I like shooters, and love war movies and stuff. I just can only take so much pew-pew before I want to sit and scan planets for a while, or decorate my PC's house, or partake of other nerdy bits. DAO being my first BioWare game, I admit that Alistair knocked me for a loop. I might have stopped playing since I was finding the combat difficult, then dude turned up with a rose.

I play like 90% story driven singleplayer games, or something like that. Hell, the only game I'm playing multiplayer on now is Starcraft 2.

i like to think that our gamers appeal to the story-lover in all of us. We write darned good stories and darned good characters, and when you're playing a game as big and immersive and full of stuff as BioWare games are, you want awesome characters to see you through it all. You want the Hollywood moments, you want the adrenaline and satisfaction of kicking butt and taking names, you want the feeling of being in control of the PC's destiny. Escapist entertainment, gotta love it, no matter who you are.

This is epic. No one in the history of everything has explained Bioware so perfectly.

DA: O and DA 2 are transgendered games...just from the simple fact that you can play as BOTH a male or a female character( in fact the majority of bioware games in particular are this way)
I laughed. Hard.
But anyway... lolz aside...
I don't file games under girl or boy. One of my first favorite games was Operation Flashpoint of course, so take anything I say with a grain of salt (with tequila if you please!)
People will always have their pre-conceived notions. My 5 year old LOVES cooking mama. I would prefer to COOK mama. I hate that game. Having my child run around the house dual wielding kitchen accessories yelling " I will help ru!" is not entertainment. That is my problem however lol The child also is upset I won't let him play RIFT so there is hope...
I tried God of War 3. Couldn't finish it, despite it having some elements I really liked, it just wasn't my thing. And I love games. Is it a boy game? Or did I simply want more character awareness that day or more story? Who knows.
Maybe dude just liked random slaughter with little thought, primarily FPS type things... I really like lots of those, so I get the appeal. Lots of people play the gender-difference thing because a) it probably has a grain of truth in the way brains can be wired but .... I think in most cases its a cop out for just not saying that it is a personal preference.
I am female. I play more games than my husband. He also plays DA and loves it. I play what I like and I don't need to carry a portable penis in a pouch to rub for luck when I play to become gamer-adequate. Although the imagery, while disturbing is quite distracting....
I let people like what they like. Their loss. I didn't prefer God of War but at least I tried it to come to that opinion.

And at the same time, sort of cool, that there are that many females playing it.
