I have to admit, I've never had a problem with guys thinking I have issues because I'm a straight female and play video games popular among many males, such as GoW, Assassin's Creed, Red Dead Redemption, and DA:O. Usually they think it's cool that I'm into video games, and we proceed to have a fairly in depth conversation about gaming.



It's unfortunate that some people assume that females are only interested in so called "girly" things like romance novels, tanning, or casual gaming. Give me gritty novels, sword fighting, Die Hard and hard core video games any day.

I know many couples who play videogames together (both co-op and playing the same game on different systems at the same time). Many of them are BioWare game fans, and usually it's the girl who's consistently farther ahead in the game than the guy! or maybe I just know some very odd, and awesome, girls.

My wife likes to sit and watch me play, assuming the game is entertaining enough for her. She watched a lot while I played Origins.

Its Nba2k 11 and Call of Duty and NFL 11 thats the only games some of my friends play.

Neither have I. I've never played a Halo game either. Only real FPS game I have are the L4D games and that's just because it's frickin' zombies.

This guy plays RPGs, MMORPGS, and a few strategy games.

I typically can't either.  When I'd come home for holiday breaks in college, my mom would come downstairs and want to watch me play.  I just paused it.  She got the hint,

While playing shooters i love an audience. While roleplaying i can't stand having my girl watch because they "backseat game" and just want me to speed through everything lol.

Or they talk about something nonsensical right when a huge important plot point is being revealed through dialogue or a cutscene.

My story is not as happy. My ex went into ''what are you hiding from me mode,'' and since it was ME1 I was hiding and she could see the case, it went to an awkward conversation about me playing the game for the fantasy romances. Stuff like this is why the word ex is being used now.

Ooh! And she found out about the Liara romance, which made her covertly suspect I was into... furries for a while. I didn't know what those were until that conversation, which made things all the more uncomfortable...

At any rate, as a rule I now never play video-games around things that breathe.

I think the game appeals to both genders, honestly.



My husband was the one who originally bought the game DA:O. I wasn't at all interested at first, but there was something about the way that Morrigan talked that caught my interest. I knew that she was important story-wise and suddenly I wanted to know the story. The hubby kept telling me that I wouldn't like it because of all the blood and gore and wouldn't let me try it out on his comp.



So I made my hubby buy me the game for the PS3 so I could play too. And became hooked on it (and Alistair too!) Now that I've discovered mods I snatched his pc version and he isn't getting it back. He whines about it every once in awhile, and I tell him 'go buy yourself another copy'

Ouch.  I'm sorry to hear that.  It definitely sounds like she could have been a bit more open minded about it, though.  It is a fictional story, after all; there wasn't a threat that you would run off with one of the characters and leave her (not that you ever would, of course).

I used to watch my dad game when I was younger. This was back in soviet russia in the early 90s, so it meant I watched him play the original prince of persia and bugged him to find people to have that awesome 32 bit swordfight that now just looks uncomfortably sexual.
