without changing their momentum, in theory rear facing guns are redundant since you can just turn on your spot and blast them.

Yay no friction in space!

Shame the cutscenes show the ships maneuvering as though it's in an atmosphere, lol.

Wait what?! If you rotate on your axis wouldn't your main thrusters be facing another direction and thus send you on a different course?

To do what you're saying you'd have to shut off your main thrusters and solely rely on manuvering jets. You'd be the slowest moving mother f'er in space.

Unless I'm completely wrong of course, which is totally possible!

I would simply add the ability to customize it way more in general. I've got 10 different Sheppards and they've all got personal taste. I want the ability to reshape it for each of them, not just be satisfied by a few little extra's.

With my Renegade Soldier, I want to turn it into a pirate ship, like Jack proposed. Mantis Gunships, A hold for loot and a hold for prisoners, random guns lying about and don't bother repairing the damage done by the suicide mission. Nice red atmosphere lights everwhere and a giant skull and bones on the side of the hull, which I painted red with the blood of my enemies. Maybe strap Joker down on the nose as an ornament, see how much he likes getting spaced instead. I'm letting Jack, Zaeed and Grunt do the interiour design. I killed the crew anyway, so I want a guy with a wooden leg for an engineer and a guy with an eyepatch for a pilot, nevermind generation technology. I want Kelly revived and draped across my captain's quarter in even less than she could be wearing now.

With my Renega Infiltrator and Sentinel, I want to kill the lights and replace the crew with masked Cerberus special ops stalking every shadow in snappy "Empire strikes back" uniforms, not wide-eyed idealists like Rupert and Kelly. Where the hell did they recruit the current crew anyway? I want a gloomy decent strategy rooms thrice the current size, a room with a direct link to the Shadow Broker's communication network, a room for proper sensor intell, a male version of EDI with an octave-leaping HAL 9000 voice and lists of all my enemies adorning the walls of my cabin. I also want a bigger loft with a view on space, so I could gloat at my enemies, laugh maniacly at the Reapers or stare into the distance in dark, brooding manner when someone gets away from me. I also want either the power to strangle Joker from a distance, or have heart-plugs installed. I want a small army of Security bots and at least 5 FENRIR mechs.

With my Neutral Engineer, I want to turn the place into a salvage barge. Get a room where I can actually keep my mined minerals and big creaky gaps so shoals of dust can stray across the ship. I want the old Mako back, yes I said it, just so I could fix her up. Tali gets a decent room and I'd like usefull crap strapped to the ceiling with nets so she would feel at home.

With my Paragon soldier, I want to hand the Normandy back to the Alliance. I want a complement of marines on board and the option to take them with me on important missions. I want some damn order aboard and less civilian design.

With my Paragon adept and Vanguard, I'd like some Asari art aboard, more class. There's so much gleaming metal now that the ship simply doesn't feel at home. I want a gloriously stylish conference room for when I make peace between the Krogan and the Turians, the Geth and the Quarians, the Batarians and humanity. I want more light, plants, paintings, some rugs. I want to bathe in the blue light of the biotic fields of my engines. I want a little garden.

But all of these are just minor desires though.

When you shut off your main thrusters you maintain your momentum, you don't stop or even slow down. You just stop accelerating in that direction. The point is that when somebody is "on your tail" or whatever, you can quickly spin around and blast them with your guns before turning back and continuing.

Holographic similuator room is Star Trek material. Holographic technology in the Mass Effect universe is not terribly more advanced compared to the 21st century. Example: Donovan Hock (one of the richest people in the Galaxy)'s giant floating head, Kasumi DLC.

Hull: remove Cerberus logo. The name of the ship can already serve as a sign for recognition.

Main area: possibility to adjust the light (I'm photosensitive. The difference between light on Normandy and on Omega nearly cuts). Stairways instead of elevator (c'mon, the only slow elevator for entire ship? When it's busy or, even worse, broken, crew should have a happy time). People walking around and displayed on mini-map. Also I think that idea "we have enormous windows, but it's safe because in combat that rooms are sealed and covered with pieces of armour" is too much for the ship whose main purpose is combat, not staring at stars - windows should be removed. The same for windows which lead to mass effect core - one core outburst, and several fried squadmates.

Debriefing room - set chairs there, finally.

Tech lab - where's all the Cerberus scientists? They're so afraid of Shepard? Add some.

Find some place for Jack on living deck. After all, my Shepard won't mind sharing a room with her.

If we need a vehicle, let it be the gunship. Not made of paper (Hammerhead, I'm looking at you)

Shepard's quarters: make two separate room from it. One for bed, locker and weapon holder and one with table (with several data pads on it), information board (icons of crewmembers with indication if they have something important to say, info about current mission, messages from Liara with up to date information, icons for unread messages, status of fuel, probes, minerals supplies). Completely remove: fish tank, couches (two and armchair. For why?), small table Prothean artifact currently standing onto.

Uniform: looking like Cerberus or Alliance uniform but white (black is held by Cerberus and blue - by Alliance). No insignias, maybe stripes on sleeves - blue for biotics, orange for techs, red for medics. For potentially dirty work - cotton and leather outfit (like that where maleShep has surprisingly big muscles). Majority of squadmembers should have two outfits: casual (ME2 outfit except Garrus - for him, suit from romantic scene) and combat (Garrus should just fix his armour, Tali and Kasumi may use "casual" outfit in combat, the rest should find an armour)

I would add..

1. Automated defense turret one at the back of Normandy as a rear gun.  Located somewhere behind the Captain's cabin at the roof.

2. Two mannable turrets capable of 180 degree rotational axis.  Both on the underside of Normandy, one on each side.
Can switch to automated mode.

3. Replace the Kodiak  with a gunship ****** dropship.  Maybe Mantis?  Or something like the Halycon dropship from Aliens.  Its essentially a gunship with capacity to carry a tank.

4. Replace Hammerhead with maybe an improved & modified MAKO.  M35-B2.

5, An entertainment lounge, with TV and all for the staff

6. Better security.  Perhaps a security detail at all times.  At least 2 marine on each deck & as another poster mentioned.  YMIR mechs in the cargo hold.

I think thats all.. the Normandy is big but only so big.  Unless we move to a dreadnought class vessel.. I think there wouldn't be anymore room to accomodate other features.

I am liking the stuff i am hereing with the training rooms and shrinking Miri's room also like the more crew idea, I stated above somewhere that i would like the crew I have now with a compliment of Turrian, Asari, Geth, Alliance, and Solarian staff with the ability to communicate with ambasadors of all my allies weather it be directly on the ship or through the Comm room.

Commander cabin look conditioned by the choice of the LI: black and white stuffs if it's Miranda, purple sheets if it's Tali and so. Just to add some little relevancy to the romance.

The possibility of get rid of the Cerberus's logos, replacing them by choice with Spectre or Alliance's one.

Private quarters for the squadmates who doesn't seem to have one, except Legion, for obvious reasons.
