So for those of you who have read The Calling  and hopefully without spoiling too much for those who haven't, there is a pretty cool character in the book (and maybe in the game for all I know... haven't got that far yet) who's class/fighting style is a Monk.  This character mostly uses hands, feet, tackles, and an eventual club swipe.

Now my question is, since I've been thinking about this class for quite some time (I have tons of lore, outlines, and story already writen well before I read the book), do builders out there think a Monk class is something we can create with the DA Toolset?

I have messed around a bit with the tool.  I just stopped "playing" to make sure it doesn't mess up my games save files.  What I'm curious about specifically is sometimes in games with toolsets you still have to conform to the games mechanics or the core class types.  Sure in NW1 you could make a character and limit his class/race in some way but he was still one of the many options and one of those was Monk.  Here is seems like Fighter is the only class but what I'd want to do is change up their skill tree, spell tree, and give them things that hopefully make them more Monk like so they could level up and just be a viable hand to hand combatant.  I don't even really know at what level you can change up those kind of elements but I do know I could scale a player character with more powerful "hands".  But in the end I don't think that would be enough, I'd want to be able to do more that say dirty fighting.

Now I'm not talking about taking it as far as creating a kick animation and brand new attack (unless that is possible) what I'm talking about more is molding what works within the mechanics that exists today to have a different name and fit my needs - i.e. Pummel Strike - could be changed to Elbow Stike, even has similiar animation.

Do Builders have enough toolset knowledge to know if something can be taken this far?  Ultimately I don't want to create a so called monk and the pc can only level them as a fighter.

Thanks for the feedback!

Guess no one who monitors the boards really has gotten this far into the toolset huh? Can't say I blame ya - I stopped to after hearing about the Save File issues. :-)

Try putting your question in the topic of the thread. A lot of folks skip threads with mysterious or vague titles.

I suspect what you want is possible, but probably not quite yet.

I would think this is doable. I don't think it van be done well (that is in a way that makes the class as interesting as the existing ones) unless a tremendous amount of work is invested in it - and project requiring that amount of work have a tendency not to get finished.
