Like DA:O, a mage. I'm hoping an apostate Hawke has a chance to make the Magi boon from DA:O a reality across Thedas.

Bethany fan here... male warrior duel wield... then male mage with the half blade half staff... then male rogue archer... and if I still have enough stamina for the game, 2h male warrior. I never play female.

Normally I play a warrior first, but since they removed dual-wielding (for warriors) and made your sibling class-dependent I'll be playing as a mage (I already have a sister IRL, I'd like to see what a brother is all about).

Also, mages seem to be integral to the main story AND they have the DA:O Amell connection.

Never thought of it like that. Already have a brother. Can't imagine what it's like to have a sister.

Don't think a video game would be the best place to go to find out, but it'd be...an experience.

I'm an only child so either sibling would work for me, haha. I kind of wanted a sibling in real life, it's sad that it never happened. I will live through DA 2! hehe

Warrior probably.

I almost always roll a warrior at my first playthrough. I find them easier to play, although I prefer mages, but it takes time to learn their controls.

My main warden is an Amell family mage so i'm thinking mage for Hawke as well. Either that or warrior, rogue is normally the last class I play.

Female rogue, though I'm tempted to start off as a female mage instead. It'd be the first time I'd have chosen to be a mage first. :P

Diplomatic female 2-hander warrior, mostly because I want to have bethany instead of carver for my first playthrough. And then a Sarcastic male mage for my 2nd.

Male Rogue. I always play them first. Could someone explain why do you have to be a warrior to

*Spoilers?*

Save Bethany?

*Spoilers end?*

Yup - only sword & shield and 2Hander warriors.  I know this, because the reveal cemented my decision to switch to playing a rogue over a warrior.  The later reveal that your sibling was class-specific then switched me to playing a mage, haha.  Image IPB  [edit]  Found the link to the confirmation.

@Soul Cool - Yea, I always found the idea of having a brother appealing, and this is the first RPG I can think of where you can get one that'll (presumably) be a major character.

I'd have most likely started out as a mage, but you can't play as a mage unless you want Bethany to die so that's out. So right now I'm leaning in favor of Female Rogue. Hopefully there will be a mod to let me play as a mage and still keep Bethany alive at some point down the line, otherwise I'll just alternate between Rogues and Warriors in future playthroughs.

Female mage. Why? Because mage is my favorite class in any game with the option. They were also the most versatile Origins class and it looks little different in DA2 so far. I like to play a character that feels active and requires frequent micromanagement to use effectively.

Mage, for sure, and female. Mostly because it's my favorite. Also my "main" Warden was an Amell, so it'd be interesting to see the connections, there.

Also, I like the idea of Mages saving the world/becoming Champions. Give 'em something positive to focus on. Hopefully.

I like playing as warriors, but my canon Warden is a mage, solely for the fact he is an AW so he is basically both. I'll probably be a warrior because AW is gone

I've got both a brother and a sister, so I can choose freely:P
Seriously, I prefer to have Bethany, I'd love to protect my little apostate sister from devil templars:devil:, plus my brother will play a mage hawke, so it's better to me to play a different class. I love how mage is handled in DA2, but I prefer to have some experience in the building, my brother will do a perfect testB)

Mage. I never liked being one in Origins but from what I've seen so far the class should be more interesting to play in 2.

My Warden was a warrior for the sake of roleplaying more than anything else.

Not really sure.  I want to go with a Mage but if I dont have an option of something similar to an Arcane Warrior as a specialty, then it'll probably be Warrior first.  Rogue second, and Mage third.  I love me some Battlemages lol.

Don't think there will be an AW spec, but the mage could now fight in a similar way, at least in a visual way, especialy with the Staff of Parthalan. They don't do great damage withe melee damage, but you can make you mage a melee fighter, in the sense that you can fight in close combat, with basic melee damage. I'd try some time the AW in DAO, and I find myself using a lot the spell, so for me how they made the mage in DA2 it's ok^_^
